Is any sin more sinful than any other sin? i.e. Is sin relative? Is getting intoxicated sin and the degree of intoxication relative?
Alcohol has a few purposes. Is any sin more sinful than any other sin? i.e. Is sin relative? Is getting intoxicated sin and the degree of intoxication relative?

I think we ask the wrong question. Often its asked at what point are we in sin when we do "x". I think its best to just love Jesus and serve him. If we drink then do it in moderation. It isnt elemental things that are sin. It's a rebellious heart that is sin.
it is the heart that says " i want to do what i want to do, no matter what".
that is the rebellious heart.
I have seen reports on the news that some of them have gotten DUI's and had difficult time in court. There’s a condition called auto brewery syndrome where yeast in someone’s gut produces excess ethanol. These people can have an extremely high blood alcohol level and exhibit the typical symptoms of drunkenness. However, they aren’t intentionally getting drunk. So is it a sin?

I think I saw that one of such cases did have doctor's evaluation or something like that but still sounded kind of problematic in court. Maybe just kind of general trying to get the facts straight. How many judges are even aware of that condition.Yeah for sure. The police would probably think they’re lying and wouldn’t know any different until all the evidence is sorted out in court. Better have the condition documented well by a doctor.

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12

Although I have not had a drink in over 42 years, my liver enzymes always come back with GGT very high. That's the enzyme that shows if a person is drinking too much alcohol. But I never drink, and I don't feel drunk. Something is affecting my liver, and now I am getting liver damage. I have always wondered if I have this. Not enough alcohol to be drunk, but a small amount daily 24/7 might be affecting my liver. Thanks for mentioning this name. Something I need to talk about with my liver specialist.
As to whether it is a sin if you have this syndrome? Of course it is not sin! Sin is something you make a choice to do. How can it be a sin if you have no control over it, and never even knew you had it?
