I've never heard of Ron Carpenter but if he has programs on TBN and Daystar he's a sellout. Between these two networks every imaginable heresy is represented. Anyone who helps them stay in business is a partaker in their heresy.
he broke away from many and went on his own. when you mean sellout, is it because he is on television or because of those specific stations?

I don't think Ron Carpenter "left" the SC Megachurch (Redemption East). It appears he left for awhile to start a west coast campus (Redemption West). He got embroiled in a lawsuit with John Gray, the guy who was supposed to lease the SC campus and run it, and ended up coming back. See https://julieroys.com/john-grays-me...dispute-with-redemption-over-property-rights/.

Now they have two campuses with Carpenter and his wife pastoring both from Redemption East. They must do a video thing like Life.Church, with Carpenter's messages being beamed to the west coast; however, I haven't looked closely enough at this to know for sure. I just know their website shows the Carpenters as the pastors of Redemption East but doesn't list any pastors for Redemption West that I could find. See https://www.myredemption.cc/.

They seem to me like typical big money prosperity preachers. Just because someone talks like a hillbilly or puts down west coast politicians doesn't mean they are hillbillies or that they know the gospel from a hole in the ground.

nowhere does the Bible ever claim Tongues is Miraculous. what Baloney Doctrine created that Myth?
Most certainly does by simple logic and inference. You think the ability to speak in an unknown tongue is not miraculous in nature? Think again. Read Luke 24:49 Jesus instructions to his apostles. Then read closely Acts 1 and 2. The gifts including tongues were promised to and bestowed upon the APOSTLES and whomever they laid their hands on. All the gifts noted in 1 Cor 12:8-10 fall into this category and are the result of the laying on of the apostle's hands. Note the accounts in Acts 5:12, Acts 8:18, with Stephen Acts 6:6-8, Acts 19:6. You think speaking in an unknown tongue isn't miraculous? Think again.

i think it is part of God's Plan. but if God is literally living inside of you and chooses to Speak, that's not miraculous but God following His Plan.

The Father dwelled within Jesus doing the talking and miracles [John 14:10]. Part of the Plan. God speaking through us while living inside us is no different.

The bible clearly states that not all Christians get the same gift. The bible clearly states that xenoglossia was one of those gifts. Why entire denominations today get the same version of the tongues gift and not xenoglossia.

Are there actual people who desire the gift of tongues, a language that they can't even understand and makes them look like freaks to the world? Who would want that? I have never desired tongues . . . it hasn't even crossed my mind.

Understanding the actual Gospel of Jesus Christ is infinitely more important than uttering sounds ya can't even understand.

When the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles, they spoke in tongues and all the people, no matter what their language, understood them. I believe this is the Heavenly Tongues.
Many since speak in tongues not understood by the congregations unless God has appointed another with the congregation to interpret.

I believe when an individual hears God speaking it is in the unknown tongue of angels and the individual(s) intended to understand, understand indeed.

This latter has been my experience also.

Paul words:
"For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries." 1 Cor 14:2
Alright, so later in the chapter we see this:

(1Co 14:9) So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.
(1Co 14:10) There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
(1Co 14:11) Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.

So.. for that time.. speaking in an unknown tongue.. is not beneficial for the local church.. and it should be interpreted so that the rest of congregation know what is being said for the edification of the fellow brethren in that church.

The purpose of tongues in Acts 2.. has not changed for 1 Corinthians 12-14. It is still the same purpose for spreading the truth in other languages.

Point about the church at Corinth here.. they were getting the gift of speaking in tongues wrong. Not only this, they were getting the Lord's Supper wrong also. They were also upholding the likes of Paul and Apollos and following them.. rather than Jesus who was who Paul and co were pointing to. Corinth was also a port city.. and had all kinds in it.. with a church that was infected with the local climate of paganism and excess.

1Co 14:16 Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?
1Co 14:17 For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.
1Co 14:18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
1Co 14:19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

Gotta get the whole context here.

When Paul speaks of speaking though I speak tongues of angels.. it is hyperbole.. exaggeration to make a point.
"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels..."

If "angels" is hyperbole, then "men" must also be (due to sentence construction), but "men" is most definitely not for it occurred on The Day of Pentecost, so your argument does not stand up! Acts 2v8

Yeah, I think he speaks in tongues for sure, the language of Babel, called babbling. And maybe a little gibberish too. Tongues, like the rest of the gifts listed in 1 Cor 12:8-10, that were of a miraculous nature, no longer exist nor needed as they were then.
scripture for that ?

In regards to speaking in tongues, I will never forget when my friend (who previously attended an Assemblies of God church) went to a Bible study at his Pastor's house once a week and sometimes the Pastor would speak in tongues during their Bible study. My friend worked with a woman who attended a Baptist church and she was terrified of being around people who spoke in tongues, yet my friend convinced her to come to the Bible study to see for herself that she has nothing to fear. When his lady friend showed up at the Bible study, as soon as she walked in the front door, the Pastor began speaking in tongues very loudly with his hands high in the air, then he fell backwards to the floor, like he was doing the Nestea plunge! My friend said that even he was freaked out by the incident and when he turned around, his lady friend was running for the hills!:ROFL:

Brutal. And, how foolish. I'll bet that if we were there, we would see for ourselves that his "fall" was controlled. It is easy to see when someone is faking their fall versus uncontrollably falling. Biblically, we find people who throw themselves to the ground, (such as Moses), versus those who fell to the ground by the Power of God (such as young Saul on the Damascus Road). There is a drastic and critical difference.

Scripture confirms God uses tongues for different purposes.
1. All who receive God's gift of the Holy Ghost speak in tongues. (Acts 2:3-4, 10:44, 19:6) Notice all are mentioned, no one was excluded from having the experience.
2. Whereas not all operate in the spiritual gift of tongues which is then interpreted by the Holy Ghost through a person operating in that gift for edification of the church.

Speaking in tongues is a gift that has apparently come to an end.

1 Corinthians 13:8 KJV - "Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether [there be] tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away."

1 Corinthians 13:8 NLT - "Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!"

If tongues are intended to come to an end, I wouldn't get too excited about such a "gift."

if you sniff at God He will likely sniff at you.

you can't get away with quoting half scriptures for it clearly says when the perfect is come these things will pass away.
