After thinking on this, I've decided that I've focused on the wrong thing. Although I do believe that the Sabbath is important, the most important thing is that Jesus died for us, and that if we accept Him then we have salvation. I do apologize for putting such an emphasis on the Sabbath; although I do believe that it is important, it's not my job to force it down people's throats, and I fear that that's what I've been doing. Rather, I should've focused on sharing the love that God has for us all. I'm sorry if I have offended anyone or have seemed to condemn their religious beliefs. I'm a firm believer that the closer we get to God and the better our relationship with Him gets, the easier it will be for us to see the truth. Whether you believe in the Sabbath or not, I shouldn't have judged anyone for that so I apologize. I know when to admit that I'm in the wrong. I hope you all can forgive me and accept my apology. I do of course still believe in the Sabbath, and I will proudly say that I am a Seventh-day Adventist. I don't understand why people believe that we are a cult; I will admit that we do have a tendency to put an overemphasis on the Sabbath at times, but we go to church the same as you. We have Sabbath school and sing hymns and listen to preachings. We have potlucks and we have programs. We believe in God and we believe that He's coming soon. I understand that our doctrines are much different than others, but so were Jesus's teachings when He came to Earth. People thought that He was blasphemous and that He was disregarding the law. Little did they know that He would die to save all of them. I'm not saying that this is the exact same situation, but I will say that we shouldn't jump to conclusions on things just because they are unfamiliar to us, myself included, because I know I've done the same at times. Our doctrines are not the things that will save us, but our faith and trust in God will. No I do not believe that salvation is by works but faith alone, and no I am not contradicting myself because works coincide with faith. If I say that I have faith in you that if I jump you'll catch me, but when you ask me to jump I don't jump, do I really have faith in you? No, I don't, because if I did I would have jumped and had faith that you would catch me. No Adventist has said "you can't go to heaven unless you work for it." None that I know of.
We are all Christ believers, no matter what denominations we come from. Even if we have doctrinal differences, let us still show love and respect to each other, myself included, and remember that we are all one in Christ. I trust that He will lead usto the truth. Again, my point right now is not to say "I'm right and you're wrong." I am only trying to apologize for the rudeness that I may have conveyed and for upsetting anyone. I ask that you please forgive me, and I'm sorry for not conveying the love of Christ that I've talked about so often. With God's help, I plan to do better. Peace and love to you all, brothers and sisters. May God bless you and your families, and I pray that His love will prevail. Amen.

Yes I understand. Like I said, I won't be able to explain it as good as the video that I linked, but yes of course the reasoning I offered isn't the strongest. I was just pulling from history. God bless you.

it was a command for the nation of Israel only. it was never commanded for gentiles. we are to take a day of rest, as God the father instituted in the Creation, but non-jews were never under the Sabbath command.
Where is that in the bible?

The Shabbat is made for man.........not man for the Shabbat.

So, when a religious organization that is pretending to be a Christian denomination teaches that you "must KEEP", what is given to man as a rest, or could be described as a gift from WORK, then this cult is changing the idea of a day of rest into a legalistic commandment to try to bring you into bondage to the old covenant.
I do agree with you that we shouldn't place such an emphasis on the Sabbath as to make it legalistic. That is a thing that the Adventist church needs to work on. We, like other denominations of Christianity, do have problems. But our main message isn't the Sabbath, it's that Jesus is coming soon. That's what the Adventist part of Seventh-day Adventist means. But I do agree that we need to shift our focus off of just the Sabbath, and more on the love of Jesus. Again, I know a lot of Seventh-day Adventists who think the same thing. I do believe however, that the Sabbath still applies. I think a lot of people put it in a foreboding light and forget to mention its benefits, and I am very included in this party. Aside from the commandment part, it is nice to have a mandatory day of having no work. It helps manage stress, and gives you time to spend with your family, but again, it's up to you whether if you want to observe it or not. The most important thing is sharingthe love of Christ. God bless you.

