Did giants really exist?
Do you believe the children born to ancient giants, were human, or were they part demon and part human?
There are many opinions out there on that question, some claim the giants were the ancestors of Seth, the son of Noah. Others teach they were demons who took on the form of men and had inter-course with the daughters of men.
My question would be, have archeologist ever discovered or uncovered evidence that giants existed in our past?”
If so, who was the tallest male and female ever recorded in modern history.’ The tallest woman, Anna Haining Swan, a Canadian, was born on 8/6/1846. She reached the height of 7 feet, 11 inches. Robert Wadlow is said to be the tallest man ever recorded. Born in the United States, he was measured to be 8 feet, 11 inches. There have been reports of other taller people, but these were unverified.
Let’s talk about the finger of a man found in Egypt several years ago. The photo was taken in 1988 by Gregor Spoerri, a student of Egyptian history. Only now was the picture of the finger being made public. Gregor reported he had met a man who owned an oblong-shaped bag containing a man’s finger, so he asked the owner if he could take a few photos and also have the finger X-rays. The man agreed. The finger itself measured slightly under fifteen inches. They estimated the person it belonged to would have been at least sixteen feet, six inches tall. Spoerri tried to purchase the relic, but the man refused, saying, ‘It’s a family treasure.’ The x-ray proved beyond a doubt that it was a human finger.
A giant footprint was found in South Africa. The print was impressed in granite, one of the hardest rocks on earth, and measured slightly under four feet. No chisel marks were in or around the print, so it could only mean the footprint formed when someone walked there before the mud or dirt hardened. Whoever made this print would have had to be over twenty-seven feet tall.
Is it no wonder the men with Caleb said to Moses, “All the people that we saw in (the land) are men of great stature. We saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.” The whole thing seems impossible, doesn’t it?
In the Paiute Indian territory, there is a cave called Lovelock. Inside the caves were the remains of an eleven-foot-tall giant discovered in 1904 but only made known recently. In the caves and tunnels found in Death Valley, an explorer discovered the remains of a nine-foot-tall human skeleton.
In 2013, a heavy storm hit Ecuador. After the storm ended, in Aloah province, a female skeleton was unearthed. It measured seven feet four inches in height. Five others were buried in deep, elaborate graves in the same area, measuring between seven and eight feet. After closely examining a sixth skeleton, Austrian artifact researcher Klaus Dona and others concluded the man that belonged to that particular skeleton had to be twenty-five feet tall’.
So, it does appear the Bible is right when it speaks of giants on the earth? Numbers 13:33, ‘And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers.” Only the books of Genesis and Numbers speak of these giants called Nephilim. Genesis mentioned them before the flood and Numbers long after the flood.
Does this suggest a supernatural influence? Except for Noah and his family, every living creature and every human on earth died in the waters of the flood. We know natural causes or disasters cannot kill demons. These Nephilim may have shed their human flesh when the waters came and returned to the spirit world. But there is a second possibility; giantism may be in man’s D.N.A. Some outside influence may have triggered the giantism in one of Noah’s sons. If that so, it most likely was Noah’s son Ham.
1 Samuel 17:4, “And there went out a champion (among the Philistines) named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.”
There are 21.4 inches in a cubit and 9 inches in a span; this would have made Goliath almost 11 feet tall.”
Numbers 13:32, “All the people that we saw in (Canaan) are men of a great stature (size).”
Deuteronomy 3:11-12, “For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold, his bed was a bed of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? Nine cubits (15 ½ ft.) was the length thereof, and four cubits (6.4 ft.) the breath of it after the cubit of a man.”
2 Samuel 21:20. “There was a battle in Gath, where a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, --- and he was born to the giant.”
The Bible mentions people with six fingers and toes. Has there ever been any six-fingered or six-toed people found alive?’ There is a tribe in Ecuador today called the Waorani, where many in their tribe have six fingers and six toes. They are normal in size but exhibit these strange characteristics and are also violent to the extreme. In their preceding five generations, fifty percent of their deaths resulted from homicides; they also engaged in this continual but deadly internal vendetta. But medically, they have no trace of cancer, no cardiovascular disease, no high blood pressure, no allergies, and no known disease familiar to us.
