I went through a time of watching quite a few documentaries on the state of the Earth... animal kingdom stuff included, protections, ecosystems, lots of very interesting shows, ivory trade, farms for preserving certain endangered species etc, and thought I would take a break from some of the heaviness of it all to watch a doc called A Plastic Ocean. A Plastic Ocean is a 2016 award-winning feature length documentary by a group of dedicated scientists, film-makers, social entrepreneurs, scholars, environmentalists and journalists. It explores the fragile state of our oceans, and uncovers alarming truths about the consequences of our disposable lifestyle. Okay, so I thought I was taking a break from the heaviness of it all, the tragedy that man perpetrates on other species and our environment, but no, I had to pause the film about half-way through to weep at the fate of marine life who are dying left right and centre because they consume plastic products which cannot pass through their digestive tract.
