Sit down . . Sit down
Cause you won't get away,
No, with us you will stay
For the rest of your days.
So sit down as we relive our lives in what we tell you.
Let us relive our lives in what we tell you.
Home By The Sea, Genesis 1983; Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford

The lyrics of that song are so sad because it depicts how the only thing
people have to do down in the netherworld to help pass the time is tell each
other about their previous lives. There is, of course, nothing to tell about
their lives by the sea since the colloquialism "get a life" is a non sequitur in
that place. Nobody has a life down there; nor any hope of getting one.

Ecc 9:10 . . Whatever your hand finds to do, verily, do it with all your
might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in sheol
where you are going.

NOTE: Sheol is the Hebrew equivalent of the Greek word for Hades. The
prophet Jonah spent some time in sheol. It isn't located in the tummy of a
fish, nor under the sea, rather, it's located underground: at the bottoms of
the mountains. (Jonah 2:6)

Now in order for Jonah to be in a fish and underground simultaneously, he
and his body had to part company and go their separate ways. That isn't
impossible because according to Matt 10:28, the soul can survive on its own
without the body.

I often encounter rational people who have logically concluded that God has
set the bar too high, i.e. He's made it humanly impossible to attain the
kingdom of God; so what's the point of even trying. Actually I kind of
sympathize with them because the bar is set at 100% sinless perfection.
(Rom 3:23) Good luck measuring up to that!

And there are others who have decided that as bad as Hell might be, it
would be even worse to squander this life in self denial and quite possibly
end up going down there anyway. Those people have decided that it's
better to live a life of pleasure here and a life of no pleasure there, rather
than run the risk of having no pleasure either place. I have to agree: that
would be sad.

A third classification of folk are in a clash of wills with God. In other words:
they are so determined not to give in to His demands that they would rather
be cremated alive than fall in line. In their minds: giving in means God wins;
which for them is not only unacceptable; but thoroughly intolerable.

Those people are tough; just as tough as the anti-commie crowd who
proudly announce: Better dead than red, and/or the pro-gun people who
defiantly announce: If you want my guns; you'll have to pry them loose from
my cold, dead fingers.

I'm not saying it's bad to be anti-commie, nor bad to be pro-gun. I'm just
using those people's attitude to illustrate the bitter impasse going on
between God and those who would rather run wild in Hell than be slaves in
Heaven.

Then there are people who have chosen Hell over the kingdom of God
because they'll be more at home in Hell where they'll fit in; whereas in the
kingdom they'd never fit in. And like they say: birds of a feather flock together;
viz: some prefer the company of certain kinds of rather unsavory folk; and
people in the kingdom will be so heavenly minded that they'd be no fun at all.

In addition; people in Hell are free to speak their minds, and use all the
purple epithets, double entendres, colorful metaphors, thoughtless remarks,
and F-bombs that they want; but in the kingdom, people have to be careful
with their choice of words.

So you see; for some folk Hell is the better choice; and were they to end up
in the kingdom of God instead; I think they would actually be very disappointed.

* We really have to kind of envy people who've made Hell their choice rather
than their luck. At least they know where they're going when they pass on
and have mentally prepared themselves for the worst; whereas a large
percentage of the world's approximately 2.5 billion Christians, and
approximately 1.9 billion Muslims, haven't a clue where they're headed.
They're praying for the best while in the back of their minds dreading the
worst because for people giving it their best shot to deserve God's approval,
the kingdom of God is never in the bag.

Rev 21:3-4 . . Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with
them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be
their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more
death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed
away.

Much of the the tears, the mourning, the crying, and the pain will most
certainly be related to the great white throne event depicted at Rev 20:11-15,
which will likely be a public spectacle.

In other words: people will have to watch as friends, associates, and loved
ones are literally pale with terror, lips trembling, mouths too dry to speak,
shrieking, sobbing, screaming, weeping, yelping, and bellowing like wounded
dogs as their eyes dart about in sheer white-knuckled panic, desperately
looking for someone, anyone, to help them as powerful celestial beings drag
them off to death akin to a foundry worker falling into a kettle of molten
iron.

