Is there counselling in church though
I dont think there is because of so many church divorces esp amongst those who married young. usually ends by one partner cheating on the other
I know of a friend who married someone in church who already had children with his first marriage though I have no idea why she married someone so much older than her who already had children, though she said she wanted children with him
it ended in separation
I dont know her when she married him though or whether she slept with him first and then they got married when she was pregnant. A lot of couples marry when they find out they having a baby, Ive been to a church wedding where there bride was visibly pregnant. Usually they are young couples and the family want them to marry to make the woman honest.

Then they have this big church wedding, so the minister must think its ok

I think some churches do the counselling thing but dont know about those who are saved after they are married because one spouse may be an unbeliever and not want to go to counselling or church.

seoul mentioned that at a married couples church conference that the bill for cable porn was high when couples stayed there at the hotel

I dont know how she knows this, but that says something.
I don't think it was specifically a married couples conference, but it was pastor's conference -- the entire hotel was booked for the event.

So presumably, many male pastors who were single or traveling without their wives. Some may have had their wives with them, but I don't know how many. And something like at least 95% of the rooms ordered paid per view porn to their room during their stay.

This was in the time before porn was readily available on personal devices.

This story was passed on to me by a friend who's been in lifelong ministry and it was written in a newsletter that discussed issues pastors were facing, such as access to porn when traveling alone.

One of my high school pastors also told us this was a big temptation for him, as he often went to conferences without his wife, since she had to stay home and take care of their kids.

I also know that christian women marry unbelievers. And they do get counselled to marry their unbelieving spouses cos they want children.

thats so weird
did the wives know or consent to this
Or were the wives making porn themselves to send to their husbands while they were away
Wouldnt they have agreed to spend some time apart in PRAYER?

and the husbands PAID for the porn? They may as well have hired prostitutes.

Lol.

No, Lanolin, the wives weren't making the porn. This was long before anyone had devices or technology to film themselves.

It was commercially made movies they paid to have played in their rooms.

So yes, these pastors were basically paying for visual prostitutes on the TV screen.

It's even worse now because it can be found on one's phone for free.

Ive been on church camps but not conferences. usually women share a dorm room and theres no tv
I have been on a conference for library and had my own room but wouldnt have time to watch tv lol

Most hotels have the Gideons Bible beside the bed, you would think a pastors conference would not need to watch tv in their hotel rooms?!

i think they dont get kicked out because these people are like the pastors family
I also know that in some liberal churches they bless the same sex unions because they are family members instead of disciplining them
adulterers generally leave church but they may go to another one
if they remarry in a church then that church must have turned a blind eye to it or forgiven it. I think the most famous example is when King Charles who married Camilla. Hed comitted adultery with her while he was married to Diana...everyone knows this now. Though he wouldnt have gone so far as to marry her when his first wife was still alive, and she was also married. Though HER first husband is still alive.

Well I would agree there. He was in love with another woman. They said his great Uncle wasn't a real man because he gave up the throne for the woman he loved. But I think it's the other way round. Now I know Wallis was married before, but at least he stayed true to her the rest of his life. Charles ruined Diana's young life and his childrens. I no use for him at all. He should not have been allowed to become king. The Queen's sister had to give up the man she loved. As far as the church goes, I would be surprised if Charles understood what being born again means, and is Christian in name only.

I was once like you. Trying to make sense out of what lanolin says, trying to get her to explain what she says, arguing with her about "facts" she made up...

I learned. One day you too will learn.

Just tryin' to stop a derail but I don't think there is much hope of that.

She often goes off on tangents like this. You get used to it after a while. It's best to just let her play it out and not interrupt, and it will be over soon.
I sometimes envision an AI which was programmed for library duties, but had several of the settings on the personality chip accidentally maxxed out, and subsequently goes out-of-control on occasion.

Lol.

Just to clarify, this is the bit I thought was funny! Lol. Some sort of secret church cult. Not the behaviour of the pastors.

there were always rumours going round that Wallis wasnt a real woman, and she didnt have children. Her first husbands were cheaters and alcoholics.

Charles followed his great uncles example and did whine to his mother why couldnt he have a mistress like Edward did. He thought it was ok.

Now Charles is meant to be defender of the Faith in the Anglican church, (church of England) now he is King, so thats a terrible example for the British. If anyone is following. Anglicans never put much stock into being born again though the charismatic movement did actually enter all mainstream churches, even catholics.

Apparently Queen Elizabeth was converted by Billy Graham, I am not sure what year exactly she got saved, but the problem with Billy Graham was he didnt always follow through after getting people to 'make a decision' for Christ. All of the Queens children had problems with their marriages except for Prince Edward, so he may have been spared and born after she converted.

He would have been very last in line to the throne though as it will always go to the eldest male. Prince Andrew fell into disgrace. However the British public seem to be forgiving, and the royals all have their own PR.

Its common knowledge.

This is relevant if we are to have examples of 'sexual purity' in church seeing as at the time, it was emphasised that Princess Diana had to be a virgin when she married Prince Charles.. She also had to be a protestant although she wasnt exactly, she was actually into new age. If the British royals ever married a Catholic, they would have had their heads chopped off.

But this is the Church of England, if anyone is following. Americans probably dont care.

There is no rule saying that a king has to be married to be King or that his wife has any regal power. The first Queen Elizabeth famously stayed a virgin because any marriage would have had political consequences.

If reading the Bible and going through the Kings books you'll note that almost all of them had problems and some of the worst sexual behaviour of them all. Their children paid dearly for their fathers sins

In Jesus lineage there were several prostitutes..Rahab, Tamar etc
BUT you will note that Mary was a virgin and conceived with the Holy Spirit so no sin would ever enter into Jesus.

Jesus famously forgave Mary Magdalene and told her to sin no more. What he didnt do was tell the adulterous men to stop sinning, but stop throwing stones at her

As far as the opening question is concerned, if I am to be honest, then I personally believe that many churches have failed terribly in regard to teaching any type of purity at all.

1 John 3:1-3

"Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. "

We were invited to minister at a church back in the day. It was in Maine. I know the joke is always about FL. but Maine has some weird places, as beautiful a state as it is. Anyway this "evangelist" was there with his daughter, she was a big lass, 350 if she was a pound. And Papa ran about the same. So they were well fed, lets put it that way.

Anyhow, he was a man that liked the sound of his own voice. It was a revival week and he would " preach" a good three hours every night whether we needed it or not. Something just wasn't right about them. Anyhow someone who knew this evangelist said that he would often get women of the church together in a room to pray and turn the lights out. And this guy was shifty lookin', I wouldn't be caught alone with him in a lit room! Also he would take women to a graveyard to pray. What they were prayin' for is beyond me. Some weird folk in that place. Any pastor meeting with women alone, yeah, I have questions.

Wot

Um yea until youve been prospostioned in church I dont think anyone has been teaching any such thing about sexual purity there. Might as well have a sign saying 'virgins for sale here'

Catholic church esp priests have shoved this under the rug for decades until it came to light they were abusing/molesting children under their care. Horrible horrbile horrible.

They cant talk about sexual purity without being complete hypocrites.