Also I don't know if you've been to an Adventist church before, but they do preach about tons of other things that have nothing to do with the Sabbath. God bless you.

Here is the full quote.

"I saw the state of the different churches since the second angel proclaimed their fall. They have been growing more and more corrupt; yet they bear the name of being Christ's followers. It is impossible to distinguish them from the world. Their ministers take their text from the Word, but preach smooth things. The natural heart feels no objection to this. It is only the spirit and power of the truth, and the salvation of Christ, that is hateful to the carnal heart. There is nothing in the popular ministry that stirs the wrath of Satan, makes the sinner tremble, or applies to the heart and conscience the fearful realities of a judgment soon to come. Wicked men are generally pleased with a form without true godliness, and they will aid and support such a religion. Said the angel, Nothing less than the whole armor of righteousness can overcome, and retain the victory over the powers of darkness. Satan has taken full possession of the churches as a body. The sayings and doings of men are dwelt upon instead of the plain cutting truths of the word of God. Said the angel, The friendship and spirit of the world are at enmity with God. When truth in its simplicity and strength, as it is in Jesus, is brought to bear against the spirit of the world, it awakens the spirit of persecution at once. Many, very many, who profess to be Christians, have not known God. The character of the natural heart has not been changed, and the carnal mind remains at enmity with God. They are Satan's own faithful servants, notwithstanding they have assumed another name. "1SG 18
"I saw that since Jesus had left the Holy place of the heavenly Sanctuary, and had entered within the second vail, the churches were left as were the Jews; and they have been filling up with every unclean and hateful bird. I saw great iniquity and vileness in the churches; yet they profess to be Christians. Their profession, their prayers and their exhortations, are an abomination in the sight of God. Said the angel, God will not smell in their assemblies. Selfishness, fraud and deceit are practiced by them without the reprovings of conscience. And over all these evil traits they throw the cloak of religion. I was shown the pride of the nominal churches. God was not in their thoughts; but their carnal minds dwell upon themselves. They decorate their poor mortal bodies, and then look upon themselves with satisfaction and pleasure. Jesus and the angels looked upon them in anger. Said the angel, Their sins and pride have reached unto heaven. Their portion is prepared. Justice and judgment have slumbered long, but will soon awake. Vengeance is mine, and I will repay, saith the Lord. The fearful threatenings of the third angel are to be realized, and they will drink the wrath of God. An innumerable host of evil angels are spreading themselves over the whole land. The churches and religious bodies are crowded with them. And they look upon the religious bodies with exultation; for the cloak of religion covers the greatest crimes and iniquity." (Ellen G. White, Spiritual Gifts, Volume 1, pg. 189, 190

If you read it carefully, you can see that she's talking about churches who aren't worshipping God correctly. These churches are going the way of man, not in the way of God. You added that little blurb that says "non-Adventist" so it made it seem like she thought only the Adventist church was doing the right thing. However, she never specified that, in fact it's just as credible to say that some Adventist churches are included in this! It's important to understand the context of any book. Taking pieces and snippets from anything can result in a misunderstanding of what the author is saying, and just because Ellen G. White says something, that doesn't mean every single Adventist in the world agrees with her. Don't just take an ideology and pin it on all Adventists because, just like Christianity in general, not everyone believes in the exact same thing. Sorry for the weird font, I don't know how to get it off haha. God bless you sister.
please

give it a rest

you are 15, & have been led astray into this cult and prayerfully will one day break free as many other SDA people have

do you think I or any other Christian who is aware of the teachings of your cult founder would actually become interested in this garbage?

The sabbath applies to everyone ☺️

Jesus is our Sabbath rest. does Ellen White also apply to everyone?

don't you know what the SDA cult is?

as Christians we are not told to worship on a specific day. every day is acceptable to God. every day we are free to come before Him and do not need anyone to judge or point their crooked fingers

1At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat them. 2When the Pharisees saw this, they said to Him, “Look, Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.”

3Jesus replied, “Have you not read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? 4He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread,a which was not lawful for them to eat, but only for the priests.

