Christ was sent to tell us about the kingdom of heaven and the sermon on the mount is the best of those instructions Christ gave for how we are to live with heaven as our true home.

Matt. 4:17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

The kingdom of heaven is the promised earthly kingdom to the Jews. It was at hand with their promised King at hand. The throne David will be restored on earth as the Jewish Messiah reigns over all the kingdoms of the earth. The mystery was that this Messiah would have to die first making a way unto righteousness.

The law to murder is an example. Jesus said you have been told not to murder, but I tell you. The law not to murder was not cancelled, it was fulfilled and made perfect.

Jesus did not say this

He said he fulfilled the law which he did

And he showed that the law that says you shall not murder is just a command. It goes much deaper than this. When you actually get to the point of murder. You have already commited sin before the act even occured.

He fulfilled the law. So we who have not fulfilled the law could be saved.

The pharisees watered down the law and made it appear like they kept it. Jesus refuted them and showed how they manipulated the law. Then showed how impossible it was to try to get to God in plan A. And then turned it on its feet and said if you want to get to heaven that way, Be perfect as your faith in heaven is perfect.

What Jesus showed is that ANYONE who looks to the law and even has the NOTION they are good people. Need to re-examine themselves and look to God, Because their is non righteousness, no not one.

The sermon on the mount is not a sermon to tell us how to live, it was a sermon to tell us how sinful we are. A d how if we try to live by the letter of the command, or the law. how we miss the point that we are still sinners. Because overt sins start with mental attitude sins, which are not condemned by the law

The sermon on the mount jesus gave is Gods standard

Be perfect.

Non of us live up to that standard. That fact should get us to repent and keep looking to Christ look to serve and not be served, and stop trying to live up to a standard we can’t live up to. (Self willed thinking ) and start thinking instead of giving out what God gives us
 
Paul merely expounded and simplified, in some instances, what Christ was already teaching.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

That is Christ.

Galatians 3:24-25
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

That is Paul.


Same, but Paul expounds and simplifies.

John 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

Christ even says why He cannot say the things that He has to say then. But He will say them through Paul when the time has come.

The kingdom of heaven is for mankind and does not exclude any man in any way. That is illustrated in the gospels. A Canaanite woman had a daughter with a demon and went to Jesus for help even though she was a gentile. Christ told her he came for the Jews, she said even she should have his care. Christ cured the daughter and said of the mother: Matt.15:30 "Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment."

But did he mention the kingdom of heaven to her?

Are you suggesting that we do not listen to the sermon on the mount with any thought except to condemn ourselves?

If we follow Christ we don't go into these poor me, I am a sinner. We accept the forgiveness of sin offered us and glory in the righteousness of God within. We listen to the God that is now within us and do our best to follow that and not follow this sin you keep preaching.

We listen to the sermon on the mount with our hearts open to the Lord, no closed on our sin.

Now if perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood (for on this basis
the people received the law), why was there still need for another priest to appear—one in
the order of Melchizedek and not in the order of Aaron? For of the priesthood being changed,
from necessity a change of Law also takes place. Hebrews 7:11-12

And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight. Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name. But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.

Paul was chosen by God to be a preacher of the Gospel, but Jesus Christ was the Gospel. Jesus and Paul both taught the same Gospel of the Kingdom of God.

To show what Christ taught does not match up with what He gave Paul as doctrine to the church.

the second part of matt 5 is jesus refuting the idea that the pharisees where living according to the law as they claimed. Jesus said if we want to enter. Our righteousness must exceed there’s. They were the law keepers. They were the ones every one looked up to as the righteous ones. Because they kept the law.

Jesus told them no. They lowered the standard of the law. By saying the law said this, But I tell you. Then he also went into man made law and refuted that also. Fina;ly he gave the requirment if you want to enter by your own deeds. Be perfect as your father in heaven is perfect.

You lawyers keep thinking the law is the standard. The only thing the law can do is curse you where you stand. Jesus told the people to stop following these lawyers. And follow Christ.

Jesus did not come to cast away the law he came to fulfill it, COmplete it. Bring it to its conclusion.

He did that.

The law is a schoolmaster to lead us to christ. Now why do you continue to try to tell people the law is the teacher of Good deeds? How can you not read what Jesus wrote and think you can still follow the law? Jesus just gave a few examples of how the law was week in trying to help us live. It was not given that way. Yet people water down the law day after day year after year to make it appear they are righteous. pumping their chest and praising God they are not like the sinner, when every second of every day they are just as much a sinner, just as guilty and just as cursed. By the law as everyone else.

People do not like to hear how sinful they are. Thats why they water down the law. They do not like to hear how hopeless they are. Thats why they need rules and regulations so they can convince themselves they are good people.

Face it. We are evil people in need to Christ. Apart from Christ we are hopeless and headed to the fires of hell. Thats why the law teaches us.

yet lawyers like you preach how we need to follow an unkeepable law day after day.

I pray for you as I know Jesus prayed for his people. Thankfully we know some repented (nicodemus, Saul/paul) so there is still hope That people will be truly trained by the law and turn and seek what is the true way to sanctification and growth. (If they are saved)

The Lord told the disciples that if they did not forgive men their trespasses, neither would their trespasses be forgiven. Being forgiven was based upon the condition that you forgive others first. That's not church doctrine. We are forgiven of all trespasses the moment we put our trust in Jesus Christ, His d,b,r for sins.
 
Forgiveness, a part of sanctification of the soul, is, in my humble opinion, a process.
As I understand it, when I first believed, my spirit was instantly reborn because it was legally cleared to be,
