The Trinity in Psalm 2

This is not going to be an in depth Bible study by any means since many Bible scholars have done this far more justice than I ever could. I just wanted to finally write it up because it’s awesome and tickles me every time I read it. I love this. 🙂
I wanted to do a very simple presentation of this with the warm encouragement to be a Berean like Acts 17:11 refers to because I certainly am no scholar or theologian. I sincerely hope it inspires any reader to further study because you will be blessed and enjoy it. It’s an amazing study!
The Bible is giving us a glimpse here of a discussion occurring between God the Father, the Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
When I learned about this several years ago, I was awestruck and humbled. It certainly inspired me to further study that was truly eye opening and I hope that I can “pass that forward” to even one other person.
There is so much happening in this Psalm. I highly recommend that if this interests you that you prayerfully seek out a sound Bible teacher that has done this study since there is some remarkable context and subtext in the original language. I most certainly needed to have my hand held because I have no Hebrew or Greek background.
I will now present the entire Psalm with a few brief comments by me in bold strictly as indicators. Enjoy! 🙂
Psalm 2
[Voice and perspective of God the Father:]
2 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
[Switch to voice and perspective of The Son Jesus:]
7 I will declare the decree:
the Lord hath said unto Me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.
(^^ Jesus is being spoken to here by God the Father)
[Switch to voice and perspective of the Holy Spirit:]
10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11
Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Amen. This can’t happen fast enough and there isn’t much time left before it does.
If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal savior please don’t put it off. Jesus warned us Himself of what things in the world would look like in Matthew 24, Luke 21, Romans 1:18-32, 2 Timothy 3, and so forth. We are there. How can anyone deny that we aren’t in the thick of that when taking into account converging events and phenomena? We are far removed from business as usual Please don’t wait any longer.
