There's plenty of commands to get water baptized. I guess it just demonstrates a lack of faith on your part if you obstinately reject it. I am not sure what that means, but it's between you and God.
I've said this so many times on this forum.... How could King David sing and write about his salvation even though he did not receive water baptism? Will you be the first one to give me a respectable explanation?

unless I am mistaken you said this isn't about works, and as you so well put it it is God's word not mine. So then please by all means tell me what this verse is saying if not what I was saying or am I to understand that you also do not understand scripture like me?

Not me. It means just what it says...faith without works is dead.....not effective....wrong....not acceptble to God, etc.
We are ambassadors for Christ while here on this earth. We must do God's work ....spreading His word and inviting the lost to accept Christ as savior.
No one can work ONLY and receive eternal salvation...we must live a life of righteousness with works.

Only the ...new age religion...types who deplore baptism, preach OSAS..once saved always saved...while on this earth..a myth, universalism....everyone saved, etc uses the negative of works to cause separation from God of Christians.

What is it you do not understand about the difference from the ......OT and the NT...the old covenant and the new covenant.
King David was NOT under the NT. He existed under the animal sacrifice OT of sin forgiveness.

Keep it in context and stop attempting to miss lead.

David wasn't commanded to get water baptized, but you and I are.

You do not know the meaning of the first baptism. I resisted the Baptism of the Holy Spirit for a number of reasons, mostly because I was bound by evil spirits that lied to me. It was also because my first encounter with a Pentecostal put me off. I had an occult background. He spoke briefly about a Holy Ghost. I knew about ghosts alright. I could not conceive of a holy one.

I'm glad that I took time. The Lord has kept me from the spiritual pride that many Pentecostals suffer. That was another turn off for me. I observed the lifestyle of some of these "spiritual giants" and I was unimpressed. For a long time, all I could see was emotionalism masquerading as spirituality. When I received the Holy Spirit, I was on my own, Christmas Eve 1974. No music playing, no emotional preaching, just Jesus and me.
Explain to me what do you mean by first baptism and how does it differ from the second.

I've never heard of a Christian rejecting water baptism. But if they did, what are the results of a person refusing to be dunked underwater?

It’s less about the physical aspect of getting in water and more about having faith in doing what one is told to do per 1 Peter 3:21 and others.

As far as I can tell if someone refuses to get water baptized then they won’t get a resurrected body later on. They’ll remain a disembodied soul, though fully saved, and possibly lose some rewards for disobedience. Or maybe nothing. Maybe it depends on what God thinks. I think if we have commands to do something we need to do it.

When God gives a command in the kingdom and we say “No.” how well do you think that’s going to fly? It won’t fly and that individual will lose that fight. I don’t know what happens, but probably wise to not test it.

That's God's word....not mine. Why don't you address the Bible...not me. I am saying nothing. The scriptures are your challenge...not me.

John 3;16 won't work for you....because when does repentance come in to play....then?

Hello!!!
Eph 4

4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

EVERYONE before Christ was under the OT. MANY were saved.
The ritual of water baptism was SYMBOLIC and pointed toward Jesus.
After Jesus conquered death, the only baptism that matters is that of the Holy Spirit.

I was water baptized because I was told that it was necessary. I repented my sins.
Since then I have sinned numerous times.
The Holy Spirit visited me YEARS LATER.
Now I repent DIRECTLY. The Holy Spirit abides in me.
I don't need to make a display of my repentance. Just ask me, I will tell you.
I have nothing to prove to Man. Not through water rituals or through speaking jibberish.
Not through communion. Nor through reciting the Lord's prayer (which Jesus taught AGAINST).

You have interesting beliefs. Jesus said if you confess Him before men then He'll confess you before the Father, to do good works before men so they may glorify your Father in Heaven.

Where did you see Jesus taught against saying the Lord's prayer?

If you think that there is ANY act that you can do with your sinful, corrupt, physical body that will please God, you are mistaken and don't understand what being "Born-Again" means.
Your rituals are Pagan.

I confess to you here and now that I am a sinful creature and require God's grace, mercy and forgiveness.
I believe that Jesus took upon himself to pay the price of my sins, that through Him I might be saved.

There, I just confessed, before men.

As for the Lord's prayer. Everyone should read the verses immediately prior to Jesus' example of how to pray.

This is from Mathew 6. It can also be found in Luke 11.

Giving to the Needy
6 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Prayer
5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 “This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,[a]
but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’

whoa...the two cannot go together...a Christian cannot be a christian unless he is baptized. a person is not born again until baptized.

Wow .......you are mixing blowing your own horn when helping the needy and repentance before man kind.
what a crock....you know better.
That language addresses those who think they can buy their way into Heaven....and get accolades here on earth also.

Your copy of the Lord's prayer is fragmented....at best...dangling participle..... would be more accurate.

Before further posting...you need scriptures studying time.
Be blessed.

Not sin cleansed.
Not righteous.
Not born again.
Not a Christian.
Not eligible to be found worthy for award of eternal salvation by God at His judgement after the person's physical death.
