Agree, but my question is this; is it no longer a sin once a state legalizes it (assuming it was a sin while being illegal)? Bitter almond trees are illegal too, but some say that stuff helps to inhibit tumor growth.
For me, I just try to be led by the Holy Spirit of God and His revealed will for my life found in my bible. That alone is plenty enough to keep me occupied, but I was just curious what others thought about a connection between marijuana and sin, because I can't find anything on that, aside from abide by the governing laws, and don't be a piece of crap.
Hi John,
Welcome to the forum.
I like your family photo.
Just a quick note on the issue. First, it doesn't matter to me what someone smokes. It won't affect my day as long as they aren't driving, family, friends, or breaking in to rob me to support their addiction. Someone tried that and it didn't turn out so well for them.
You have a good question.
I do think that God has created the
hemp plant for so many uses that I can't begin to list but a small fraction of purposes. I did a consultation with someone yesterday who described her choice to use a no THC CBD oil (no high effects). It was helping with diabetic issues and also her pet. People have used the raw hemp oil that's in the salad dressing isle at Krogers and it helped heal their brain injury significantly. It's a shame that the US gt made it a crime to grow a native plant that is used for very high quality clothing, for ropes and textiles of all kinds. When competing manufacturing industry like petroleum, pharmaceutical and cotton pay a few million dollars to the politicians to deny competition: THAT is a crime. It's a big crime to deny God's people the use of something He made to bless them and bring healing. That is why the clothes and ropes I've used is so expensive and must be imported from other countries. It has been legal to import Non-THC products made from the hemp plant, such as clothing and food. However, most can't afford to pay the outrages prices for something that should be dirt cheap and plentiful.
As to the use of the extremely small variety of hemp that has THC due to genetic variation and selection for that single trait, it also serves a purpose or two. I think a legitimate purpose would be the example of a medicinal use. It has been reported by those who have had dangerous seizures that chemically manufactured pharmaceuticals have not helped. They are legal, but hardly effective.. Big pharma has a monopoly and impose harmful effects to those who are desperately in need of relief. The natural God made medicines are demonized, while the often demonically designed ones produced by industrial methods are touted as godly. Because some guy with latex tubing draped over his neck, who attended a big pharma subsidized school walks into the room, you are supposed to trust him more than The Great Physician. That's what most do. Some have had healing and stopped the daily seizures by that particular variety of plant that would be free of charge if they were allowed to grow it themselves.
Most of us are fortunate to not have such health problems. I certainly will never judge those who do. I thank God that He made natural medicine, foods and spices that prevent blindness, seizures, and restores that which modern medicine can not.
As to recreational use, otherwise " getting stoned."....it really is no different than getting drunk. Whether by mushrooms, alcohol, poppy flowers, marijuana, or licking poisonous frogs, it's considered drunkenness. If I tell a dumb kid who eats Tide pods that it's a sin and will damage the Temple of the Holy Spirit, am I wrong because the Bible doesn't say "Don't eat Tide Pods?".
If a stoner licks a Bufo Marinus Toad and hallucinates like an idiot, is it OK because the Bible doesn't address that specifically?
I think you agree, it actually does address it.
A. It is called drunkenness, which is a sin of the flesh.
Galatians 5:19,20
"
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders,
drunkenness, ..."
The term"drunkenness" can apply to drug induced euphoria regardless of which drug, from alcohol to fentinol as I see it. I think the application is not just restricted to the product of fermentation/ distillation. If this is not convincing, I understand that I am making somewhat of a presumption on this point. Let's take a look together at the next reason why I came to this understanding.
B. It is associated with witchcraft or sorcery.
The term pharmakos which looks familiar because it's where we get our word for pharmaceutical.
Drugs are often used for religious ceremonies to summon devils/ demons. It's not necessarily one or the other. Even Joe Rogan has described the demons that he encountered and spoke to him while stoned.
From users descriptions some drugs apparently have more of an effect to bring about the state of mind and break down the barrier that is there to protect people from demonic communication and possession.
Revelation 21:8
"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and
sorcerers, and idolaters, and
all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."
According to the Bible anyone who has committed one murder, or ever lied, or committed sorcery deserves to go where?
That's right if you said hell or "the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone."
That is why we ALL need to be saved from such a horrible destination. I doubt if there are very many sorcerers here, but we probably all have lied and even worse.

C. Marijuana seems to be the gateway drug most frequently used that eventually leads to the harder ones. Just ask anyone who has ever used a harder drug. They all started with marijuana.
D. Some make a distinction between getting stoned/ drunk with natural drugs as opposed to Rx pharmaceuticals. This is the major consensus of the past generations up until now. The only truth about the con-sensus is that they have been conned and have no sense's. In West Virginia, as many states, prescription medications are the biggest illicit drug trade. They are used for recreational drunkenness more than the illegal kinds. That doesn't excuse the fact that some people go to the emergency room with major pain like sciatica or a broken bone and are denied pain relievers. That happens too often. If someone is in severe pain, help that person. Just don't give the highly addictive garbage that they all too often push in order to get repeat customers.
Shame on those doctors.
More often there are complaints for which inappropriate meds are the choices. When I was a teenager I remember that the biggest abusers of drugs per Capita are the doctors and pharmacists. They also are the biggest pushers. Case in point are the Covid injections, flu shots, dozens of childhood "vaccines."
Because people think that Doctor Fatbottom wrote it on a slip of paper and the brew meister at the grocery store filled it as instructed, that it's healthy and nutritious. Most people have no idea how addictive some of those drugs are. They get hooked and many overdose, as a poor lady told me recently about her straight laced 40 year old daughter. God created certain medicines to help relieve pain and to even bring about healing. Those are often used for illegitimate purposes. Nevertheless, they're creation had a legitimate use that might have been intended by the Maker. I think that the Bible speaks very clearly about the subject.
If there's still doubts by the readers, whoever they may be, I suggest re-reading this. Just make sure to check out the video link, because it provides the only solution to the problem.
May the Lord keep you happy and healthy.
