Corporal punishment in schools. Is it time to bring back the strap?

Teachers cannot diagnose ADHD in the USA, they are not clinicians.

It is a medical condition that is formally defined in the DSM V.
Medical doctors, psychologist and psychiatrists, trained psychometrists and trained nurse practitioners can make the diagnosis.

Ok to the letter of the law they can not but they do. They push it on parents giving the parents the lines of this will help your child. Have the bored child get in trouble a few times then the lazy teacher pushes the parents again etc... less trouble for the teacher.

here in the USA they do along with gender crap. My opinion once they understood that they could over take the parents they have moved on to the gender lies. My sister is retired she would never have done that but the union of teachers do.

I never saw how they served any purpose except to stress me out

Teachers bullied you they still are bullies. They bullied me on spelling ,grammar, etc. It helped a little. Still today I do not hear the subtle differences between i and e.

As for corporal punishment today . No way would some blue haired nut case put their hands on my great grand kids . Those kids are home schooled.

Also, if you can solve one multiplication problem, you can solve a billion of them because the formula is the same every time so what's the point of all the repetition

The drain on teachers is enormous. They have to be counselors, referees, behavioural therapists, deal with outraged parents and know the law better than the police. The cane is quick and effective. I know that from experience. Sure, after a certain age, it is not the answer. However, it sure works better than any other method. Why do you think God commanded physical discipline. "Spare the rod and damn the child".

It is exhausting being in the classroom and a good portion of it is classroom management. Over here in NZ it is not uncommon to have classes of 25 plus children and in that mix there are children who have diagnosed special needs and those who have behavioural issues. But I love my job and my relationships with children comes first or the teaching and learning part goes wayward.

Parents who properly discipline their children at home do not need to worry about discipline at school. Most parents I know physically discipline their kids to keep them in check and it works, they just do it on the down low so their children are not taken by child services. The children you see that are misbehaving at schools - many factors for that of course but mostly because parents have been told they are not allowed to smack to correct and so the children know adults cannot lay a hand on them. Children know they can get away with bad behaviour at a young age and that is not good for society.

So suspending the students just gives them a holiday from learning. Who is disciplining our young people if the state threatens uplift if the parents smack their children for misbehaving?
End of year and still students are being suspended for fighting and other undesirable behaviour.
Most schools model a framework of positive behaviour but it doesnt work on some students. A mostly female school staff isnt helping either. Boys dont respect their authority. It’s pretty disheartening to see how angry these young boys can get. I think schools are too soft on bad behaviour and most principals dont set the best standard for their schools. Some people think it’s abuse but you can ask the children nicely in a positive tone to correct the behaviour maybe several times or you can get the strap out and this speeds up the correction.

Any scratch, scrape, bruise or abrasion is felony child abuse in many states, there is no lesser charge. Let that sink in.

Your 10 year old boy getting a little big for his britches, starts yelling at mom when dads not around?

Mom has enough, grabs him by the arm and leads him to his room.

“Concerned neighbor” in the apartment next door dials 911, they find a hand print or scratch on the boys arm? Mom’s going to jail, 1 count felony child abuse.

The way the law is written if she goes to trail she will be found guilty and likely do 2 years in federal prison.

Happens everyday.

This world (which belongs to satan) doesn’t want disciplined children. Children who think before they act, who contemplate their actions.

All Christians should be making arrangements for their sons and daughters to be separate.

I did not, but my kids and grandkids go with out things so they can homeschool. Both parents working out side the home has its expenses . Work clothing for both, Daycare. take home meals because they are tired. Auto expenses gas tires insurance normal up keep.
some folks will have help in the home yard care or housework. The system has our kids for 6-7 hours we spend time with the home work and telling them to listen to the teacher.

This may be true but maybe not. I was single with 7 kids homeschooling 4 while working 50+ hours a week. I didn't know how I was going to manage, but God worked it all out.
I agree that as things are presently in many homes, homeschooling seems impossible. But I have seen God do so many incredible things that I know what is possible.
Often, when we view our problems, we view solutions in terms of our present reality and change seems impossible. But if we would view them from God's perspective, we would find ourselves more inclined to believe He will bring things to pass.
I know that you know all this. Just a friendly reminder.

Proverbs 13: 24 "Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him."

As Christians, we have a responsibility to instruct children in the ways of the Lord. Discipline is a necessary tool to ensure children remain on the narrow path that leads to life. In the first instance, discipline should take the form of structure and religious instruction. If a child does not adhere then there is certainly a biblical precedent for stronger action.

The verse could refer to the shepherd's rod, not something like a cane. The shepherd doesn't beat his sheep, but guides and protects his sheep.

Or not. Proverbs 23:13. The rod is not for "guiding". Most versions of the Bible use "strike" or "beat". Children are not sheep. They are rebellious sinners. The modern way is to avoid any consequences for bad behaviour. If the world was a better place as a result, I would agree. It's not. My daughter has raised her kids according to the world's way. She has four obnoxious brats. It does not have to be like that.

My brother is a teacher here and he is having a tough time. You have to now go along with a student if they have changed their name or sex even though they can change their minds each week. One week they can be called Steve and be wearing male clothes and must be treated as Steve, the next week as Eve if they want to be known as Eve and are wearing female clothes. Aus has heavily embraced the whole binary unisex thing.

Why anyone stays in the teaching profession is beyond me. I seriously considered teaching as a career when I was in my 20's. I am so glad I changed my mind.

so she has kids, not lambs...got it. Most parents talk about their KIDS ie. brats.

They dont have lambs because they are not christians. Simple.
