The significance of Christ keeping the Law

I think as a believer in Jesus Christ we should surely understand the significance of Christ keeping the Law. He didn't do it for Himself, being perfect in everyway of Himself, He did it for us! The just demands of the Law of God-- the Ten Commandments, must be kept to enter the Kingdom of God, but fallen man could not meet those demands in his condition.

Jesus Christ not only died for our sins, He also met the demands of the broken Law and kept that Law to perfection becoming the Second Adam to undo the curse man brought on himself.

Faith in Jesus Christ grants the believer a satisfied judgement and the position of Perfect Law-Keeper in the sight of God! Through faith, His victory over sin and meeting the demands of God's Law becomes our victory!

Fallen man could not meet the demands of a Perfect God, so He sends a Redeemer, a Saviour, a Perfect Sacrifice for man to deliver him from his sins and place him in the position that meets His Perfect demands.

God's standard of righteousness is the moral Law, the Ten Commandments. With Christ now having been that Sacrifice for our sins, and having kept the Law perfectly, by faith in Him, we are declared righteous and perfect in the righteousness of the Perfect Law of God.

Let's look at what Paul has to say about it.

Romans 8:3-4

"For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

In order for the righteousness of the Law to be fulfilled in us, there must be righteousness in the Law, especially since it was given by God. But for that righteousness to be obtained by man, perfect obedience had to be rendered, which was impossible because of the "weakness of the flesh."

"Walking after the flesh" is one trying to obtain that righteousness of their own ability by works, it simply cannot be done in man's fallen position! "Walking after the Spirit" is one who has placed his total faith in Jesus Christ, that the righteousness demanded by God will be obtained by faith in what Christ has done for us through the guiding of the Holy Spirit.

The bottom line is that man who places his faith in Jesus Christ will be granted the righteousness of God to enter into His Kingdom.

I think I've said all I care to say about the Law, it just seemed to be an issue, but I'm happy to move on to other things.

It should be clear, indeed, that when God the Father looks down at the believer, He sees the blood and imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Himself sees us as a perfect bride.

Song of Solomon 4:7 says,

Sng 4:7, Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.

As I declared in another thread, we have an unshakable identity in Christ...that we are righteous...even when we blow it (Romans 4:5).

The exhortation, then, is, Now that you have this identity, go and live like it (1 John 3:7, Romans 5:19, Matthew 5:6, Matthew 5:20).

Gods standard is so far deeper than this.

When your just focused on the ten commands. And not on the true meaning of sin. You fail to understand the grasp of your situation before God. You fail to grasp how deep seated our problem is. And we fail to grasp truly how the love and mercy of God is so overwhelming and unfashionable, that you nope have a basis to look outward in all you do because you know how deep Gods love truly is for you.

True believers never walk away from Gods saving grace because they truly understand it. They are not focused on laws. They are focused on loving and serving others. Because they understand the true standard of righteousness is so far out there and so impossible to even keep. They have to. Otherwise they will crumble under their guilt

When a child of God is not looking at sin and the word and fails to grasp how deep their sin issue is. Chances are they do not understand it.

Now while they may be saved (only God knows this) they do not understand the gravity of their sin and are thus at a disadvantage to breaking the bonds of that sin.

I would only say that the law is spiritual and that the Holy Spirit is perfectly capable of applying it to the heart; so that we may understand that we have sinned in our hearts even if we have not sinned outwardly.

By the law is the knowledge of sin (Romans 3:20).

And you have even admitted, in another thread, that there is no sin that isn't mentioned in holy scripture.

The law is not limited to the ten, or even the 613.

There are moral tenets in the New Testament that even show a person that he or she has not yet received entire sanctification (which is even possible in this life, 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (kjv), Hebrews 10:14 (kjv), 1 John 3:9) and that therefore they need to continue to presson toward the goal of the prize of the upward calling of God in Christ Jesus.

We are certainly not to give up on reaching this goal, thinking that because we have been justified, we can rest on our laurels

I will keep exposing evil teachings.

They turn people away from God not toward God.

and they make it so we can not even truly know God.

Sin is ANYTHING we do which is not focused on others. It is based on PRIDE it is rooted in the flesh.

out of it comes hatred. Bearing false witness Adultry. Thievery. Dishonoring of our parents. Etc etc etc.

Worse yet, You can have that same mental attitude of sin and not break any of those commands. Like the pharisees did.

Adam sinned because he stopped looking at God and started looking to self. And out of this base sin, he looked at what eve did and took of the forbidden fruit

You think it is just breaking laws

They give laws to prosecute guilty people. And to keep a city from falling into anarchy and chaos.

God gave the ten commands so no one would have an excuse. Because all have sinned and fall short.

As james said if you keep al ten, yet stumble in one part. You are guilty/

Yes, I do see it. Jesus met the demands of the broken Law for us by becoming the Second Adam and undoing what the first Adam had done, separated us from God by sin.

He kept the Law perfectly as demanded for man to do, (but man couldn't), in order to be that perfect sacrifice, having now fulfilled the Law of God, the righteousness of the Law is fulfilled in us by faith in Him who did keep the Law perfectly.

The Law ended in Christ, He is the culmination of the Law. By faith in Christ, when God sees us in Christ, He sees perfection even though we are not perfect. He sees a perfect Law-keeper in us by the victory of Christ. It's all by faith in Christ.

Praise God for His mercy toward us, He is a wonderful God full of Grace and mercy for man, if only we will believe Him!
