Have you heard about suramin? I've come across this a few times, but don't know anyone with severe autism - my understanding is it is a spectrum. If you get around to trying it and have some success, please let me know.

"Germanium (Ge) is a silvery-gray metalloid in
Group 14 (IVa) of the periodic table, intermediate in properties between metals and nonmetals.2 Its atomic number is 32, and its mass numbers are 70, 72, 73, and 74. Germanium was first predicted to exist by Dmitri Mendeleyev in 1871 based on gaps in the periodic table, but it was discovered by Clemens Winkler in 1886 in the mineral argyrodite.0 Germanium atoms have 32 electrons and 32 protons with 4 valence electrons in the outer shell. Under standard conditions, Germanium is a hard, shiny, silvery-gray solid that is very brittle."
The name of the product sounds a lot like one of the elements on the periodic table.
PS: A cursory search and it describes it as a medicine long before Bayer patented it and slapped their name on the label.
This has been one of my PCPs since I was a kid. He's seen more success with recovery from brain damage and disorders than anyone I have ever heard of.
