There is one baptism that WE must do and that's baptism on water which goes back to John's. Baptism unless otherwise stated is always immersion in water. How does one get baptized otherwise and what scriptures state this that you're relying on? How were the Jews on the day of Pentecost baptized and how was the Ethiopian eunuch baptized as recoreded in Acts 8?
The first Christians were Jews who still believed in many of the Jewish laws and traditions and that you can become spiritually clean in the eyes of God by getting immersed in living (moving) water. That is why they all came from around the river Jordan to get baptized by John and that is why the eunuch asked to get baptized. You said,"Baptism unless otherwise stated is always immersion in water." John said that he baptized with water, but someone else is going to baptize with a different medium (the Holy Spirit).

Ezek 36: 25-27 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean; from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep mine ordinances, and do them.
What God said that He was going to do to Israel, He is doing now to Jews and Gentiles. He cleanses us through the blood of Jesus, and perfects us by filling us with His Spirit who fills our hearts with divine love for God and everyone else. When all our thoughts and actions are motivated by love, we are obeying the Spirit of the Law. Sprinkling clean water is obviously not literal since literal water will not clean them from their idols. Sprinkling of water was symbolic of cleansing of sins which He does now through Jesus Christ. If water baptism makes us spiritually clean, then we wouldn't need Jesus, would we?
Matt 20: 17- 19 And Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside along the way, and said unto them, Behold, we go to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, And shall deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him. And the third day He shall rise again.
Matt 20: 22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto Him, We are able. In verse 18 and 19, Jesus is explaining the events that He has to experience when they go up to Jerusalem. In verse 22, He calls this experience of events that He has to go through a Baptism.
Luke 12: 50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I constrain till it be accomplish!
Again, Jesus refers to an event that He has to experience as a Baptism.
In both of those scriptures in Matthew, Jesus was not talking about water baptism.

Something I've previously posted that addresses this common misconception.
Subject: Spiritual baptism

And who was it that John the Baptist was referring to? The apostles.

Read the words of John the Baptist in Luke 3:16, and Jesus words to his apostles in Luke 24:49, then the words of Peter in Acts 1:4-5, then Acts 2:1-4, then Acts 2:16-17.
And then read the various accounts of the apostle's being endowed with the "power from on high" or Holy Spirit as demonstrated by the laying on of THEIR hands, enabling the Holy Spirit to be manifested, commonly referred to as Spiritual Gifts; Acts 5:12, Acts 6:6-8, Acts 8:9-19, Acts 19:6, 2 Tim 1:6.

Note also the slight difference in what was said as recorded in Luke 3:16, Luke 24:49 and the recounted words of these scriptures by Peter in Acts 1:4-5; and also the wording in the Greek interlinear for both Luke 24:49 and Acts 1:5.

Luke 24:49 KJV

49And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Acts 1:4-5 KJV

4And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. 5For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

And the interlinear Greek says Holy Spirit in Acts 1:5 as opposed to " power from on high", and the interlinear for Luke 24:49 says "you should be clothed with from on high power".
The Holy Spirit baptism was upon the apostles as recorded in Acts 2 above; no one else.
The words "they" and "them" refers to the apostles. The anomalies are Acts 2 and 10 wherein the Spirit fell miraculously and unilaterally on both the apostles and Gentiles validating the events, as it was the beginning of the church in Jerusalem (Jews 1st) and then in Caesarea (Gentiles).

You said,
"And who was it that John the Baptist was referring to? The apostles."

John 1: 32-33 And John bore witness, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon Him. And I knew Him not; but He that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, the same is He who baptizeth with the Holy Spirit.
The apostles weren't even chosen then. That is a rediculus assertion.

No kidding! But, John's words were pertaining to future events. Even Acts 1 bares this out as it refers back to John's words.

