This song was sung at my dad's funeral. Going on 17 years this year and it still hurts to hear. 😢
So sorry for your pain. However, it sounds like you were graced with a Father who made himself "lovable" to you. My father was not that way, so you Truly are a fortunate one.

God Bless you . . .

18 years and I'm still single. When you lose the love of your life, there's no where else to go. Oh well.

I just saw that for the first time last night. I had tears streaming down my face knowing that she had died and that I had never known that she release that version of Luther's original.

Did you listen to Luther's tune? The song celebrates women like they're the True Golden Gems that they Truly are. It is such an incredible song . . . I always wished that I had a woman in my life that would allow me to express myself to her in such a fashion. I never did find one, though. They all turned on me like unpredictable tornadoes.
You must be thinking of a different song. All the Man That I Need was never performed nor written by Luther (Vandross, you mean?) It was written by Dean Pitchford and Michael Gore. The song was first recorded by Linda Clifford for her album I'll Keep on Loving You (1982).

Dean Pitchford wrote/co-wrote a lot of great songs, some my favs like 'I'm Free' and "Don’t Fight It" by Kenny Loggins, 'You Should Hear How She Talks About You' by Melissa Manchester, Almost Paradise Mike Reno and Ann Wilson.

Well, knock me down and call me Sam! I had no idea that Luther wasn't the originator of that tune. I figured that Whitney performed the female version of the version that Luther released. Thanks for clarifying. :)

Thanks! Luther does a cool rendition. And I was mistaken about Luther not recording it. My mistake was i searched for All The Woman I Need and didn't see Luther... but his, not surprisingly, is called All the Woman I Need.
This song of "his" is my all-time favorite song of his. It is a masterpiece. Luther is the greatest male vocalist I've ever heard. Being a drummer, starting nearly forty years ago, I hear a master of timing . . . utterly flawless. Anyway, I'm glad that you saw some listening value in it. :)

Thank you for saying so and I'm sorry things weren't loving between you and your dad.

God bless you too.

Saw this thread a while ago... but I knew posting here was going to dredge up some unwanted memories so I put it off awhile. Anyways, here are a few songs that evoke emotions that usually I just want to bury. Sometimes I dust them off though, because it's not a good idea to simply forget the hard lessons learned in one's past.

Nothing hurts more than loving someone. I'm told it's also what makes life worth living, don't know about that myself.

Every time I hear this one, I remember what it was like to be a dopey 16-year-old who was still looking forward to the years ahead. I wonder what I would say to that version of myself. "Take time to enjoy life now, kid, because it's not going to get better than this"? Maybe.

The human state always gets me down if I dwell on it for too long. A sobering reminder of how it will end for those who reject Jesus:

Speaks for itself.

I don’t know. I mean some songs can take a person back to good and bad memories. I just love all music. Love to dance, and I love bob marley. He cheers me up when I’m sad because it’s happy music. I love worship, but basically whatever I’m in the mood for.

When it comes to church, I'm extremely old fashioned in preference. I like the old hymns for their doctrinal depth and appropriate spirit. I'm much more eclectic when I'm just listening to music around the house.

^ That was a weird post. The first "okay" was a remnant of another post I was working on, lol.

So the tone of the post ended up just being strange or even sarcastic. All I was saying was that I like a good mix of music too. :)
