Well I've been saying this for years but logical fallacies and cognitive biases should be part of school curriculum
If they would just promote critical thinking and logic.

Maybe it's the small community I lived in but from local neighbor's to those in authority roles and teachers, we were taught to obey our elders.

And if any of them disciplined us it was doubled at home.

Being a 5th generation pk, I was a bit rebellious.

Let's just say between grades 4 thru 9 I tried my best to brake the oak paddle on a daily basis.

I just enjoyed them threatening me with it so I gave them plenty of reasons to use it on me.

I was the kid who would put tacks on the teachers chair to see em sit down and jump up like a jack in the box and then cry from laughing so hard including crying from laughing as they swatted me with the oak paddle.

Those were some good memories.

But that is how it was in my day. I cherish those memories and wish I could go back.

So suspending the students just gives them a holiday from learning.
It is FAR TOO LATE to fix anything in the public school systems. What is now required is a TOTAL BOYCOTT of all public schools. Will it happen? Not likely. Too many parents simply cannot see what has happened to the schools. The media have colluded with the corrupters of the schools.

Public schools and prison, both are a horrific waste of public funds.

Glad that you got that out of your system back then. Lol.
I am just saying the paddle issue works two ways. For the majority it scares 4th graders to death. For the rest, it will slow them down a bit but it still is a necessary evil.

Then do it!

When I went to school men were still men and women were women and they knew their roles and stayed inside their lanes.

As horrible as I was back then, I would have torn these prissy sissies up like used toilet paper.

I took on my science class who was just introducing evolution and had my grandfather in there denouncing Satan. Old classmates to this very day still talk about that.

I would have had fun with these limp wristed liberals that are teachers today.

Im pretty sure if you had kids or had a class full of them, you would change your mind on that. Undisciplined children become undisciplined young adults who are a menace to society. Physical discipline is a part of a childs training.

Public school systems can work. I got an excellent head start with a stay at home working mom who taught us to read and write before we entered elementary school. I had mature teachers who taught me the skills (reading, writing, math, science, history, government, and economics) that I needed to succeed in the work place, and college. There was two way respect in the classrooms, and back sides were warmed (at school and when we got home) when we got out of line. My parent's goals was simple. You were going to finish high school, you were going to work when you got home, and you were going to excel at both.

When the school day was over and the chores were done (we were share croppers), we had time to play, hunt or fish.

Instead of enough toys to fill a huge toy box and a closet, we had the outside world to make our own toys.

Everyone finished high school near the top of the class, five out of six finished college, and three finished grad school. All have had very successful careers. We credit our success to parental determination and an excellent public school education.

Instead of griping and moaning about how bad your public school system is, get off your back side and fix it. You might want to start at home.

When I was in high school we had in school suspension. You are still allowed to attend school but you had to be in a whole separate building away for everyone else like solitary confinement.
They would bring you your assignments and your lunch from the cafeteria

i DO have classes full of children whove been neglected because their parents are working so hard to keep a roof over their head.

its not the childs fault they acting out its often what the parents have failed to do, provide a loving environment for them to thrive. Discipline in schools is more of a value that needs teaching and children need to be trained in the ought to go, not beaten into it. This requires firrmness and safe and secure boundaries and also nurturing from when they are young.

Physical in terms of...understanding pain and suffering, and what soothing touch is. Children need teaching and engagement not necessarily the school of hard knocks. also if sports are taught in a healthy manner there is no need for violence which is often just a knee jerk reaction on a parents part and only serves to punish a child for a parents failure to look after them.

some solutions might be to visit the parents and family before school starts to see and understand where they are at. It takes time to culitivate relationships but it will lay dividends in the future. schools that take time to do this care about their children

sorry just had to put in my two cents, ppl have differnt views but I see it from the childrens POV I dont see them as a nuisance

The ones that end up in jail are often the ones that nobody was looking out for
They also might have fallen through the cracks and never been taught to read or had any one on one time with an adult who had their best interests at heart. if that makes me bleeding heart liberal well whatever lol

and yes I growl unruly childrn and say no a lot. Yes its tiring but thing is you have to be consistent and ultimately there for them when they need you. They are dependent on you. They look up to you. They can try but children are not really good at looking after themselves however many parents just think its ok to let children run wild and not care about them because of their own oarents examples (or lack of parentsH

Jesus said let the children come to me and forbid them not...suffer the little children..theres is the kingdom of God

He made time for them. He didnt turn them away, even when the disciples were like we can get rid of them if they are bothering you.

annoying children are that way because they are desperately hungry for love and affection. If they have to act badly to get it they will. If wrong doers could see that Jesus died for them on the cross for their sins when he himself was sinless, they might understand what grace is.

Jesus was lashed 39 times ..if they had done anymore he would have died then and there. This is why all of us have to go to Jesus. so I wouldnt 'bring back the strap' I would just bring back Jesus.

Depends to a degree on environment. Most of the world is now urban. One size fits all is unlikely.