The Bible says the lost will be given a fair trial (Jude 1:14-15) which
suggests some of us might be subpoenaed as witnesses for the prosecution
where will have to testify, not for but instead, against people we know and
love; including our own kin, i.e. moms, dads, grandparents, brothers, sisters,
and quite possibly spouses too.

Paul said the greatest of all gifts is love (1Cor 13:13). But let me tell you
something: Love is inconvenient. Sensitive folk cannot sit through a scene
like the one described above and not be moved by it. The effect will be so
overwhelming that nothing less than the power of God will suffice to get
them over it.

There may be, might be, some consolation relative to the lake of fire
depicted by Rev 20:11-15. The reason that I suspect it is because not only
will people's resurrected bodies be put to death in the lake, but also their
souls.

"Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather,
be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in Hell." (Matt
10:28)

The human soul makes its first appearance in Gen 2:7 whereby Adam
became a sentient being as opposed to a vegetable, viz: soul is that portion
of Adam's existence that made him a unique conscious individual.

Down in the netherworld, disembodied people exist as souls. (e.g. Isa14:9-10,
Ps 16:8-10, Luke 16:19-31, and Acts 2:25-31) but that situation is temporary.
The souls of the lost will be terminated in the lake.

Well; I'm seriously puzzled about something. If people cast into the lake of
fire won't be in there as sentient beings, then how am I supposed to
describe their situation without bucking conventional Christianity's traditional
belief that the lost are on track to everlasting conscious suffering?

...In Hell, is where we are today here on earth...
This is an amazingly bizarre statement. If this is Hell on earth, what will the real Hell be like? How did you come up with this doozie?

What do these Scriptures have to do with the OP Title? (wondering)
Nothing. "For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh" speaks of those who believers who walk in the Spirit and worship in the Spirit. They have been saved from Hell by the finished work of Christ.

As if Hell's environment isn't bad enough, people are in it as their selves;
viz: they are never going to be free from their own personalities-- their
phobias, their hang-ups, their inner conflicts, their memories, their anger,
their hostility, their rivalries, their prejudice, their bias, their angst, their
misogyny, their misandry, their resentments, their regrets, their gender
confusion, their disappointments, their bitterness, their animosity, their
passions, and their appetites.

Hell is even more of a hell than you might think because, having missed out
on the regeneration about which Christ spoke at John 3:3-8, and the
supernatural circumcision spoken of by Col 2:11; people take who they are
right along with them down there. Thus; suicide is not a good way to relieve
things like depression, despondence, failure, and/or despair. Ppeople take
that low state of mind right along with them to the other side; and their
sorrow will be even more intensified in fire when they realize that as bad as
things were up here on the surface, their situation up here wasn't nearly as
bad as their situation down below.

Suicide can help you escape things like cancer, credit card debt, an abusive
spouse, physical handicaps, pimples, a ruined reputation, a blighted life, a
bully, despots and tyrants, a life of neither promise nor future, prison,
grinding poverty, and the Mafioso; but suicide won't help you to escape you.

Reality, began at the risen Son revealed to those that got him killed for selfish reasons, that made an open spectacle of them, when saw him risen, Col. 2 best to read chapter 1 first, to keep it in context. How to see this all humbly, can only be revealed by God to each person, from God supernally
once anyone sees the truth of the death< burial, and resurrection given them to see it are changed forever in it, at least this I thank God to get revealed this, as I hope for all to get revealed this truth too
God, does just love us all, otherwise Son would have never gone to that cross willingly, to get us saved in belief, son is risen where new life here and now is given by God Father only. At least for me this I now see.

Have you not gone through troubles here on earth? have you not read, this earth is not his kingdom, he was representing
his kingdom is not of this earth, it is of Heaven, as we wait for a new earth and heaven?
evil does not attack, those it has in its grasp.
if evil is not threatened by a person, claiming belief, then that person might be decieved. Do you think when te Temple was destroyed in AD 70. That it was to be rebuilt as is today?
really? What does did Jesus say. The Temple will be destroyed, not one brick left on top of another. And man has rebuilt it.
God the risen God, Jesus is risen to live in and through us, the day is here John 4 where, we no longer worship in temples alone. It is from in us, given us by God to us as born again from his love and mercy of Son dying in our deserved place. At least for me
have a great day
be dead to first birth willingly, between God and you personall. To see the new life in the risen Christ work through you
thank you

Right Back Atcha!

