That didn't answer the question.

No. There we will hear...well done my good and faithful servant...and enter into the master's joy.

You have pulled a single line out of a parabolic teaching you have to read those as a whole and think about what he's saying it's like an allegory sort of hea communicating a message to his believing disciples

The lesson usually becomes clear at the end conclusion

Notice how the line you quoted has a rhyme , a contrasting point the next line

And that servant, which knew his Lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes

. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes.

For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
Luke 12:47‭-‬48 KJV

Jesus is explianing the better you understand Gods will the more accountability you have to live upright by that will

If you don't understand much you don't have the same accountability to do what you don't truly grasp

But I said it's part of a greater message the whole payable that leads to it

Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; and ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their Lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately. Blessed are those servants, whom the Lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them

. And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all? And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his Lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. But and if that servant say in his heart, My Lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; the Lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
Luke 12:32‭-‬46 KJV

We need to remain faithful to Jesus not just say weresaved and forget about his word

Then v 47-48

Thanks for your question JohnB. Concerning the verse: "And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.", - and you asked "does this mean we'll be beaten in heaven?"

To my mind, the verse is about those who do not go to heaven, so to speak, so to my mind this is not talking about being beaten in heaven. If you read the surrounding text, there is a division between those who received Jesus and those who do not. Jesus came to bring division. That's what the gospel does, it brings division. Some hear it and rejoice and prepare in the Lord, and others hear it but do not obey it. Something like that. This part of scripture reminds me of the parable of the 5 wise virgins and the 5 foolish virgins. It also reminds me of the sheep and the goats parable. Not sure if this is a good answer or not but I appreciate the fact that you ask questions. Please post a few more questions any time you want to.

I'm concerned he calls them his servants. Just wondering about that.

Thanks JohnB. Yes, remember that the parable of the virgins was about those who were espoused to Jesus, called 'virgins'. Yet only 5 of the 10 made it to have Jesus as husband ultimately, and to be in heaven. Similarly, in the verse you are considering a surrounding text says: "The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers." Notice that he was a believer but was sent to be with the unbelievers. So, he does not appear to have made it to heaven, despite knowing about the Lord. Consider the language of Matthew 24: "Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left." This terminology of 'the field' is the world that the gospel is taken to by believers, and we also read, "Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left." This terminology of the mill is of persons grinding grain, and grain in the Bible is a picture of those who getting the gospel delivered to them (don't muzzle the ox). We see how the household of believers is split in two and broken up, so that some go to be with the Lord and some do not, in this verse: "But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up." So that is how it happens. A thief comes. The thief is Satan and those who are not watching in the household of believers, but are beating their servants and so forth, go to be with the unbelievers. So, we could say that the household of believers is broken up. So, you are right to be concerned that he calls them servants in Luke 12:47. They would be believers but ones who were deceived as the thief Satan stopped them from watching and praying, so to speak.

Just do His will when you know it and you won't have to worry about it.

I dont know exactly what Jesus was meaning when He said that. If its some sort of correction in Heaven I dont think so. I think it is chastizement here on earth for our correction. But dont you know that we deserve a beating for our disobedience? Even in chastizement from the Lord it is great mercy, we deserve death and hell.

Paul speaks of our works tried in a fire and suffering great loss amd even though we are saved, and even also great reward for what is refined in the fire rather than burned up.

Yes and the lord says a believer can reçieve a thorn in his side which would be quite a blowing experience I would imagine

Which Bible verse is that?
a thorn in the flesh is something given to us by God to keep us from becoming conceited,

For such an individual it can feel like punishent or torture.

But God doesn't torture his children he disciplines them.

And seeing as Paul was a born again Christian who reçieved a thorn in his flesh then this is where I'm basing my knowledge upon.

But the chances are since I have wrote this you will probably disagree with me and start resorting to debating with me then say I am at fault.

Would you like a source of information or would that be a crime.

Since my 700 posts to this forum i have only included probably 3 sources of information from an out side source, I would call that using my own mind and my long history of study.

But seeing as it's a crime to discuss out side sources with you I'll not bother.

This all started in another thread because you did not include your source, so saying it is a crime
to discuss outside sources with me is very dishonest of you when I was the first to ask you for
your source. Your whole post is more misrepresentations from you. That is what you should not
bother with. Try being honest for a change. Or is that asking for too much? Is there a Scripture
verse that says the Lord says a believer can receive a thorn in his side? No, but you claim there
is just because Paul had one. Don't blame me because you dislike being held accountable.
