No, I'm just aware of Leviticus 11 and what Torah-observant Messianic Jews do, and I thought that they might not be the healthiest things to eat, so I'm testing the waters. I've since had ham on pizza, and to tell you the truth, it grossed me out. Though I didn't feel guilty.
I'm also in contact with an on-line Messianic Ephraim group and a Christian Hebrew-roots group, so I'm influenced by what I see them do. No one has ever told me what to eat. It's what people choose to do.
be careful with the hebrew roots movement. they are not in the new covenant many times. read the book of galatians for an expose of this movement.
i also dont eat pork except maybe twice a year if im eating out, it is poor quality meat compared to beef. but we need not think that God is demanding us to obstain from pork, or that we are closer to God by doing so. the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking.
Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Mark 7:19
For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)
reason i warn you brother about the hebrew roots movement is that this movement wants to put people back under the law of Moses. they are masters of double talk and twisting verses. for evidence of this look up 119 ministries on youtube and look at their teachings, they still teach men should be circumcised in the new covenant. even though the new testament is so clearly against such a teaching, they just twist and turn to make it fit.
few examples of this double talk: they quote Jesus saying not one jot or tittle from the law will vanish until all be fulfilled and say see there? you still have to keep the feasts, get circumcised, keep the sabbath, keep the dietary laws. but these same hypocrites also will turn around and teach you no longer have to gather in Jerusalem for these holy days like the bible says, and they also usually teach animal sacrifices arent for today. the bible says they are to be done from generation to generation. so if you believe the law is still in effect, you need to do all of it not just parts.
they will try to trip you into thinking they preach salvation by grace thru faith. they say things like "you are saved by grace through faith, not of works.................. buuuuut later on you should get circumcised, keep the sabbath, do this and that for sanctification" in other words. if you dont do it ever, odds are you werent really saved to begin with since you dont have the obedience.
there is also double talk in this teaching because to say you should get circumcised is not true if we are to follow the old testament. in the old testament if you werent circumcised you were cut off from the people. not just dont worry about it grace get it done later. Moses almost died for disobeying this commandment. one man died for breaking the sabbath in the OT. these laws were no joke.
please if you have any questions about any verses talk to me i dont want someone to get trapped into the law of Moses.
