the same is true of studying scripture.

it's often the refrain here to denigrate people going to seminary, saying, all you need is the Holy Ghost and, without ever having been educated themselves, make all kinds of claims about education being worthless and universities being corrupt and poisonous.

my understanding of scripture however is that we should be putting the work in, not sitting around idle - - - DESPITE the fact that God can bless us with supernatural abilities to do His work, and that He has completely saved us, even to the point that if we have only faith and do no works at all, He is still faithful.

all of this works/faith arguing always boils down to one thing: God alone saves. nothing we can do can merit eternal life or add one single speck to His unique work of redemption. we are entirely dependent on Him.

we do righteous works in reply to what He gave us, not to in any way whatsoever earn salvation.

"otherwise grace is a debt, not a gift"

Yes, God inspired Scripture for the purpose of revealing how sinners may be saved via faith in Christ's atonement,
and saints (saved sinners) desire to do good works because the loving Holy Spirit motivates them.

missing something AS YOU ARE.

i have both been water baptized and preached in languages i do not know.

neither of these matter one whit.

but you condemn me even though i fulfull your imaginary litmus tests, only because i preach Jesus to you instead of filthy rags, and correct your bad argumentation instead of massaging your vanity.

only Christ saves.
only Christ forgives sins.
only Christ redeems.

not ritual, not fake babbling, not endlessly misinterpreting the same two verses like no other verses exist.

there is no other Name that can save, and faith in anything other than Him is garbage.

After reading you comment, I was supprized you wer so angry, but I see the problem.

I have yet to have anyone explain to me how I can have true saving faith that saves. and not trust in God on anything else.. to the point I have no works.

When I read your statement I read nd not trust in God OR anything else.

I am sorry Please forgive me.
Forgiven

Being baptized in JESUS name is not legalism is being obeident.
Unless your doing it for the reason of getting saved. or to recieve eternal life.

then it is legalism

I followed HIS word and got baptized to get rid of my sins PEOIRD.
This is legalism

I did it because God already cleansed me of my sins. and as a new disciple of Christ. I followed his command to get baptized

Meaning we are not the same, I OBEYED HIS RULE BOOK you didn't.
I did actually I was baptized in front of my church about a year after I was baptized by God and born again. I also gave my testimony..

You going to now apologize for bearing false witness against me?

I'm done trying to answer your questions.

As you can see I can't please you.

How about you tell me what you think we have to do to be reborn.

Don't you think that's the most important thing?
John 3: 10 - 18 Jesus answers this very question

10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? 11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

The simplicity that is in Christ. is sadly a block of stumbling for others

First THANK YOU.

Can you share any verse where you are cleansed of you sins before being bapitzed?

Can you show me how you was baptized by GOD before you got baptized?

If I did, I sure would apologize. When I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

If you believe what JESUS said in John 3:16 why not what HE said in John 3:5?

Rom 6, gal 5 and 1 cor 12.

baptize is an action word

Paul said I am baptized INTO christ.

He said I was baptized INTO his death

He said I was baptized INTO his body.

try interpreting the word as a greek would have used in in Jesus day, and not as a person would interpret the ENGLISH word (which has no meaning of its own) today

If you have been reborn like the instructions from HIS discples as they were reborn the same why, AMEN.

Just like the Jews who were the first in Acts 2, then the samaritans in Acts 8, then the gentiles in Acts 10 and finally the Ephens in Acts 19 your good to go and we are brothers.

obvious question:

why does the apostle Jesus loves say everyone who believes Jesus is the Christ is born of God, but Ouch say everyone who is baptized with a specific formula and speaks in tongues?
why does scripture say the victory that overcomes the world is our faith but Ouch say it is our works?

The answer is obvious to us, but not to them: Matthew 13:11-15 (cf. Gal. 5:1-12, substituting WB for circumcision and drown for emasculate).

So what's up, I started this thread for you to answer the questions.

You said you would?

Believes in JESUS?

Or believe what HE SAYS we must do to be saved?

DO YOU BELIEVE HIM?
