Who hath believed our report?
He said “and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” (Lk. 24:27).
So, what is the response and what does that involve? We find that how in the first gospel sermon under the NT beginning in Jerusalem on Pentecost, just like Jesus said.
In Acts 2:21, Peter declared that whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved..and in verse 38 he tells them how to do that after they asked "what shall we do?" (v37). Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. (v38-41)
Paul explained how he called on the name of the Lord in Acts 22:16 And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’
In those context, appealing to the calling of salvation of the Lord by repenting and being baptized for the remission of sins to have your sins washed away by the blood of Christ.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is God’s power to save the lost
Romans 1:16 NKJV
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
This is the gospel of Jesus Christ:
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 NKJV
For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, [4] and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
This is how one obeys the gospel of Jesus Christ:
Romans 6:3-6 NKJV
Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? [4] Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. [5] For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, [6] knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
