Hey Everyone!

I've mentioned that I'm in a small "Keep-In-Touch" chat of people I've met in person from CC...

This morning we had a brief mention of what it's like to be "twitterpated" (a reference to Disney's movie "Bambi" -- Google defines it as being "infatuated or obsessed" -- and one member commented that "twitterpation" sometimes makes people "crazy stupid."

I thought about this for a minute.

I mean, sure. I more than fit the bill. But was I ready to actually ADMIT that?!

Rather, I told the group, "Look. I can handle being called 'crazy.' I can handle being called 'stupid.' But I'm not sure I can handle being called BOTH 'crazy' AND 'stupid' at the same time!!":ROFL::ROFL:

Disclaimer: There are, and will be, many times when I am INDEED both crazy and stupid at the same time. It's just that, I'm not sure (especially for legal reasons!) I should admit to being too many things all at once.:p;)

What about you? :)

Just for fun, I'm going to post a poll that allows multiple answers that can be seen by the audience. Go on over and take a gander at the poll, the come back and tell us why you chose those answers!

Then be sure to tell us:

* What are some "crazy", "stupid", and "crazy stupid" things YOU have done as a result of being "twitterpated" over someone?!

And in the spirit of crazy stupid things we've done...

I have, in the past, repeatedly paid for the legal bills of those who refused to stop the behaviors that were getting them into legal trouble (drunkenness that led to law-breaking; getting in fights, etc.)

The worst part was that I wasn't even twitterpated at the time -- I just didn't want to be alone.

So yes, I have indeed had my (multiple) times of being crazy stupid, and probably not the last.

But, I'm just hoping I will choose to do better!

I was once called a rainbow Jesus lover... or something like that. Recently I was called a bot. I think it was because I post a lot of Scripture. And I mean, a lot, as there really are plenty of verses that support my position, but people don't like my position, so they call me names and tell all manner of other lies about me and what I believe. Of course they don't like being called out for their dishonesty. Someone else complained about me wanting to discuss Scripture in the Bible discussion forum. Yes, that makes me crazy, apparently. I am beginning to see the craziness of it more clearly, especially in light of the many truly bizarre things other people say, which of course includes how frequently they contradict and outright deny what the Bible actually says. Then they will claim it is not what the Bible says that they disagree with, but how I interpret it. Well, that is just stupid! The Bible says what it says and they contradict and outright deny what the Bible says. They actually rewrite complete tracts because they claim it does not mean what it says! There is simply no getting around that. Then I am crazy enough to take them up on some challenge or another. Show me where I am wrong, they say, or show me my logical fallacy, or show me where I am adding to what the Bible says. Doing so just causes them to double down. I must be crazy for thinking they mean what they say...

I actually pray about these kinds of things a lot.

I'm always like, "Ok Lord, is this what you want me as a Christian to be doing? Constantly arguing with others over every last split hair? Is THIS what you intended for the Christian walk to be?! Am I wasting my time doing what I'm doing because I'm not finding myself part of EVERY fight?" (Some fights, yes, of course, but not as many as if I felt called to other parts of the forum.)

Now of course I understand that Christian scholarship and debate -- when done in a HEALTHY manner -- is essential to faith. But how often do we actually see it carried out in a healthy way?

Seeing as I think I face enough dysfunction by just living life, I don't fare well in the midst of those kinds of discussions. I certainly realize they have their value and could be helping many people -- but they're just not for me.

Rather, I've focused my walk -- and am much happier -- trying to talk about how we all personally live out our daily family, work, and social lives as Christians.

I'm certainly not saying this is for everyone -- we all have our own individual calling -- but I always hope some of these discussions can at least be a little bit of a rest for those who are called to the really intense battles.