Acts 1:4-5

Holy Spirit
4And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. 5For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Isaiah 63: 9-10 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of His presence saved them; and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bore them, and carried them all the days of old. But they rebelled, and vexed His Holy Spirit; therefore, He was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.
In this scripture Isaiah is stating that the Holy Spirit is the angel of God's (the Father's) presence. Where His Holy Spirit is, the Father is. The Father speaks, communicates, empowers, and gives authority through His Holy Spirit.
Jesus states that the words He spoke were not His words but the words of He who sent Him (the Father). After Jesus died and then rose again, He told His apostles to wait in Jerusalem because He was going to the Father to get glorified and then He was going to send the Comforter (the Holy Spirit of the Father). When Jesus went back to get glorified, He was given a spiritual body full of the Holy Spirit of the Father so that both the Father and Son would be able to communicate, speak through, empower, and give authority to those that the Father chooses. All that are in heaven are there in the Father's name. That means that they are baptized in the name of the Father and are sealed with His Holy Spirit. It is the Father who gives Christ all that He has, including the title of God, the power of God, His spiritual body (made up of born again believers in the truth) , His righteousness, and the love that they share.
There is only one baptism, and that is the baptism in the name of the Father (being predetermined, predestined, chosen, elected, or written in the Book of Life before the world was). The baptism in the name of the Son will be sure to follow through the preaching about forgiveness of sins through Jesus, who will then baptize in the name of the Holy Spirit of the Father and Son (the angel of their presence) to create a new being (John 1: 13 Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, not of the will of man, but of God.)
Both the Father and Son communicate with and fill the hearts of the recipients with the same divine Love that they share so that the recipients would be perfected by obeying the Spirit of the Law which is to love God first with all your heart, mind, and soul , and second, to love everyone else as you love yourself. Sharing the Holy Spirit of the Father makes both Jesus and us one with the Father.

There is zero indication in John's words that he was talking about apostles baptizing with the Holy Spirit. People get baptized with the Holy Spirit when Jesus is preached to them, they believe, and then it is Jesus who does the baptizing and not with water.

There are no scriptures that support your views, nowhere, not one, nor are there any that even somewhat infer what you're stating. No one gets baptized in the Holy Spirit by someone preaching to them. That's nonsense

Or gentiles converted in acts chapter ten

“And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

And they of the circumcision ( Jews ) which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.

Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:42-48‬ ‭

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: and there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:10-11‬ ‭

“As the people were in expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Christ, John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The people, them, and you are all the same individuals. Does you refer to the people in “I baptize you” and the apostles only in “he will baptize you”? Doesn’t add up.

John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

Now what John said prophetically about Jesus being fulfilled

“and, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

….But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭1:4-5, 8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

a few days later they are baptized with the Holy Ghost and fire just like John told them would happen

“And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

….But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judæa, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:2-4, 14, 16-18, 21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Peter then preaches about Jesus death and resurrection and his authority then they ask what shall we do ? Peter answers by the Holy Ghost

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

( some believed Peter )

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38-39, 41‬ ‭KJV‬‬

receiving the Holy Spirit is not the same thing as getting baptized for remission of sins like all of Jesus followers did before and after the cross like this believer

“Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:35-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Baptism is written in the Bible plainly and it happens to be performed in water . What makes it matter is Gods promise we need to believe the gospel d get baptized for remission of sins it actually has a lot of effectual meaning according to the Bible

when you believe something is true , you will by human nature act upon it

I e if Elon musk showed up at your door and told you he made you an account for 1 million dollars gave you a card and said all you have to do is go withdraw the money I promise it’s there

If person knew who he was and believed what he was telling them they would make thier way to the bank to withdraw some money it’s still a gift freely given but if the person didn’t believe him h would they go bother wasting their time acting upon his word ?

