Another important phrase. Was Jesus's message mainly about physical or spiritual realities coming into play in history? Was the heavenly and earthly administration about to change?
The promise changed from this creation to a new one he’s promised believers in him
The ot was based on inheriting this creation
“In the beginning
God created the heaven and the earth.”
Genesis 1:1 KJV
man was given earth and we corrupted it by rejecting Gods ways and so
“
The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath
the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
The
earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.”
Isaiah 24:5-6, 19-20
about also he began promising this to the faithful who listened
“For,
behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and
the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for,
behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.”
Isaiah 65:17-18 KJV
Aeschylus testament corresponds to the promise of inheritance this world we know now is defiled look around and so it’s purpose now is this
“but
the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the
heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat,
the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
….
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
2 Peter 3:7, 10, 13 KJV
The old covenant is about this temporary world and life before anyone was promised eternal life before we were given the Holy Ghost of Jesus the Christ before we had remission of sins and before we were promised by the creator a new world to come later that we can’t look and see but we know by faith he will keep his promises
there are two testaments in the bi ke one is about this world the other is about the kingdom of God the new one
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”
Revelation 21:1-5 KJV
the word is also new that corresponds to the salvation covenant and not the one ministering death for sin and based on mans transgression d fall
The new is based on Jesus success and righteousness and overcoming death removing sin ….
the spiritual reality is to hear the New Testament promises and believe it brings us to this place
“If ye then be risen with Christ,
seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
Colossians 3:1-2 KJV
this world is lost for certain the New Testament is trying to redeem us form th e new eternal one to come forth when Jesus does
