I agree with you that OSAS (Once Saved Always Saved) is not biblical. Now, as you may be aware, just because some believer states they deny OSAS does not mean they are correct in regard to the topic of sin and salvation. For example, Free Will Baptists deny OSAS and yet on the other hand, they also believe you can sin and still be saved on some level by having a belief alone in Jesus. They believe the only way to commit apostasy is if you deny Jesus; But they believe you can sin and still be saved as long as you believe in Jesus as your Savior (Which is wrong).
Anyway, I watched most of Vlad’s video. While I agree with you 100% that OSAS or Eternal Security is false, there are some things about Vlad’s teachings that I strongly disagree with.
#1. Vlad mentions Hebrews 6:4-6. Hebrews 6:4-6 is talking about apostasy. Vlad says that God would take the Christian who apostatized back if they desired to do so. But he says the person simply would not want to. That is not what the text says. The Bible basically says that those who have been enlightened, etc. cannot be renewed back to repentance. The Jewish Christians who wanted to escape persecution as a Christian by pretending to be a part of the Jewish’ religion again would in fact be committing apostasy that they cannot repent of. I know it is sad, but this is the reality of the Scriptures in how it reads plainly.
#2. Vlad mentions Galatians 5:4. It states, “Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.” Vlad says this is a case where if a person seeks to be justified by good works, they are fallen from grace. But this is talking about the Laws of Moses, and circumcision so as to be saved (See: Galatians 5:2). Remember, Acts 15 addressed this heresy before. A certain sect of Jews tried to convince certain Gentile Christians to be circumcised to be saved and to keep the Laws of Moses. But the apostles at a council had said that they did not have to keep the Laws of Moses. Vlad says on his website, “…we don’t maintain our salvation by doing good works. God’s divine grace saves and sustains us. The grace of God saves but it also teaches us to deny sin.” (
Source). Titus 2:11-12 says, “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;” So yes. It is true that the grace of God teaches us to deny ungodliness. So Vlad is correct on that point of the passage. But he is incorrect by not believing the latter half of Titus 2:12. if you were to carefully read Titus 2:11-12 fully, it also says that His grace teaches us to live righteously and godly in this present world, too. Living righteously involves good works. 1 John 3:7 says he that does righteousness is righteous. 1 John 3:10 co-mingles doing righteousness with also loving your brother as a part of being of God. There are two types of sin.
(1). Sins of Commission: These are the “Thou shalt not” type sins, like: Thou shalt not commit murder, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not covet, etcetera.
(2). Sins of Omission: These are sins that you can simply commit by doing nothing for the Lord in this life. Remember, the unprofitable servant was cast into outer darkness in the Parable of the Talents. Examples of sins of Omission:
(a) Not loving God and your neighbor (Which is the poor). In Luke 10:25-28, we learn that Jesus agrees with the lawyer that to love God and to love your neighbor is a part of inheriting eternal life. The lawyer asked who was his neighbor, and Jesus told us it was basically the beat up poor man on the side of the road that we are to help. This is the example of loving your neighbor. So helping the poor and the unfortunate is a part of inheriting eternal life. We see this even in Matthew 25:31-46. Those believers who did not help the poor were said to have not done so unto Jesus and they were told to go away into everlasting punishment. Helping the poor is a good work.
(b) Not preaching the gospel in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. Jesus said in Luke 9:62 that if we put our hand to the plow and we look back, we are not fit for the Kingdom of God. This means that if we start to preach the gospel as mentioned 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 in that Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and risen the third day for a person’s salvation, and we turn back from doing so, we are not going to enter the Kingdom of God. We are not fit to enter.
(c) Not loving the brethren. We are also told in the Scripture to love our brothers or sisters (fellow believers). John says that if we walk in the light, the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7). This is loving your brother according to the indirect wording in 1 John 2:9-11. The opposite of not loving one’s brother or sister is hating them. 1 John 3:15 says if we hate our brother, we are like a murderer, and no murderer has eternal life abiding in them. This is why Jesus said to Peter, if you love me, feed my sheep. Meaning, Peter was to love the brethren by preaching the Word of God to them and by taking care of them physically if needed.
(d) Not providing for your own. 1 Timothy 5:8 says if any does not provide for his own he is worse than an unbeliever (infidel). Providing for your own takes hard work. This is yet another good work we must do or we will not enter the Kingdom of God.
These are all works of love. They also must be done out of a pure heart of love, as well. We cannot fake it. Paul makes it clear that if we give our body to be burned and we have not love, it profits us nothing. We must have the love of God in us whereby we will love others by our actions and not just in mere words alone.
Vlad appears to only recognize sins of Commission alone. He does not appear to see that there are sins of Omission in the Bible. Galatians 6:8-9 is Paul teaching “well doing” (good works) by sowing to the Spirit to reap eternal life. We are told to keep at this and faint not in this task so we can reap life everlasting. We are not saved by good works in our Initial Salvation when we are first saved by God’s grace through faith when we believe the gospel message in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, and we seek forgiveness with the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9, Romans 10:13). However, Vlad’s point of bringing up John 15:6 to refute OSAS is actually a refutation of his very own belief in deny Sanctification for salvation (Which involves good works). John 15:6 is proof that you need good works as a part of salvation. If we do not bear fruit which are good works, we will be cut off from the vine and cast into the fire.
#3. In another video
here, Vlad says a Christian will go to Heaven if they did not confess a sin. He says we are forgiven of future sin, which is a false teaching. 1 John 1:9 says that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins. Nowhere does John say we are forgiven of sins without confessing our sins. Proverbs 28:13 says he that confesses and forsakes sin shall have mercy. Why would Jesus warn us against looking upon a woman in lust (a one time sin), and with it causing us to be in danger of hellfire if we were forgiven of all sin by a belief alone on Jesus? (See: Matthew 5:28-30).
#4. He also twists Scripture in John 10 to suggest that if a Pastor is not delivering demons out of Christians, they are just a hireling. If you were to read John chapter 10, the Shepherd here is only in reference to Jesus Christ, and not pastors. There is also no mention of casting out demons out of Christians, either. He has a whole ministry on casting out demons out of Christians for even minor things. But faithful and true Christians have the Holy Spirit. What fellowship does light have with darkness? See this video
here to learn more.
#5. Vlad says demons have sex with certain believers at night time while they are asleep and they have spiritual babies (See this video
here). This has to be one of the most bizarre and odd teachings I have ever heard, and it clearly not biblical.