5Or haven’t you read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple break the Sabbath and yet are innocent? 6But I tell you that something greater than the temple is here.

7If only you had known the meaning of ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’b you would not have condemned the innocent. 8For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.” Matthew 12

1For I want you to know how much I am struggling for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me face to face, 2that they may be encouraged in heart, knit together in love, and filled with the full riches of complete understanding, so that they may know the mystery of God, namely Christ,a 3in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

4I say this so that no one will deceive you by smooth rhetoric. 5For although I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit, and I delight to see your orderly condition and firm faith in Christ.

6Therefore, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in Him, 7rooted and built up in Him, established in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

8See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ. 9For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity dwells in bodily form. 10And you have been made complete in Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.

11In Him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of your sinful nature, with the circumcision performed by Christb and not by human hands. 12And having been buried with Him in baptism, you were raised with Him through your faith in the power of God, who raised Him from the dead.

13When you were dead in your trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our trespasses, 14having canceled the debt ascribed to us in the decrees that stood against us. He took it away, nailing it to the cross! 15And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

16Therefore let no one judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a feast, a New Moon, or a Sabbath. 17These are a shadow of the things to come, but the body that casts it belongs to Christ.c 18Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you with speculation about what he has seen. Such a person is puffed up without basis by his unspiritual mind. 19He has lost connection to the head, from whom the whole body, supported and knit together by its joints and ligaments, grows as God causes it to grow.

20If you have died with Christ to the spiritual forces of the world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its regulations: 21“Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!”? 22These will all perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings. 23Such restrictions indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-prescribed worship, their false humility, and their harsh treatment of the body; but they are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.

especially take note of these verses from Colossians 2. Do not let the vain and empty deceptions of Ellen White or current SDA people or Sabbath Keepers or any other cult take you captive.

You are COMPLETE in Christ. You are FREE in Christ. do not be enslaved again by people who are like pharisees in their approach and desire to hold power over you.

We are all Christ believers
I am not applying this to you because I believe you have been led into something you don't quite understand...yet

but even the devil and his demons believe in Christ. they know who He is and they tremble

After thinking on this, I've decided that I've focused on the wrong thing.
nah. that is not what happened. you went and got some help with how to deal with us stubborn Christians. and then you came back with a different approach

smh

yes, well...this is also known as ecumenism and is not biblical. Jesus did not die so the world can hold hands and sing kumbaya

there are not many gospels and a bunch of Jesus Christs. There is only one Christ. we are not all one in Christ. you cannot substitute a different Jesus and a different gospel and then blithely say 'we are all one.' no we are not.

I do believe however, that the Sabbath still applies.
It has nothing to do with Salvation or discipleship.

In Fact, Jesus, who is Lord of the Shabbat, healed a few times on the Shabbat, to teach the Pharisees that turning the Shabbat into a commandment, is a man made heresy.
We have these same today, who worry about it, and think it actually matters.

Where is that in the bible?
There is no passage in the bible telling us that when God spoke to Israel then what God said was not eternal truth, but a private message. There are many passages saying what God said was for everyone.

I don't think anyone realized what God's intention for the sabbath was and is.
Israel took God's appointed times and feast and ritualized them.
I'm hear to say theses are God's appointed times and feast not man's .
That's why he made the stars and moon for his times.
Not only do they all point to jesus but they all are in fellowship and relationship with God.
" Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven".....sound familiar.
God said remember the sabbath....remember the sabbath ...and keep it holy.
On the 7th day God rested...and blessed that day...way before a jew was even mentioned.
Jesus said: "come to me all who are weak and heavy laden and I will give you rest".
Taking a day out to reflect on God's grace, his provision, his mercy , his creation, his love he invited us in to his rest.
Labor occupies the mind and hands. Tires the body. But to what means end? For the Lord gives according to his will to each of us.
We labor in vain if our labor is only worldly for all will be hay and stubble at the day's end.
We are to stay our minds on the Lord Jesus .... discipline.... obedience... And faith.
