YOU ACTUALLY READ THE THREAD!

I don't know if you know how rare this is. Many people comment in a thread based solely on the thread title, without even bothering to read the first post. In fact you may be the only person so far who realized this thread was about what people call you when you are in love.

Well... I mean... seoul knows what the thread is about, of course. But she made the thread so that doesn't count.

I’m at liberty to comment anyway I see fit since I have admitted that I am crazy.

Shoot, your answers show right away that you must have read at least 75% of the original post, so that definitely counts!!

Comment away, M'Lady!

Hey Everyone!

I've mentioned that I'm in a small "Keep-In-Touch" chat of people I've met in person from CC...

This morning we had a brief mention of what it's like to be "twitterpated" (a reference to Disney's movie "Bambi" -- Google defines it as being "infatuated or obsessed" -- and one member commented that "twitterpation" sometimes makes people "crazy stupid."

I thought about this for a minute.

I mean, sure. I more than fit the bill. But was I ready to actually ADMIT that?!

Rather, I told the group, "Look. I can handle being called 'crazy.' I can handle being called 'stupid.' But I'm not sure I can handle being called BOTH 'crazy' AND 'stupid' at the same time!!":ROFL::ROFL:

Disclaimer: There are, and will be, many times when I am INDEED both crazy and stupid at the same time. It's just that, I'm not sure (especially for legal reasons!) I should admit to being too many things all at once.:p;)

What about you? :)

Just for fun, I'm going to post a poll that allows multiple answers that can be seen by the audience. Go on over and take a gander at the poll, the come back and tell us why you chose those answers!

Then be sure to tell us:

* What are some "crazy", "stupid", and "crazy stupid" things YOU have done as a result of being "twitterpated" over someone?!

Oh, aww, now I get what this thread is about. Amour fou. Not my usual crazy, but my love crazy. I have to think!

At this moment, I'm not sure what the thread title even is. I usually read the OP to get a sense on what the thread is about.

Now, I usually don't read each and every post but generally chime in in certain posts along the way. I will say though that @seoulsearch creates the most interesting threads by far. The effort she puts in on creating and maintaining the conversation flow provides a means to really get to know who the members are and what they are about.

She is a tremendous asset to this site. By the way, you are too. Just thought that I would put that out there.

I have to admit, one of the highest motivations I have for writing threads is seeing what happens when some people answer after just reading the title.

I learned early on that people will often read only one sentence -- and that's perfectly fine. I KNOW I write a lot and that people have a lot more to do than read my novel-length posts!

But for those who can, and just might want to... I do work very hard at trying to pack some fun into the mix as a "thanks" for bearing with me!

At first, I was discouraged, but now, I actually look forward to seeing some of the more... hastily-made replies. Especially the ones where they don't understand what's going on but blast their way into the thread... Instead of asking, they're kicking down doors, throwing assumptions like Frisbees, and making sure everyone can see their Biblical Bazooka's Blazing...

It's one of the most entertaining results of writing threads with titles that often have a much different meaning within the context of the original post , and it's fun to be able to write that way on purpose. (Keeps me from getting bored.) :geek:

Everyone is always welcome to answer, but I know these threads aren't for everyone. They're really for the people who are willing to take the time to learn about other people.

@tourist, thank you so much for your kind words!!! I am very thankful that there are people out there who understand the purpose behind my threads -- to help people get to know each other -- and I often strive to entertain along the way! :D

I KNOW we all don't have time to read every post and thread -- me included. I try to only write threads when I will have some time to keep up with them, but we all know that life never slows down. I'm thankful for the few, the proud, and the long readers who enjoy these types of threads! :)

However... I just received my latest incentive to keep writing -- and to keep writing as much as I have to say!

I recently wrote a 10-page fan letter to my favorite author, Dean Koontz (who has written over 140 books, has sold over half a billion of them, and receives over 20,000 fan letters a year.) I saw in an interview that he can't write back to everyone (but he used to try!) and he reads every piece of fan mail he gets. I prayed hard over my words as I constructed my letter (it took over a month,) but felt confident that he would at least personally read it.

Amazingly, he responded not only with a letter addressing some specific things in my own, but he also sent me 3 autographed books, each personally inscribed to me. (My current avatar is of the sign-off to the letter he wrote to me.)

If THIS is the result of "writing too much," you can be sure I'll NEVER stop writing. :)

But we ´ave so many different ways of understanding ze threads? No? That is why they are so fun.😁

Are you kidding? Who wouldn't respond to 10 pages of crazy stupid rantings and ravings?!

You always always always pack so much into your threads... and I must say I have always appreciated that about you, that you are so careful to cover so many of the bases and leave no stone unturned in your quest for respondents and listing of disclaimers! Do you know I have long believed that the press gives a lot of lee-way to people like Jann Arden because she is so quick to pillory herself, being renown for her self-deprecating sense of humour? I have seen her in concert five times, so enamoured was I with her musical prowess and songwriting ability... and that voice! The voice of an angel... when asked where her lyrics came from, she said she did not know. She did not know! I was standing right there and heard it with my own ears. I was moved to tears. How could she not know that her songs came from the depths of her heart and soul? But despite her exquisite ability she was publicly self-deprecating. She would be the first to say she was crazy, or any number of other self-demeaning things. Yeah. The stories she told at concerts! So, anyways, I do not need anyone else to tell me I am nuts for doing what I do in the face of all the opposition I encounter. I will be the first to admit it.

EXCELLENT point, Susanna!!

That's part of what makes these discussions so interesting and fun.

I have NO problems with people understanding things differently -- my issue is when people criticize, condemn, and make assumptions about other people answering the threads without asking them for any context, background, or taking the time to get to know people.

One of the great things about these series of threads is that we get a few "regulars" whom we really get to know, and that makes it awesome for starting some playful banter and continuing jokes -- things like how low we all hang on the fruit tree of dating, and stalking men with beards!

My hope for each thread is that we might just pick up some great new "regulars" along the way. :)

But for the people who just want to come in and tell everyone how to be or what to do or how to think without putting in any work getting to know them...

Yeah.

My threads aren't for them.

And I regularly do my best to discourage anyone acting that way to find other threads that might be a better fit for them.

I wish I had this way with words. To wiggle them around in my sentences like they were dogs on a leash. My texts, they are like lazy cats sleeping next to the fireplace.

LOL!!!

This made me laugh out loud!!

Let's just say I lay out a very... compelling case... that just might be seen as needing to respond to.

Woman.

You speak multiple languages.

I can barely manage one (and I'm so bad at it, I have to keep going on forever just to get to what I'm trying to say!!)

Your posts in these threads are always a hoot and I always enjoy reading them. :)

Thank you so much for the kind words, Magenta.

I grew up around people who led businesses, so I learned from observation that the most important part of trying to do something -- is simultaneously trying to think of every which way it can go wrong! And there is always going to be someone out there who will point out something you miss. :p

I don't mind -- I know it's part of the territory. But I've also found that sometimes the "disclaimers" can be the funniest part of the process!

I don't know who Jann Arden is, but I always gravitate towards people who, yes, are honest about what they can do -- but are even MORE honest about what they CAN'T do -- and all the stories of how they discovered their shortcomings.

Jann's most famous song is probably Insensitive, though I would not list it among my faves. My faves are still
from her first and second releases as is often the case (Insensitive is also, but...). Probably mostly her second,
where Could I Be Your Girl, and, Good Mother are. That CD was released the same year I first got clean and sober.

Good Mother
Could I Be Your Girl
At the time I was not a believer and quite intrigued with how she said she was Jesus.
I thought it was very... uh... *at a loss for words. Well, I can think of one but won't say it
