I have a question for you all. Do you believe the gift of prophesy can be used in a negative way? See I used to always say to God that I want to see through his eyes even if it meant losing mine I said to a pastor one time I don't need these eyes to see and I suppose I prophesied my own demise because I almost went completely blind the sun hurt them I couldn't see what was right in front of me and even now through so much surgery and with so many of the eye treatments including shots in my eye ball I can only see just enough to be on here with much straining on my eyes as the white background hurts my eyes and readding is hard because of it.

So what do you all think?
I'm sorry for what you are going through. However, I don't believe what you are describing is actually a prophecy, though.

The true gift of prophecy isn't used in a negative way. Even, though we might get rebuked through a prophecy at times. It is still for our ultimate good. It is used to encourage, warn, advise, sometimes rebuke others. It is not used as a curse or anything evil.

Just because you made a statement about losing your eyesight and it actually happened... that doesn't mean you prophesied the loss of your sight.

I've always been warned to weigh my words, and it is a good idea to do this in everything even/especially in prayer.

True it could be that if you believe in coincidence what happened to me may simply be that, but on other hand it is kind of strange that what I said is exactly what happened. I do think that either way perhaps I loss my sight so that he could show his glory.

I have been dealing with Wet Macular Degeneration for over 30 years. One eye went immediately. Now, the good eye, which is not very good has been undergoing over 30 procedures, mainly injections in the eye.

I was blessed to realize fully that we do not see anything fully with our eyes, but with thespirit a. I began thanking God for my so -called disability immediately when it began. The worse it become the more I felt His nearness A
ls, now no matter what has come upon me, crvical artrosis, osteoarthritis, and so forth, I thank God, and it allseems to not truly be a condition rather my next step to be withJesus Yeshua. I pray this is so.

Some older folks say growing old is not for sissies, but I say growing old is marvelou, getting closer to home all of the time.

mAY gOD BLESS ALL TO HAVE THIS JOY WITH TIME, AMEN

I think the demon stated the truth about Yeshua because knowing who He was, there was no point in trickery. The demon was terrified, as it should've been. Corrupting the genetics of Hashem's creation was, and is, a terrible sin.

Prophesying does not originate with the negative thoughts of the individual, but rather is a message from divine inspiration. While it's possible to prophesy without actually intending to, often it can also be deliberately tapping into the gift the God has given and utilizing accordingly.

I'm more inclined to believe that you seeing you don't need your eyes was not a prophecy because it isn't necessary to be blind to see through the eyes of God. For example, Jesus is God and didn't need to be blind to see like God does.

I'm not so sure that we can ever see exactly like God does because we aren't God, but I guess we can try to view people through the lens of the teachings of Jesus. I think it's accurate to say that what Jesus taught His followers to do is also what God does;Jesus gave us a heavenly standard and most importantly we are to love God and our neighbor as ourselves.

show where in 1cor 12 through 14 it is about prophets with the Gift of Prophesying?
I Corinthians 14
9 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge. 30 But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged. 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
(NKJV)

Bold emphasis mine.

I would say 1 Corinthians 14:1 is probably the best one in the chapter about desiring the spiritual gift of prophesying.

1 Cor. 14:1
1Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.

1 Corinthians 12-14 is about spiritual gifts because that's relevant to the readers. Paul is telling the Corinthian church that spiritual gifts are a real thing that those in the church can have and should desire.

That's often true for the modern church, but the early church was Spirit led. Now, people quietly warm the pews and nod their head while the same person drones on every Sunday and Wednesday.

I firmly believe that God didn't send the Living Word, His Son Jesus of Nazareth, just to supply generation after generation of people with endless sermon material.

In the early church, people firmly believed in spiritual gifts, like I do, because not only did they have them but also Paul confirmed to them that they weren't crazy when they prophesied or spoke in tongues, they were richly blessed to the praise and glory of God.

Now we have people who say "the spiritual gifts have ceased." or "prophesying isn't about the spiritual gift of prophecy." These are denominational teachings and are not found anywhere in the Bible.

I also see that those people who do not believe in spiritual gifts such as tongues or prophesying, will cherry pick the spiritual gifts they believe are still in effect because they are more common or they have them. This is that "form of godliness but denying the power thereof" that Paul warned about.

A manifestation of the Holy Spirit is given to every person. Everyone with the Holy Spirit has a spiritual gift. It is possible to have one or all of the spiritual gifts

1 Corinthians 12:
7But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

Well, let's not say anyone is insignificant, but yes everyone has a spiritual gift. Even faith is a spiritual gift. Every true believer has faith. God may just be waiting for people to want more gifts and to ask?

