There is a difference here between first forgiveness from Jesus at salvation for our sin, and then the daily walk of forgiving others.
Forgiving others comes out of the love shown us by Jesus in sealing (for those that are converted) us.
It may not happen after we are born again. That doesn't mean we haven't been born again.

Read the parable Jesus is asked a question , the LORD is asked and answers

( Remember it's already established he cannot pay the debt so it was forgiven up front but now he wouldn't share the mercy and he's recalled and the debt has been re instated now he owes it all and must pay just as he forced the other man to do he have no mercy now he has none )

Belief is when we listen to him hear what he's saying and accept it begin to think it's the way it is so we start to act upon it as if we believe it's all true . Hearing things like this from Gods own word

If they believe they are born anew understanding Jesus suffered and died for thier sins and he rose up again for thier justification somthey can live a new life without sin and without condemnation for hier sins which were remitted . Now that they are a believer in Jesus and have no sin , they can come near to him and hear his words of life and good godly judgement such as " since non if you are perfect and sinless , be merciful tomkne another and when you face judgement for your deeds like all men will you will receive the same abundant mercy multiplied as much as God is greater than man
It's only because of his mercy we can be made alive and have our sins remitted and live a new life in his presence at that point we don't want to reject what he's teaching believers we want to come near and listen to our lord and learn from him as children hear and believe their father teaching them .....our foundation should be what the lord taught believers in him always

He's simply accepting what the lord said about forgiveness and not rejecting it based on his own ideas or what he's been told by others it doesn't upset him that Jesus taught his people to forgive others and walk in those acceptable things of God like mercy towards each other as he gave to us all and has for us .

Following commands isn't how someone is converted. You are preaching works for salvation. There will be fruit from someone being converted.. but that doesn't mean they WILL always forgive others. God wants them to.. they should.. but He doesn't abandon them because they don't.

someone that holds grudges doesn’t want to hear about how they need to forgive , someone who’s got lustful thou th a about another doesn’t want to hear about adultery of the heart , someone who’s stealing doesn’t want to hear about not stealing ect but this is the very thing that causes repentance to accept those exhortations of the lord
When we can acknolwedge the truth the lord came to preach
“in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”

If I won’t forgive and I acknolwedge the truth it will bring me to repentance . It’s like this on every area we find things we’re doing wrong and he corrects us through our faith in him and hearing the truth

Forgiveness is amazingly wonderful and sooooo freeing and life giving!!!
One does need wisdom to not stay and suffer in an abusive life threatening situation but, in regards to normal typical offenses, forgiving is well worth doing!!
I’ve learned to seal my decision to forgive with an act of kindness- a kind word, gift, or prayer for the offender.
I do NOT try to be their best friend, I just simply remove all bitterness, resentment and unforgiveness from my heart towards them.
One does need wisdom to not stay and suffer in an abusive life threatening situation but, in regards to normal typical offenses, forgiving is well worth doing!!

what a Christian wants to do is believe what the judge said will save them that day when they have to do that , remember what he said about that day ?
“There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day. “
if we have to be judged by our deeds and we do , we want to have mercy that day so we don’t be condemned
“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.””