Seoul superb thread

I don't I have gotten the definition of Twitterpated

People always seem to find me odd. from when I was small I always struggle to belong. so when I contribute to a conversation I will always get you are off, crazy or something else. so I am very immune to that. I don't
However to be accepted I have done crazy things my thumb can't write. That is also how I started serving people. At least if I can't communicate let me serve but guess the abuse that comes with it.
Today I serve just as much as I am available. I say what I want to say if I am accepted fine if am not still fine.

I can't imagine how Twitterpated I was then.
Imagine that I continued dating a man paying the bills after hearing him say he wishes that I marry a good man

oh how stupid I was.

Hi Edith!

It's always great to see you in the threads, and I apologize for not being more sensitive to our amazing friends who speak several languages.

I meant to further explain "twitterpated" in first post, but got a little distracted while thinking up ideas for the poll!

I'm not sure where the word "twitterpated" originated, but I always think of it in terms of Disney's movie, Bambi:

And I'm certain you are not alone in that most of us have made mistakes while under the spell of this mysterious feeling!!

It's always interesting to learn about the people who participate on this forum, and it seems like over and over, a good number of the people here have said in real life, others find them "odd" or that they don't seem to fit in.

I know real life is a lot different than online forums -- I often wonder how many of us would actually get along in real life! :LOL:Especially if we had to work with each other or deal with each other a regular basis!

I frequently ponder that internet "fellowships" like this can, in some ways, just be very elaborate illusions -- NOT that the friendships here can't be real, but I'm always weighing the pro's and con's of what internet connections can and can't do for us.

Either way, I'm very thankful to meet others like myself -- who often feel alone and seen as losers by the world -- because knowing that there are more of us, somehow makes us feel less alone.

And whether "real" or not, I know it seems to help, if even for a moment -- and I hope that it will help others, too. :)

Always great to hear from you, @Edith!

Dear Mage

Don't put yourself in the trouble of debates I learned sometime ago that arguing with people enforces resistance closes the door for the establishment of the truth.
because many take the Bible verses out of context
Many don't carry out exegesis
Many Listen to fairy tales online in the name of Scripture or sermon.

Now the Bible can not be taken literally all the time because in some places it is poetic, figurative, ironical Metaphorical ..... and to understand it you have to use some tools. or listen to real teachings

However What is called the indicative and imperative of Scripture. what Jesus did and how we should respond.
if you know it and follow it. I don't argue with you RDV before God's throne for whatever we don't understand

That would be crazy
We may never get well together and our relationship may not last long.

A friend at church had house issues so decided to live with me for sometime. Not long after she was very annoyed by my ways.

distance is sometimes good

thank you Seoul I indeed feel less lonely here

I'm okay with being called crazy. I'd agree with that statement sometimes . Being a Christian and trying to walk in faith and step out of your comfort zone can definitely make you look a little crazy in this world :p.

I have done lots of stupid things, sometimes those stupid things were done because I thought they were the right thing to do at the time and only in hindsight could I see how dumb they really were. BUT if I learn from my mistakes, then I'm not stupid.

YOU ACTUALLY READ THE THREAD!

I don't know if you know how rare this is. Many people comment in a thread based solely on the thread title, without even bothering to read the first post. In fact you may be the only person so far who realized this thread was about what people call you when you are in love.

Well... I mean... seoul knows what the thread is about, of course. But she made the thread so that doesn't count.

My mother has always been saying that I’m crazy. I was crazy from day one, she says. My daughter agrees with her. She says: Mom, you really are a piece of work. Next thing is that my grandchildren are going to say I’m crazy.

What’s wrong with being (a little…or pretty much full blown) crazy???

I believe that we are all crazy to one degree or another.

At this moment, I'm not sure what the thread title even is. I usually read the OP to get a sense on what the thread is about.

Now, I usually don't read each and every post but generally chime in in certain posts along the way. I will say though that @seoulsearch creates the most interesting threads by far. The effort she puts in on creating and maintaining the conversation flow provides a means to really get to know who the members are and what they are about.

She is a tremendous asset to this site. By the way, you are too. Just thought that I would put that out there.
