Acts 10:43~ All the prophets testify about Him that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name.
Yes...and of course you must believe in Jesus as He really is...
(2 Corinthians 11:3-4).
...that He is the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost (Colossians 2:9 (kjv)).
John 3:16 tells us that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish...iffy.
Mark 16:16 tells us that whoever believes and is baptized shall be saved...a more absolute promise.
Also, in the parable of the sower, the 2nd type of soil, "believes for a while and then falls away"
Do they have forgiveness of sins while they are believing?
If so, then they are saved but not of the elect...
My point being that baptism will seal the deal for you;
whereas mere faith in Jesus might bring forgiveness only for a season.
Read the whole passage. The circumcision is without hands. That's the same as the operation of God. The baptism is also without hands. It is spiritual as well.
That is an interesting point...but the passage still says "buried with him in baptism" referring to the waters of baptism.

I disagree with you, there.
Clearly, when a person is baptized, they are buried underneath the water and come up out of the water, risen with Christ.
So the heart is circumcised by God alone but baptism is a joint effort between God and man?
The Greek word “antitupon,” as used in I Peter 3: 21, is “an adjective, used as a noun,” and denotes, in the NT, “a corresponding type,” being “said of baptism.” “The circumstances of the flood, the ark and its occupants, formed a type, and baptism forms “a corresponding type,” each setting forth the spiritual realities of the death, burial, and resurrection of believers in their identification with Christ. It is not a case of type and antitype, but of two types, that in Genesis, the type, and baptism, the corresponding type.”
Noah was saved by the ark “through (via) water.” Water was not the means of their salvation, but the ark. (Hebrews 11:7) The ark is what both delivered and preserved them, the two aspects of “salvation.” Their “salvation” was typical of the salvation promised to the Christian. It pictured it. So also does Christian baptism picture the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. By saying, "not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience - through the resurrection of Jesus Christ," Peter guards against saving power to the physical ceremony itself.
We see elsewhere that believing is absolutely necessary for salvation (John 3:15,16,18; Acts 10:43; 13:39; 16:31 etc..) so obviously, believing is implied or assumed in Acts 2:21 and in Romans 10:13. Calling on the name of the Lord to be saved = relying on the name of the Lord, trusting in Him for salvation. When one calls on Jesus to save them, they are trusting in Him to come to their aid. Inherent in their calling on the name of the Lord is the essential belief in Jesus Christ that He can and will save them.
John 3:18 - He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
