I was just thinking about this:

I can do all things through him who strengthens me. (ESV)
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Nkjv)

Now this is not for or against the King James Version.
My question is more transliteration vs paraphrase?

In particular what paraphrase best captures the meaning of the scripture?

I don't know, that's a tough one. I don't know of any paraphrase that captures the meaning of every scripture, that's why I refer to many of them.

I'm sure you're going to get many opinions. Personally, the two versions I use most are the NKJV for the New Testament and the ESV for the Old. I have many reasons for this, far too many than I care to get into here.

Whatever Bible translation God thinks best for what He's teaching me. He's used a whole variety of translations during our Bible studies.

The best is the one that best represents the original Greek while being easily understood in English.
 
Curry Blake had a teaching on the man who told Jesus, "you could heal me if you would", ot there abouts, and when Jesus said "I will, be healed" in the Greek can be translated as, "It is the very nature of who I am that you be healed". That is pretty close as I recall it.

I see what you mean, at least I believe I do, in that we can strive too hard to please and serve we may exceed His timing of His plan ?

That becomes between each person and God for therm in risen Son to them.
For me, I read each translation, to compare, and see a fair share in each translation. Yet taking it all to God in prayer to one day, sooner or later, I know I will hear truth from God over it all, and have been growing up in grace from God in risen Son ever since. Hebrews 5:12-6:3, was the beginning day of my asking God to teach me truth over error, for me to grow up unto God's maturity in love to all also. yes, especially those that have done me wrong, since I have done wrong myself too. Romans 2:1-4
I see better to make amends over and wars.

Ultimately, the original Greek does not have the work Christ in it some translations add it (rather than Him).

You could say that the translations that do not use Christ are a more accurate rendering to the original, however that does no make the translations that add Christ less accurate in meaning since using Christ instead of Him is just making more clear who "Him" is.
