Yes it is. Russia has no designs on Western Europe. They were actually supplying Western Europe with oil and gas, and would have been glad to continue doing that.
But when you think about it carefully, all the countries along the Western border of Russia should be held accountable for Russian aggression in Crimea and Ukraine. Knowing the history of the Soviet Union, the nature of the Russian "Bear", and the later annexation of Georgia, Chechnya, and Moldova, they had a responsibility to put together a defense alliance and a defense barrier along that border long before 2014, and long after 2014. But they all just sat back and did nothing. Now the West wants to provoke a war directly with Russia, since the proxy war through Ukraine has failed. And they want a civilian army to battle nuclear weapons!
