promises of Jesus and the gospel in the ot are my favorite also !
“and
in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
because thou hast obeyed my voice.”
Genesis 22:18 KJV
“and I will make
thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and
will give unto thy seed all these countries; and
in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;”
Genesis 26:4 KJV
“Yea, and
all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers,
saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
Unto
you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.”
Acts 3:24-26 KJV
“And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.”
Genesis 17:3-5, 7 KJV
“Know ye therefore that
they which are of faith, the same
are the children of Abraham. And
the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. ( genesis 12: 1-4)
So then
they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
…..that
the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Now
to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many;
but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. For ye are all
the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for
ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
And
if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
Galatians 3:7-9, 14, 16, 26-29 KJV
without Jesus being promised in tbe ot born in the nt the gospel could never have been accomplished that a man would be perfect and die for the sins of the other men who weren’t perfect far from it. But in order and for the purpose of redeeming them through his own suffering of the punishments of sinners though he had no sin , taking ours upon himself in order to put it away in death and spare our lives
We couldn’t have been saved without that first Christmas morning !!!
“And
she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
….And, lo,
the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for,
behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For
unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you;
Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a
multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, good will toward men.
And they came with haste, and
found Mary, and Joseph, and
the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
And the shepherds returned,
glorifying and
praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
And when eight days were accomplished for
the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel:
and the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
And
he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in
the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, According to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
A light to lighten the Gentiles, And the glory of thy people Israel.
And
Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother,
Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and
for a sign which shall be spoken against; (yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,)
that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”