"Have I not said that if you'd call out My name
And let your tears flow like a river untamed
You must cry out in the night as the watches begin
And pour out your heart, for I hear my friends
And the breath of the Bridegroom will come up on you
And I will anoint you to preach to the poor
To relieve the oppressed and give sight to the blind
To proclaim to the prisoners they won't get left behind" - kp

yes, I have and the context of prophesying is Proclaiming in 1cor 14 :) The Greek word prophēteuō means speak under inspiration. Paul is not speaking about the office of Prophet that was established in chapter 12, the context is the gifts of the Holy Spirit which are

known as the pneumatikos ina addition paul also taught on the charisma and the offices ministries of
apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastor/ teachers known as doma and the didōmi.
I think you are drawing some distinctions here where there is most likely overlap. Paul opens up chapter 12 saying he did not want them to be ignorant concerning spiritual gifts, and near the end of chapter 14 says if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. I take all of the gifts in the lists to be spiritual gifts-- pneumatikos-- in this case. They all come by grace, including apostles, prophets, etc. So they are charismata. Ephesians 4 also calls them charismata. So I don't think Paul is saying certain gifts are pneumatikos but not charismata.

Also, I would venture go guess most Christians take 'prophet' to mean ' one who prophesies.' If there are people who give one-off prophecies who aren't prophets, prophet is still associated with prophesying. Just like a teacher teaches. Can imagine if someone would teach, "A teacher is not someone who teaches. He is just someone who sits on the five-fold church committee." It seems like some of the people in the NAR have a similar view when it comes to prophesying and prophets.

I am reading between the lines, but I recall your associating prophesying with teaching. Paul says that he who prophesies speaks to men to comfort, edification, and exhortation. But he does not say that all comforting, edifying, and exhorting speech is prophesying. Prophesying already had a meaning, a definition, before Paul wrote the chapter. Peter explained what prophesying was when he was describing prophecies in ancient times-- holy men spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. These type of utterances comfort, edify, and exhort.

There are a few ways to interpret these verses, but prophet, revelation, and prophesying are all related here in I Corinthians 14.

29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

If the prophecy come true that may from the Lord but when it wrong, it not from the Lord
Recently I listen some wrong prophecy
I remember Kenneth cooplan prophecy in the summer 2020 Covid 19 will be no more.
And it's wrong. If God who told to Kenneth, it will come true, so God not talk to him
Another pastor prophecy Donal trump will win and it was wrong. God never wrong, so if prophecy not happen, than not from God
I like Donald Trump and wanted him to win very much ... but I knew he wouldn't, not by any prophecy but just because I study politics.

I shook my head sadly when I saw all the prophets out prophesying his victory ... some people were stumbled by it. But most people are like me and sift these things in our minds.

If you is walking in the Spirit yourself, if you tread softly with God, you will know ...

You know, prior to Trump winning in 2016, I was praying as many were for our leadership and that (Yes,)Hilary Clinton would not win. The Media and all polls said she would be anointed POTUS.

God hates Idolatry and Pride. Both are greatly interwoven in the Democratic Party and the GOP. When Trump won it was to answer prayer then and to show their Christian God is in control. It was a short time of Grace given. The Church was supposed to take that time and make the most of it.

In 2020, The Church was divided and looking to yet again men to do for them what God can only do. COVID-19 came out of nowhere and the attacks on Trump with the lies caused us to not see the enemy plan to hit us. The Church is still sleeping.

MANY THINK AS THE GOP THAT THE 2022 MIDTERM WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING. I do not believe it will. Everything that is in me says we will be at war or another arm's race very soon with China and Russia. Ukraine and Twain will e the places to watch. I do believe the civil unrest will intensify. Very soon we most likely will see attacks in our country by those who have come across the border. Omer is about to introduce an Islamicphobeia bill to the HOUSE.

The book of Jerimiah is really a great read today when we look at the text, This Prophet was saying Judgement is coming. The nation was pointing at the temple of the Lord, then sought false prophets to tell them what they wanted to hear.

FYI the false prophets are in the House and Senate and the White house. The spirit of deception and anti-christ is having free reign. We are about to have the biggest rude awakening as Did Isreal when their land was given to another. God hates idolatry and Pride.

He stepped in with the election of 2016, God allowed the devil to take 2020. the GOP is trying to sell the midterm as the turnaround listen, there has not been a turnaround in the midterm until Trump came in and showed all that both parties were doing nothing.

This battle for the "Church" must be fought on our knees. Many are too carnal and casual in their walk. The time for playing is over.

be hot or cold you can't be both.

I agree I am not going to say he is saved or not. He was used sure showed all how much both parties are ungodly
