Faith is the product of the work of the Spirit employing the word of God. One is saved through faith. We believe as a result of the work of God in us.
The Spirit will convict the WORLD.....ALL people. Bible.

@Cameron143 ......Faith is the product of being saved/regenerated.

@Cameron143 ....One is saved and THEN one has faith.

@Cameron143 .....You believe as a result of being saved/regenerated.

God discards the old natural man within us in its entirety and replaces with the new man. God does it all
in agreement God creates the new man within the born again one.

man does nothing.

[Eph 4:24 KJV] 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
[Col 3:10 KJV] 10 And have put on the new [man], which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
the tenor of this thread does not support your claim that "man does nothing".

Ephesians 4:22-24 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

behavior of old man: corrupt communication which tears down others; bitter; wrath; vehement clamouring ... which we see in abundance in the pages of this thread ...

behavior of new man: edifying communication which ministers grace to others; kindness one to another; tenderheartedness; forgiveness ... which is rarely seen in the pages of this thread ...

so since, according to you, "God does it all" and "man does nothing" ... why do we see such carnal ("old man") behavior ???

Jesus’ words in John 6 v 65 I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them. Plus Colossians 1:21 and 2:13; Ephesians 2:1a and 3b; Philippians 1:6 and 2:13

I have no room for boasting. You, however have much to boast about, and you do frequently. "Look at me, I chose God! Poor you, you didn't. I'm better than you."
You chose The Lord Jesus Christ. I have no doubt.

Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ is non-meritorious......It is the same "work" all of us MUST do to be saved.

In 1 Cor 2 verse 14, the natural man, still unsaved, cannot comprehend the spiritual things of God. He does not understand Christ’s atoning sacrifice, for that is foolishness to him (1 Cor 1 verse 18). The Holy Spirit Himself must convict him of its reality, and of his standing before God (John 16 verses 7-11).So this natural man is unregenerated, one who does not have the Holy Spirit residing within him. As Jesus said, “Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit” (John 3 verse 6).

The natural man can not understand the Bible doctrine teachings that should follow salvation.

But, he sure as all heck can know he is a sinner.
He can surely believe that someone called Jesus died on a Cross for his sins without understanding the spiritual aspect.
Look at all the evidence we see that Jesus existed!
That is not "spiritual stuff."

The natural man can not know that Jesus is also God.
That must come only later after regeneration gets a solid grip on his soul.

The natural man can not understand the teachings designed to feed the born again believer.
That is what that passage speaks of.

Many of the pagans had not a shadow of a doubt that they were sinners.
That is knowledge of the natural.
The unregenerate can not digest them.

Silly rationalization....
And, an excuse for your denial.

The boasting the Bible speaks of?
Was targeting at the works crowd who were proud from thinking God must save them because of all the good deeds they do.
That is why it says... "Not of works, so no one can boast."

By the way...

We do not *choose* God.
We choose to believe God.

You keep distorting it.

"believe" is, but "shall be saved" is future. Why future?
According to you, isn't someone saved WHEN they believe?
Yes.

Believe, that moment is salvation.

It is not salvation and at some point in the future we will believe.

Dear Edith... making mundane choices is not the issue nor is it really the crux of the convo... that is just
a distraction from the real point which Scripture teaches: man is a slave to sin until set free by Jesus.
As a lover of darkness and slave to sin taken captive to do the will of the devil, the unregenerated
person refuses to come into the light and does not seek for God, Whom he hates, being hostile in
his mind towards and opposed to the spiritual things of God which he cannot comprehend.

Freewill.png

"Free will" in the Bible? ~ Freedom is something believers are called to (Galatians 5 verse 13). We need Jesus to “set us free” (Galatians 5 verse 1). If Jesus has not freed us from the bondage of sin, then we are still slaves to sin (Romans 6 verses 6-7). Freedom is found in the presence of the Spirit (2 Corinthians 3 verse 17). Only Jesus can give us true freedom (John 8 verse 36). Only through His lovingkindness can we truly make choices unfettered by a nature that is inherently hostile toward God.

Hey Marge,

I totally Agree and I will add that, it is his choice to remain a slave to sin even after hearing the Gospel. God does not force us to become children of His. He has no grudge about us rejecting Him.

in agreement God creates the new man within the born again one.

Yet having the same soul he was born with.
God creates a new man by installing a new app into the soul called "the human spirit."

Suddenly?

That same soul man was born with?
Can now pick up Wi-Fi.

He then became a new creation.

Where is the phrase...choose to believe God...in the Bible?

Understanding that you are a sinner doesn't save anyone. Faith doesn't come by knowing you are a sinner.
Thank you for clearing that up.

And your non response to my other points.......Point to the FACT that I have your beliefs WIRED. I ain't misrepresenting you, I see your beliefs clearly and it makes you uncomfortable.

You're supposed to be able to fool us all!
