Back when I used to use AOL instant messenger, and hung out in chatrooms. That would of been way back in the early 2000's, I would meet people who would say pic for pic. And I would send a picture and they would send me a picture. Probably over half the time, as soon as they got my picture they logged off. Or blocked me. I'm not sure which. lol But after I sent this new person a picture of me I haven't heard back either. lol A professional photographer, can usually get me to look ok. But I can't ever seem to do it on my own. Even my Dad says, He isn't photogenic.
When I used to try dating sites, and also when I was active in social media, I always had some pictures of myself there. I gradually quit doing that. What I learned is, sometimes I get into trouble. Not on purpose, or course. But when someone gets upset at you, they can make up anything they want about you. If they got your picture, there is nothing stopping them from using that picture against you.
I remember one time, i had a rude awakening. I was a long time member of a site called Xianz. I told this story before. Things were winding down. People weren't active in the chats like they used to be. And I was on another website called Jcfaith. And things weren't active there either. I guess i was in a bad mind set? Or maybe it was because I got used to the fact that people on Xianz, would say some crazy things. I don't know. But to me drugs has always been sort of a joke. Something that I consider to be stupid. I used to poke fun at how some people would justify smoking pot. Some guy, a moderator popped into the room, and said "Hey what is going on in here?" There was nothing going on, so I made a sarcastic statement, like "We are all just smoking weed out of good Christian faith LOL" He replied, "What did you say?" Then I got banned for it. To make a long story short, I got permanently banned from the entire site. They kept my profile, and all the pictures I uploaded. I tried emailing them, asking them to remove my account, but they just ignored me. It stayed that way until the whole website got shutdown. What I learned from that experience is, anytime you upload a picture to the the internet it becomes the property of the website owner, and they can do whatever they want.
Now days I try to be more careful about what I say online. But because of always being so careful, I also don't have as much fun anymore either.
