I feel sure you would not knowingly mislead anyone bro. But if you say knowledge and gifts will pass away you have to show when the scripture says this passing away happens. When that which is perfect has come.
Gotchya. You may certainly disagree with me, but I highly doubt that God has any use for prophets when His Word is already well established. Personally, I find the Bible to be whole and complete . . . it lacks nothing. In addition, I see no reason for the Lord to extend "special Knowledge," as Paul unpacked the Mysterious Plan of God in Ephesians and Colossians. Further, speaking is Tongues is silly. Of all the times I've heard "Christians" speak in tongues like a babbling goofball, I've never heard nor seen anyone available to translate.

It's all pretty ridiculous. Instead of people seeking the gift of Tongues, I think it to be much more beneficial to figure out what the actual Gospel is and start spreading the News instead of muttering gibberish that won't do anyone any good. But uh . . . in my 55 years of living, I've had one, MAYBE two humans actually attempt to share the Gospel with me, and they failed miserably. MISERABLY. That speaks volumes about the Truth regarding the matter. The "church" is a complete embarrassment (at least to me).

I don't know that "Tongues" in and of themselves has had much of an impact on my life. It's kind of intellectually ridiculous to babble in a tongue that's meaningless to you - BUT - The Bible says that when I speak in tongues I'm "Edifying myself", so I take it on faith that the Bible doesn't LIE.
I apologize deeply, but I don't understand how something can be self-edifying, yet not be of any benefit. That's kind of odd, to be honest. Or, maybe I don't understand the meaning of the words you are using. I hope it is the latter.

God? 1 Cor 14:5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

Paul? 1 Cor 14:18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
Yeah, so I was talking about people of today.
But don't throw away everything else.
My goodness, the liberty of you "christians." It's no wonder that we're hated. Why in the world would you ever suggest to this group, and the guests who come here, that I say "throw away everything else."

This place . . . is unbelievable.

Your using human carnal reasoning instead of allowing the Word and the Holy Spirit to have the preeminence in your mind.

The moment anyone takes this pass they depart from believing what God has said on the given subject at hand.

It is good to question things/preachings/teachings.
It is better to take these questions to the study of the Scriptures for verification

Our worship of God means we believe everything HE speaks to us.
“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” Matt 4:4

Beware of the respect of persons creeping into your heart.
Am I now seeking the approval of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ." Galatians 1:10

Peace my Brother

Dear Beloved Brother in the Circumcision of the Holy Spirit,

Do not tread against the Scriptures, most especially on this subject but rather give yourself to prayer, study and more prayer.

The most glaring Truth in 1 Corinthians (on the subject of spiritual gifts) is out in the OPEN, staring at everyone in the face and most pass by completely blind to it.

May you be blessed in your heart and spirit to find this Truth in the Holy Scriptures and have another layer of covering circumcised from your heart.

PEACE to you Beloved Dear Brother in Christ, who has brought great Joy to my spirit as well as to others.

"But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."
2 Timothy 3:13-17
I know that you wrote this with good intentions. Thank you.

Another layer of covering circumcised from my heart? Nah . . . if Christ has Truly Circumcised my formerly unregenerated heart, then I am "complete." Do you feel that you are complete?

Colossians 2:10-11 KJV - "And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ . . ."

And a likewise warning to you: Be careful not to strip Jesus Christ of His completing Power through Purification.

You may not feel this way, but I feel that I have been given all that I need first through the lifting of the Curse, and then through the intended Plan that the Lord has for each moment of my life. If the Lord feels that I need some special gift, then so be it. Those decisions are not up to me nor are they up to anyone else, for the Lord grants His Grace and Holy Mercy to anyone He might choose. Obviously, when considering Saul, the Christian killer, he was not chosen by God for his good works.

Good chooses who will Love Him. God chooses who receives His Holy Gifts.

YES, we are complete in HIM - Amen, Amen

Do we still sin? Yes = then Why, if we are complete in HIM?

Lifting of the Curse = Christ became a curse for us on the Cross as HE took upon Himself all the sins of the world - Amen

Curses remain = Your physical body is still cursed to death by God.

God has chosen to love you but HE will never force all the blessings upon you as they require Faith in His Word to receive them.

We have HIS Word but not any of us posses all of the understanding of that which it contains = it is only complete in Christ and the Holy Spirit.
This is why our LORD said:
And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

THEREFORE

Our only protection against the wiles of the devil, of which you and i are still vulnerable to be deceived by him, is the Word of God.

This is why we are commanded = Deut 4:1-2 , Proverbs 30:5-6 , Revelation 22:18-19

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Thank You for responding.

Your conclusion must be verified by the Holy Scriptures so that it is not based on human reasoning.

Please verify your conclusion from the Holy Scriptures.

Thank You and patiently waiting for your response.

Please inform as to whether you believe the Holy Scriptures to be given by man's understand/reason/tradition or by the Spirit of God.
Luke3:16

16John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

Luke 24:49

49And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Acts 1:4-5, 8

4And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. 5For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

8But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth

Acts 2:1-4

1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance

Acts 2:16-18

16But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

Acts 5:12

12And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

Acts 5:15-16

15Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. 16There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

Acts 6:5-6

5And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: 6Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

Acts 6:8

8And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

Acts 8:14-18

14Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. 18And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

Acts 9:40

40But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

Acts 10:44-48

44While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Acts 13:1-3

1Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 2As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. 3And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

Acts 15:12

12Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

Acts 19:6

6And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied

The above clearly shows that it was the APOSTLES who were promised the gifts as well as only them performing such gifts miraculously.l, and them laying on of their hands so others could receive gifts such as speaking in tongues. This should hopefully satisfy your question. Read carefully.

My goodness, I never thought that we'd enter into such a discussion.

So, you don't believe that the Devil has been defeated, and when so, that Christ saw a "lightning bolt" fall from the sky?

You don't believe in the Victory of Christ?

Colossians 2:10-13, 15 NLT - "So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. 11 When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature. 12 For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. 13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. ... 15 In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross."

Luke 10:17-18 NLT - "When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, "Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!" 18 "Yes," he told them, "I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning!"

Are you certain that you are not the one who needs to rethink and pray about these things?

No one is exempt
So you are saying that your perspective of me is God's perspective of me. Am I reading you rightly?

ALL the Scriptures you posted are YEAH and AMEN

However you came to a slightly erroneous conclusion.

The PROMISE of the FATHER is to ALL whom HE calls and of Faith in those whom HE calls.

A - Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins;
B - and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
c - for the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

We have been commanded by the LORD to follow this instruction: Deut 4:1-2, Proverbs 30:56 , Revelation 22:18-19

Do you receive instruction from men or from God as what to believe?

Maybe you missed it = Post 90 applies to all of us

Currently you have entered into a defensive posture with accusing by rearranging words spoken to you.
Evidence You said: "So, you don't believe that the Devil has been defeated,"

How about returning to the study of Scripture so that God has the Preeminence over our hearts and minds.

Are you ok? To me, it sounds like you were offended before you first responded to what I wrote. I believe that it is you that is in the defensive position. I can tell . . . something is wrong.

Friends, a gift from the Father should not be referred to as "muttering gibberish", He gives us the ability to say to Him what we really need to say, there is no better, faster, way to walk in Holy Spirit that I know of.