That’s how faith works with Gods spoken word if we hear what he said and believe it we will always act upon it for salvation baptism is simple and basic d really there’s no reason to change it jesus said it was right when he was baptized , all his disciples continued to baptize people when he began preaching and after he died and rose they co tinier the same baptism God established when he sent John the Baptist who was filled with the Holy Ghost from the womb and given the ministry of repentance and remission of sins that prepares someone for the gospel

God designed baptism John the Baptist was referring to when Jesus would ascend to heaven and send his spirit like Peter explained had happened at pentocost

“This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:32-33‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That’s all John meant by what he said and why it shows us tongues of fire then receiving he holt ghost they continued baptizing for remission of sins

This will always be true baptism is eerablisked in the scripture by God for remission of sins we should hear about it and consider it a blessing and partake

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

just like the man n acts 8 he hears about Jesus believed and then got baptized because he believed he acted as if he believed what he was hearing …..

Baptism in the name of the Father: The Father grants repentance for sins committed through preaching.
Matt 12: 41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgement with this generation, and shall condemn it; because they
repented at the preaching of Jonah; and, behold, a greater than Jonah is here.
Rom 16: 25 Now to him that is of power to establish you according to my gospel, and the
preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
1 Cor 1: 21 For after that, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God,
it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
Titus: 1: 1-3 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness, In hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the world began, But hath in due times, manifested His word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God, our Savior;
1 Cor 1: 18 For the
preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved, it is the power of God.
Matt 28: 19 Go ye, therefore, and
teach all nations (you teach by preaching), baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, It is through preaching that people get baptized in the name of the Father by repenting, baptized in the name of the Son when they come to Jesus in faith and trust, and baptized in the name of the Holy Spirit when we become the temple of the Father and Son who fill our hearts with divine love for God first and everyone else second. That is how we are born again and are led by the Holy Spirit.

You have a very skewed view and lack of scriptural understanding. There are no scriptures that teach including those you've cited, that through or by preaching alone you become baptized. It's by preaching and hearing the word that leads or compels you to be obedient to the gospel which includes, subsequent belief of what you've heard, repentance, confession of your belief, and baptism into Christ for the remission of sins. John's baptism, the precursor to baptism into Christ, was termed the baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, same as the baptism into Christ in Acts 2:38; and John's baptism wasn't said to be in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.

I suggest doing a word search and you will see only 2 times people were baptized with the HS. Both times were a special situation.

Hi DJT_47. At this point all that we can do is pray for each other as well as ourselves that whoever has it wrong gets it right. It is not we that convince others of the truth. We present our truths from scripture and then it is God who convicts. I just pray that you will at least take time to contemplate and not immediately shut the door. I wish you well, friend.

absolutely wrong.

Baptism was ALWAYS about water baptism. Jesus added the spiritual immersion as to the water immersion. This is evidenced by all the examples given after Jesus' resurrection that show water baptism as essential.
When the people of Jesus time were talking baptism, they knew and understood that it was immersion in water. That's the only definition there WAS of it, except for the act of pickling something.

If a person was told to be baptized, they looked for water.... period.

The spiritual aspect was added to the physical aspect by Jesus' sacrifice.
amen there’s just one baptism which God established it’s not hidden

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Which shall prepare thy way before thee. John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And there went out unto him all the land of Judæa, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:1-2, 4-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“I indeed have baptized you with water:

but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)”
‭‭John‬ ‭7:39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water,

he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

and there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:9-11‬ ‭

He emerges from the water and is born of the spirit

“Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, ( water )

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. ( spirit )

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:37-39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

after jesus died and rose and ascended to the throne

“This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:32-33‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Now when the get baptized there’s a promise that comes with it because Jesus has been glorofoed and sent his spirit like he promised

( spirit ) And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.

Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. ( water ) Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:42-48‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

water

“John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Agrees with the Blood

“for this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26:28‬ ‭

Agrees with the spirit

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭KJV‬‬

a Jesus taught us about having our sins remitted baptism is about remission of sins because Jesus shed his blood for our sins his word agrees baptism is exactly what your saying the water and spirit are two ministrations of the same and complete one another like two witnesses agreeing on a matter

i hear the word of the spirit about the blood shed to cover our sins

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

and I agree and get baptized o to this act of mercy and atonement because I believe what God has said he did

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: ( because we believe that he died on our behalf for our sins baptism is an action of faith hearing and believing and acting )
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:3-4

if we believe Jesus died for our sins we should partake in the doctrine that includes us in that death not because we think it’s a rule nd we’ll die unless we “follow the rules “

abut simply because we believe the testimony of our God and realize what a blessing it is to take upon us the name of Jesus who suffered and died on our behalf so we can live

So are you saying baptism "in the name of" Jesus is NOT water baptism?
You are correct! Baptism in the name of Jesus occurs when a person puts their trust or belief in Jesus' death for the forgiveness of sins. It is He that baptizes with the Holy Spirit ( as John stated ), not us with water. Water baptism was a Jewish tradition that continued with the apostles (who were devout Jews). Remember that they were wrong when they first thought that only Jews would be saved and when they first thought that non-Jews had to be circumcised. They thought that baptism with water while declaring their sins would make them spiritually clean in God's eyes. It is belief in Christ that washes away our sins, not man and water. They persisted in their water baptism and permeated itself into general Christianity. But a true Christian knows that people get baptized through preaching the gospel by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and not by man and water. WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Jews from all around the Jordan came to John's baptism with water to get spiritually clean by repenting of their sins publicly and going through the motions of getting cleansed with water. John was telling the people that there was going to be another way of getting spiritually clean and not by water but by the Holy Spirit.

Scripture in no way supports this. Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ is water baptism as in Acts 2:38 and is clearly, VERY clearly, evidenced by other records of conversions such as the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8. Baptism is always water baptism unless otherwise stated. People like you go to great lengths by twististing the simplicity of scripture in feeble attempts to deny the necessity of water baptism as relates to salvation. Belief alone absolutely does NOT wash away sins and no scripture even comes close to suggest or infer that.
Go study some more.

Acts 22:16

16And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Acts 2:38

38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

John was telling the people that there was going to be another way of getting spiritually clean and not by water but by the Holy Spirit.
Just prior to His ascension Jesus told the apostles to go into ALL the world and baptize individuals. (Matt. 28:19) This command pertained to water baptism. We know this because only God can baptize people with the Holy Ghost. Jesus also informed the apostles that repentance and remission of sin would be preached in His name to ALL nations beginning in Jerusalem. (Luke 24:47) It was in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost that the command to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus for the remission of sin was first introduced. The NT baptism mandate included the need to baptize in Jesus' name as revealed throughout the NT scriptures. (Acts 2:38-41, 8:12-18, 9:17-18, 10:43-48, 19:1-6, 22:16) Each of the noted scriptures reveal two separate experiences; obedience to water baptism in the name of Jesus, and receiving the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking in tongues. This is undeniable proof that both experiences are essential to the NT rebirth experience Jesus explained to Nicodemus. (John 3:3-5)

"Know ye not that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
FOR IF we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, WE SHALL ALSO BE in the likeness of his resurrection:

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin." Rom 6:3-6

Matthew 3:13-17

13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

If is was necessary for Christ to be baptized to fulfill all righteousness, then why wouldn't He (Jesus) require it if His followers.

To paraphrase you, "Don't listen to the apostles people, listen to true Christians." What a blatant lie.

Suggesting that the apostles did "there own thing" is ridiculous. The apostles knew exactly what Jesus expected and obeyed Him. Jesus continued to instruct the apostles after His ascension via the Holy Ghost. In fact the first command given after the Holy Ghost was poured out was, "Repent, and be baptized EVERYONE of you in the name of Jesus Christ for remission of sin AND ye shall receive the Holy Ghost ...They who received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine... (Acts 2:38, 41-42)

Acts 1:1-9
The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

***But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

***See Acts 2:2-41, 8:12-18, 9:17-18, 10:43-48, 19:1-6, 22:16 for their witness to all groups of people, and will continue until Jesus returns.
