Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.Hello Mailmandan.
Can you explain how you read the verse below which you did cite above.
Please specifically explain the relationship between, predestined and foreknowledge.
Romans 8:29
For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that
He would be the firstborn among many brethren.
The Greek word for predestined is proorizó which means to foreordain, predetermine, mark out beforehand.
Strong's Greek: 4309. προορίζω (proorizó) -- To predestine, to foreordain
The Greek word for foreknew is proginóskó which means to know beforehand.
Strong's Greek: 4267. προγινώσκω (proginóskó) -- To foreknow, to know beforehand
Predestination and foreknowledge are interrelated. "Foreknowledge" generally refers to God’s prior knowledge of events and people. God is omniscient. "Predestination" describes God’s purposeful determination regarding those who are called, justified and will be glorified. Both terms highlight God's sovereignty and the assurance that He works out His plan in human history.
