Got the same issue -
SO the teacher asks the student to write a sentence containing, "Defeat", "Defense", and "Detail".
SO the kid comes back with: "De feet of de cat went over de fence before de tail".
In the old days, another way of saying "yes" was to ask "is the Pope a Catholic"?? But that doesn't work any more.

Yes I can post something funny,
Last year after my dad died the Mennonites said they would help pay for the funeral, so as a token of gratitude I sent my tithe to their church, we kept wondering what happened because it never arrived.
Canada Post gave me a refund on the money order that got lost in the mail. Yesterday I got a call from pastor Murray, He just got the money order with the letter I sent yesterday because a postal worker reminded him to check on a mail box the school had and they forgot about.

Kid comes home from Sunday school and mom says, “So what did you do in Sunday School today?”
“We sang a song about a bear,” he said.
“Really?” Says mom, thinking he’s telling a whopper. “What was the name of the song?”
He stated, “Gladly the cross i’d bear.” Wah wah… hope that helps 😃

That reminds me of the little boy who told his mom that God's name is Andy. A little perplexed, the mother asked the child why he believed God's name was Andy. Because, said the boy, it's in the song we sang in Sunday school. Curious, the mom asked which song. You know mom the boy said....