I once heard former US President Obama reply to criticism with almost those
exact same words; viz: he didn't deny the truth of the criticism, but instead
employed the age-old tactic of accusing his critic of the very same things;
which, I guess in his mind; somehow mitigated his own culpability. But the
honorable response would have been for him to man-up and admit his
conduct was unbecoming rather than stoop to recriminations.

It's very common for human nature to respond to criticism the same way
Mr. Obama did. It's all the same as saying: Who are you to talk? Well;
regardless of who someone is to talk, if the criticism is true; then it stands;
viz: recriminations are futile. All they do is pull someone down with you so
you don't go down alone.

I predict there's going to be a quite a bit of anger, resentment, and
indignation at the great white throne event depicted at Rev 20:11-15 when
the lost see people in white who they know to be guilty of the very same
things for which they will be sentenced to the reservoir of flaming sulfur.

So; how might I describe human nature? I think I could accurately describe
it as both judgmental and defensive.

Rom 2:15 . .Their thoughts the meanwhile accusing or else excusing one
another.

Rev 20:11-12 . . I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from
whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no
place for them.

. . . And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books
were opened: and the dead were judged out of those things which were
written in the books, according to their works.

Here's a fantasized concept of how some of those trials might proceed.

Judge: Well; defendant, I see here in the books that you weren't entirely
honest in life.

Defendant: That's right your honor, but I can't be blamed for that.

Judge: Oh; and why not?

Defendant: Because I born that way.

Judge: Really?

Defendant: Yes your honor; you can see it for yourself in Psalm 58:3 where
it says: "The wicked are estranged from the womb; these who speak lies go
astray from birth".

Judge: So you were a Bible student in life? Well then you're probably aware
that the Bible not only says you were born to lie, but also that dishonesty is
prohibited by Leviticus 19:11 which says: "You shall not deal falsely, neither
lie one to another."

Now the thing is; had you not been such an accomplished student of the
Bible, I might've had cause to acquit, but now I cannot because you knew
dishonesty is wrong. So then:

"All liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone,
which is the second death." (Rev 21:8)

I see this: you are correct as we the people of/in unredeemed flesh definitely do what you have said.
To me, I am growing daily in learning the new given me to not do the old I did, (I repeat given me). And it is not by me deciding to not do it. That traps people in sin over and over again. It did me for a long while. And therefore, to this day still can, being in unredeemed flesh nature, has and could again. I admit I am not perfect, never have been, never will be, yet God is: for me to walk new by Faith in God that has done, by Son, what was needed for me (reconciled) on that cross, before ever born here on earth. To believe God, receive from God and be new in God, through risen Son, where new life is at to stand in belief, Son is risen after he first took away sin for us all to stand in thanksgiving and praise Psalm 100:4 103:12, Ezekiel 36:26

Therefore this ? remains for each person, that claims to belief God?
Are you, yourself growing in grace, or are you, me and others, being only fed milk still. Only on soft food. It might be time to grow new.

1 Corinthians 3

Living Bible

3 Dear brothers, I have been talking to you as though you were still just babies in the Christian life who are not following the Lord but your own desires; I cannot talk to you as I would to healthy Christians who are filled with the Spirit. 2 I have had to feed you with milk and not with solid food because you couldn’t digest anything stronger. And even now you still have to be fed on milk.3 For you are still only baby Christians, controlled by your own desires, not God’s. When you are jealous of one another and divide up into quarreling groups, doesn’t that prove you are still babies, wanting your own way? In fact, you are acting like people who don’t belong to the Lord at all. 4 There you are, quarreling about whether I am greater than Apollos, and dividing the church. Doesn’t this show how little you have grown in the Lord?[a]
5 Who am I, and who is Apollos, that we should be the cause of a quarrel? Why, we’re just God’s servants, each of us with certain special abilities, and with our help you believed. 6 My work was to plant the seed in your hearts, and Apollos’ work was to water it, but it was God, not we, who made the garden grow in your hearts. 7 The person who does the planting or watering isn’t very important, but God is important because he is the one who makes things grow. 8 Apollos and I are working as a team, with the same aim, though each of us will be rewarded for his own hard work.9 We are only God’s coworkers. You are God’s garden, not ours; you are God’s building, not ours.

