I don't think there is any difference.
But getting back to verse 2, it's interesting that the word "takes away" literally means "lifts up".
2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He [
a]takes away; and every
branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
This supports the thought that those in Him, not bearing fruit, are not tossed into the fire like those NOT in Him, but are rather taken away from bearing "much fruit", which results in rewards, NOT SALVATION, at the judgement seat of Christ.
Those people will be there because Jesus is their foundation, but they didn't build ANYTHING of value on that foundation.
