They're looking for something called the Higgs boson which they believe is the most base subatomic particle that basically holds the universe together
But there are all matters of cuckoo conspiracy theory saying they are going to open a black hole and destroy the universe or open portals to another dimension like on Rick and Morty or something

I believe it was Thomas Jefferson who said why would God give us intellect and expect us to forgo its use?

3: If you look hard enough for something to prove what you already believe, you will find it whether it exists or not.

4: You probably don't have to worry too much. I'm fairly sure God won't let them destroy the planet. The Bible says the world will end a very different way. Satan's destruction is more insidious and he destroys things that matter a lot more.

However....
The current scientific theory is that it's a hydrocarbon filled titanium balloon. Really....the seizmographs show its hollow but filled with something that transmits the waves. And they can't drill but past a few feet. Because it's like drilling metal. Also all the craters are concave....none are convex. Meaning that the theories about the moon's origins being "leftover" material from earth is absolutely disproven.
But gravity on the moon is slightly more than was expected...meaning that the magnetic field of gravity is increased by something in its core.

So....lots to learn there.

Shiva is only solely destroyer in the trimurti or shakta. In other branches of the religion he is creator and destroyer, or sometimes one of five gods.

I didn't say YOU are worried about anything. That part was mostly directed at the one who was talking about opening wormholes.

Well, they call it empty. Just means they cannot detect anything there, which does not mean nothing is there.

It brings to mind the Scripture verses about God confounding the wisdom of the wise.

Oh yeah, I saw this... In Beast Wars, at the end of season one, the aliens who seeded Earth with life and energon transformed the moon into a giant reflector dish that warmed up the earth to ignite the energon deposits. It was like sterilizing a petri dish. Optimus Primal himself flew up in a retrofit statis pod to blow it up before it could complete the task.

Wait, no... that was one of the two moons. The remaining one was the one we see today.

Hmm... Maybe it's a relic from some OTHER alien race that didn't know the first aliens were also running an experiment here.