therefore am I learning new and leaving the no good things as gone, am I learning from God, not from self or man playing god anymore? I trust so?
Working out my own salvation with trust to God to teach me what is beneficial for me and what is not.
Such as drinking stopped in me by me agreeing with God it was not good for me to continue in, happened at age 29, I am 67 now. Oh and am still in process, understanding, what is good for me and what is not, seeing not to be caught up under Law anymore

Romans 7:10

Living Bible

10 So as far as I was concerned, the good law which was supposed to show me the way of life resulted instead in my being given the death penalty.
Even though Death happened from Adam to Moses, when the Law got put in place it revealed man's sinfulness, and sin became worse than when was not put in place, People trying to not sin, found themselves sinning all the more

I have no righteousness, None!
Of my own ever, never will, never have
Yet wait a sec, I do have righteousness, "It is not mine ever!"
It is God's through Son that is risen to be given us, and is given to those that do believe God, will see new, at least begin to (Eph. 1:6-7-13), as God knows who is who and what is what in each person Romnans 8:15-16). Not for me to decide that about anyone, but to be aware, wise as a serpent, remaining harmless as a dove, just as Son did, when he went to that cross willingly once for us all. (Hebrews 10:10)

Jude 1:7 . . Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar
manner to these, gave themselves over to fornication and gone after strange
flesh

The Greek word translated "fornication" basically means to be utterly
unchaste.

A lack of chastity is exemplified by a broad spectrum of unholy carnality
including, but not limited to adultery, incest, living together, casual sex,
swinger sex, wife swapping, sex between consenting adults, sex between
consenting minors, sex between teachers and underage students, sex with a
sex toy, sex with a mannequin and/or sex with an inflatable doll, etc. To be
"utterly" unchaste implies not just a preference for those kinds of sexual
behaviors, but an addiction to them.

The word for "strange" basically means other or different, i.e. out of the
ordinary, viz: men sleeping with women isn't strange. But men sleeping
with men, and/or women sleeping with women, is rather odd, i.e. deviant.

* Mr. Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty got himself in hot water for taking a
stand against certain kinds of sexual conduct. Though his comments were
politically unacceptable, Mr. Robertson is on good solid Christian ground
because LGBT are depicted in the Bible as shameful, indecent, and
unnatural.

Rom 1:26-27 . . God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women
exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men
also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for
one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men.

2Pet 2:6 . . He turned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes--
condemned them to destruction --making them an example to those who
afterward would live impiously.

Rev 21:8 . .The vile and the sexually immoral-- their place will be in the
fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.

The Greek word translated "vile" basically pertains to that which is repulsive
and disgusting. (Pride is definitely the wrong name for an LGBT event.)

(Pride is definitely the wrong name for an LGBT event.)

taking away anyone else's free will is what God has said from day one. God did not even take away Adams free will did God?
Adam freely ate and got lost in God's Spirit not with him from then on.
This passed to all in each person's first birth of flesh and blood. Proven in the first testament of the Bible. Having gotten born with the knowledge of good and bad, To decide to run things or turn to God in trust to God to teach them the truth knowing the knowledge of good and evil
The evil is taking away anyone else's free will, That is exactly why God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. The people not allowing free will of anyone but themselves.
As Abraham asked God, if you find Ten people there in belief to you as righteous, will you stop to destroy them? Yes God answered and yet did not find Ten.
It is unbelief to God that has killed and kills. the first Adam ate from that tree of knowledge in "Unbelief". Sin passed to all flesh to be in unbelief to God. Son reversed that first curse by his done work and going to that cross to take away sin from Father's sight for us the people to appreciate and ask for new life in the risen Christ and learn new from God over people in charge here on earth and even people we like or want to follow after. We see to not and learn from God anew, who still talks to us personally, at least me now.
That is/has been my journey towards the mark of the high calling. I deserve death and Christ thankfully took that for me and all others too. Not to take for granted as the Corinthians did at first. They got the thought of?
Hey you are forgiven aren't you? Yes was the response. Well then. see that woman over there isn't she cute, go ahead and have her, you can now do that, go ahead, you are forgiven by God, and remain as forgiven right? Yes
Therefore the people, those Corinthains Paul wrote to them about misusing this reconciliation given them. They took away others free will from them and raped, abused and ate all the food even drank all the wine, without any care in God's love for us all
Paul had to put them back under Law, had to treat them as immature children
God's done work in being reconciled to them for to appreciate and not take for granted.

