I'm way chilled, sis. My point: without repentance and faith and love, God let's you go your own way, gives you over to a reprobate mind, lets you stay on the broad way to destruction, unless those conditions of repentance and faith and love are met.
sigh
I think we are talking past each other. let me have another go then
YES! actually sometimes God lets you go your own way even when you are His. BUT we must come to Christ as we are and it is BECAUSE of the love of God that He extends salvation to ALL even though not all accept. I was saved when I was 5 but even then I knew I was sometimes a 'bad' girl...well actually I was headstrong, determined and a little smart for my age. I used to pray that God would help me to 'be good'....adult prayers sometimes sound the same with bigger words
Jesus said 'suffer the little children to come unto me' and I did.
Romans 1 speaks of God giving some over to a reprobate mind. (below is from the ESV...the KJ says reprobate)
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world,[g] in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.
there were specific reasons....still in effect...caused God to 'allow people to go their own way'...or give them over to their sin
a reprobate is someone who is above all else, HARDENED in their sin. this is someone who, unless God has mercy, is never going to change. I do not think it is correct to call all unsaved people reprobates because of the description in Romans and the giving over of these people to their sin as a direct result of them KNOWING ABOUT GOD and basically thumbing their noses at Him
sin has its own consequences and I agree that the Bible does seem to put a red flag on sexual sin as being more consequential than other sins. I am not saying one sin is worse than other (although in our eyes some are) because ALL sin separates us from God.
BUT we are told to run away from sexual sin because of the consequences for ourselves.
Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body.
