“As
the people were in expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Christ,
John answered them all, saying, “I baptize
you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize
you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
Luke 3:15-16 ESV

The people, them, and you are all the same individuals. Does you refer to the people in “I baptize you” and the apostles only in “he will baptize you”? Doesn’t add up.
John answered them all, saying, “I baptize
you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
Now what John said prophetically about Jesus
being fulfilled
“and, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should
not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
….But
ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be
witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
Acts 1:4-5, 8 KJV
a few days later they are baptized with the Holy Ghost and fire just like John told them would happen
“And suddenly
there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And
there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it
sat upon each of them.
And
they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
….But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judæa, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and
hearken to my words: But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I
will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Acts 2:2-4, 14, 16-18, 21 KJV
Peter then preaches about Jesus death and resurrection and his authority then they ask what shall we do ? Peter answers by the Holy Ghost
“Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and
ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
( some believed Peter )
Then they that gladly
received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
Acts 2:38-39, 41 KJV
receiving the Holy Spirit is not the same thing as getting baptized for remission of sins like all of Jesus followers did before and after the cross like this believer
“Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and
preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way,
they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See,
here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
And Philip said,
If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said,
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and
they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”
Acts 8:35-38 KJV
Baptism is written in the Bible plainly and it happens to be performed in water . What makes it matter is Gods promise we need to believe the gospel d get baptized for remission of sins it actually has a lot of effectual meaning according to the Bible
when you believe something is true , you will by human nature act upon it
I e if Elon musk showed up at your door and told you he made you an account for 1 million dollars gave you a card and said all you have to do is go withdraw the money I promise it’s there
If person knew who he was and believed what he was telling them they would make thier way to the bank to withdraw some money it’s still a gift freely given but if the person didn’t believe him h would they go bother wasting their time acting upon his word ?
That’s how faith works with Gods spoken word if we hear what he said and believe it we will always act upon it for salvation baptism is simple and basic d really there’s no reason to change it jesus said it was right when he was baptized , all his disciples continued to baptize people when he began preaching and after he died and rose they co tinier the same baptism God established when he sent John the Baptist who was filled with the Holy Ghost from the womb and given the ministry of repentance and remission of sins that prepares someone for the gospel
God designed baptism John the Baptist was referring to when Jesus would ascend to heaven and send his spirit like Peter explained had happened at pentocost
“This
Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having
received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.”
Acts 2:32-33 KJV
That’s all John meant by what he said and why it shows us tongues of fire then receiving he holt ghost they continued baptizing for remission of sins
This will always be true baptism is eerablisked in the scripture by God for remission of sins we should hear about it and consider it a blessing and partake
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
Mark 16:15-16 KJV
just like the man n acts 8 he hears about Jesus believed and then got baptized
because he believed he acted as if he believed what he was hearing …..