seeing new in compassionate love from God to you, me and all others to believe God too, does the changing, not the trying to do, for under Law once anyone got put there, became a worse sinner, now being aware of what sin actually is. It is "Unbelief to God"
That is what the first Adam did had "Unbelief" to God and the second Adam, Jesus the Christ remained in belief to God all the way to death in our stead. That had to be done first, before any new life could ever get given anyone
Hebrews 7:11-12
Now watch out for the leaven of the Pharisees (preachers today) Self righteousness is masqueraded as doing good for others to mentor after and God is n to number one, yet is claimed as is, when God is not
Matthew 7:23
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

God will judge and reveal each person's motive, if, whoever's motive is not right with God, it is time to change one's mindset to trust God over it all in risen Son, and leave being selfish in anything behind them. Phil 3 has much depth to say as anyone reads this, please read it to know God above it all thank you, and stop being a person better than others, Luke 18:9-14

Peace is actually one of the negative aspects of Heaven. Things like discord,
hatred, factions, cliques, mistrust, prejudice, bias, caste systems, double
standards, partiality, favoritism, deceit, surmising, dishonesty, gossip,
slander, sarcasm, cynicism, ridicule, envy, rivalry, resentment, avarice,
greed, gossip, character assassination, kangaroo courts, complaining,
tattling, meddling, confrontations, activism, quarrels, assertiveness, chafing,
trickery, grudging, stonewalling, bitterness, scams, silent treatments,

. . . revenge, stubbornness, cold shouldering, snobbery, egotism,
dominance, demeaning comments, insults, rebellion, arrogance, attitudes,
subterfuge, treachery, betrayal, suspicion, conceit, vanity, superiority
complexes, depression, melancholy, panic attacks, bi-polar disorders,
antisocial behaviors, sociopathy, crime, war, despotism, oppression,
injustice, human rights abuses, character assassination, etc, etc, et al and
ad nausea don't exist there.

That could be a problem for people who thrive in a social structure where
those practices are the norm. Adjusting to Heaven might be too much to ask
of them. For example: people who've spent much of their lives behind bars
sometimes find it very difficult to adjust to life on the outside because to
them it's like an alien culture in an alternate universe.

Heaven is Joy beyond measure to any human flesh and blood, that first birth no one can fathom, each need born new as born again by God Father of the risen Son to see new and be new in love and mercy as given them. To reside in that, to know not how, yet to stand in beleif to get through it all, only having trust to God Father in risen Son for them. No longer wondering and wandering because of wondering
One can say once born new by God as Born again by God, Thank you, thank you, thank you. No longer caring how it might be in Heaven, once get there, are actually there now in God's Spirit and Truth given them to stand in, daily, at least for me I now see in thanksgiving and praise humbly, being no better than anyone else ever.
Amazing grace this is as John Newton saw it, when was a slave trader, and turned around, not by having to, by choosing to.
Amazing Grace that cannot not be explained, only be tried to be explained, each person to see it has to experience it from God or one does not get it to see new. unless Father reveals it

FAQ: What sane father would condemn His own children, the work of His
creation, to eternal punishment simply because they don't agree with him?

REPLY: According to Matt 5:9, people who quarrel with God, and/or argue
and debate with Him, do not qualify as His children. They're identity thieves;
like those sissy men going around identifying as women so they can compete
in women's sports and use ladies' restrooms.

FYI: While true that the God of Genesis created mankind, that does not eo
ipso make every man His progeny. For example: Steve Jobs and Steve
Wozniak are the fathers of the Apple II computer but that machine was their
progeny only in a manner of speaking rather than in reality.

John 1:12-13 . .To all who accepted him, to those who believed in his
name, he gave the right to become children of God-- children not born of
natural descent, nor of human decision, nor of a husband's passion, but born
of God.

The birth spoken of in that verse doesn't make people God's paternal
descendants as if He reproduced. It's an act of God whereby folks become
regenerated creatures who are then taken into His home by means of
adoption. (2Cor 5:17, Eph 2:10, & Rom 8:15, Gal 4:4-5, Eph 1:5)

Bottom line: God doesn't condemn His own children to eternal punishment;
but He won't hesitate to condemn yours if they neglect to follow Christ's
instructions.

John 3:3 . . I assure you: unless you are born again, you can never see
the Kingdom of God.

John 3:6 . . Don't be surprised at my statement that you must be born
again.

Misogyny was given quite a bit of negative press during former US President
Donald Trump's administration; while misandry was condoned as if it were
acceptable. But malice is unacceptable with God on any level; and I think we
have to agree to the possibility that there are just as many, if not more,
man haters in Hell as there are woman haters because women are not a
protected species with God; nor is their gender a mitigating factor. They will
be judged solely on the basis of their lives the same as men.

Rom 2:9-11. .There will be trouble and distress for every human being
who does evil: For God does not show favoritism.

* The disturbing scene depicted at Rev 20:11-15 will be presided over by
none other than the sweet little babe away in a manger.

John 5:21-23 . . Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all
judgment to the Son

Acts 17:31 . . He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice
by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by
raising him from the dead.

I would very much dislike it as a woman infected with misandry because in
the end, it will be a "toxic male" that dooms man-hating women to the lake
of fire and thereby permanently ruin any chances they might have had for
happiness in the future. For all eternity, those hostile females will grind their
teeth with hot tears and white-knuckle fury that they ultimately lost out on
everything because of a man's obsessive control over their lives. Hell is bad
enough as it is, but I would imagine that existing there seething with rage
makes one's circumstances there a hell within Hell.

Isa 14:12-17 . . For you said to yourself; I will ascend to heaven and set
my throne above God's stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods far
away in the north. I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most
High.

. . . But instead, you will be brought down to the place of the dead, down to
its lowest depths. Everyone there will stare at you and ask; Can this be the
one who shook the earth and the kingdoms of the world? Is this the one who
destroyed the land and made it into a wilderness? Is this the king who
demolished the world's greatest cities and had no mercy on his captives?

In context; that passage targets an ancient Babylonian king, but serves to
illustrate an important point: Hell is a level field. Look around you at the
celebrities, the socialites, the news anchors, the politicians, the stock
brokers, the Warren Buffets, the empire builders, the financial giants, the
television moguls, the movie-makers, the civic leaders, the entrepreneurs,
the fashion leaders, the intellectuals, the best-sellers, the Rock and Roll Hall
of Famers,

. . . the Olympic stars and professional athletes, the Lewis & Clarks, the
Charles Lindberghs, the Nobel Prize winners, the shuttle astronauts, the
Hillary Clintons, the Barak Obamas, the Steve Jobs, the Mark Zuckerbergs,
the Regis Philbins, the Oprah Winfrys, Congress, Supreme Court justices, the
winners of Oscar, Tony, and Grammy awards. In the Bible's netherworld,
those kinds of people are just one more skull in an ever-growing population
of losers.

Luke 16:19-23 . .There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine
linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named
Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's
table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

. . .The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to
Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. In hades, where he
was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham in the distance, with Lazarus
by his side.

Can you just imagine that rich man's chagrin to see that homeless wretch,
who at one time dumpster-dived his own garbage, now in comfort while he
himself is in misery? Isn't it interesting that Lazarus' name is given, but the
rich man's isn't. Because he's now a forgotten man who no longer matters.
He had a great life, but it wasn't permanent.

* People aren't eo ipso wicked because they're successful. It's success to the
exclusion of God that's wicked. Compare Luke 12:15-21 where a successful
man is depicted as totally involved with his enterprises while not lending a
single thought to the brevity of life.
