This is something that has recently come to my attention. Has anyone heard of this so-called Fourth Wave? To put things in perspective, the following articles explain the previous three waves and then the fourth.

https://www.emic.org/blog/the-fourth-wave/

https://www.charismanews.com/opinion/56670-the-fourth-great-wave-of-the-holy-spirit-has-begun

The main reason I'm posting this is to demonstrate once again that these things never just happen. People have to be educated and given time to warm to the idea. It will be slowly introduced. It will have a flavor that's relevant to current times. Then presto, seemingly out of nowhere, a new wave of the Spirit is upon us.

The "fourth wave" is just another deceptive counterfeit. I've been expecting this. I've been hearing about a last days revival for some time now. I've seen no signs of real repentance, no signs that people are grieving over the fallen state of most of what calls itself church and no signs that people are interested in real revival.

We have been warned about false signs and wonders. Matthew 24:24 and 2 Thessalonians 2:9 for example. I was part of a group that studied the so-called Toronto Blessing for about a year. We determined, according to God's word, that it was false. It failed every test ("test the spirits....."). The culmination of failure was that a number of AOG ministers decreed that Christians no longer needed Jesus because the Holy Spirit had taken His place. It is a wicked deception that has never been acknowledged.

God's people are still being destroyed for lack of knowledge. Christiasns too lazy or careless to seek God for themselves are easy prey to Satan's deception. Satan sets up leaders first. Many of my Christian friends told me that the pastor approved so they went along with it. Oddly, they were no longer friendly. They thought themselves superior because they were blessed and I was not. It's tragic.

The churches have declined dramatically since that time. And that is the "fruit" of the deception. I fully expect people to be deceived yet again. I would be delighted to be proven wrong.

Footnotes:
a 3 An early manuscript and another ancient witness think they have knowledge do not yet know as they ought to know. 3But whoever loves truly knows.

7Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening].

8Love never fails [it never fades nor ends]. But as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease;

as for the gift of special knowledge, it will pass away.

9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part [for our knowledge is fragmentary and incomplete].

10But when that which is complete and perfect comes, that which is incomplete and partial will pass away

Gideon 300 .. thank you for this observation..

It seems even without the study and its conclusions by some, congregations everywhere do have this tendency of superiority. This attitude does not attracted any to Jesus Yeshua, it is repugnant.

What is odd though, for years I attended Lester Sumrall's [the man with Smith Wigglesworth] Church in South Bend, Indiana and heard about this detail talk that they had before the beginning of the War. Sumrall only saw and was a part of the first 2 Movements. But there was indeed a 3rd Movement which we are all aware of the Charismatic Movement. That Movement I was never involved in because when it erupted onto the scene, I was busy being the best sinner I possibly could be. But this 4th Wave does interest me. Because from all of the teachings I've been around and heard about, I believe this is a reference to the Verse "I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh" that seems to fit the time and days right before the Tribulation begins. And I am watching closely to see if in fact a massive wide, Nation wide Revival takes place. It will include "ALL" Denominations. And if we see "ALL" Denominations begin worshiping together and holding joint Revivals, that will make Smith Wigglesworth 4 for 4 in his prophecy. But like all things, time will tell.

God has declared it in Joel. During the late s1960's many believed this was already occurring. Dreams and visions were happening. I believe, due to the very Personal attention, that it was actually coming to be then.

Within two decades this was all behind, so now I believe the next world revelation will be the tribulation. It seems many have chosen evil over good and believe lies, for they love evil............... these folks are in the assemblies globally and it is only a matter of time before the world organization is in place. But this is what I tend to understand...I most likely will not be here for this , but no one kn ows.

I agree!

If there suddenly is a major Revival to erupt, I believe we know when it ends, it won't be long like not even a year before the Tribulation begins.

Just be careful. The last days will also be the time of deception, false prophets, and false signs and wonders. The Toronto Blessing is a prime example of this. It was supposed to be of God. Close examination showed that it was a satanic deception. Sadly, countless Christians, especially Pentecostals, were duped. The "TB" was, and still is, a blight on the body of Christ. There is a new generation of believers that Satan wants to deceive and render spiritually useless. I wish I could be more positive, but I am pretty sure that this so-called 4th wave is just a rerun of the Toronto Blessing. I'm happy to explain my position if necessary.

Yeah.. I remember attending a lot of charismatic and pentecostal services, and they all followed a very similar template.

Worship in song heavily based on experience and emotion that would go for a large portion of the time.

A message based similarly on experiences and emotion, emphasizing 'moving in the Spirit', with little scripture emphasis.

A call to come up and be healed and/or saved, emphasizing again spiritual experiences and physical manifestations.

Ending with a long period again on worship in song, emphasizing asking for things from God, rather than thanking God for what they have already.

This format getting copied and pasted over and over since the 70s.

The good thing is that there is freedom of expression of worship.. which can be a great thing like with David worshipping thru music and psalms.

So dont want to throw out baby with bath water..

But where is the emphasis on Christ as number 1 and grounding in scripture?

In fact the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements are practically the only ones winning souls ... you may find it all repugnant but not everyone does.

Every true revival or awakening including the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements have come about because somebody believed the bible.

The closer we are to the very end of this age the disproportionately greater will be the number of those who have chosen evil over good for there is anumber, finite, to be reached of those who die for the message of the cross.

This said, sadly what I have posted is true, yuet at the sasme time glorious. All glory to God, amen.

I've been searching the scriptures daily and asking the Lord what if anything does he want me to do.
This morning he pointed out to read the minor prophets.
What I do know is God does not want to judge but will, his warnings of pending judgement are to shake and stir up the hearts of the people because they have turned away from their God.
Satan's deception is for us to think we are out numbered. Out voted. But who can prevail against the Lord?
As in the days of Elijah when he thought the same thing (being out numbered) the Lord was quick to respond in saying this isn't so.
Today the polls show that 68% of americans don't approve of how the new administration is handling things.
With the surge in violence, gas prices, food prices and the out right lies being shown by the current administration and their nakedness revealed many are recanting. It's not what they thought.
I see a great potential for revival....
God's judgement is not only to destroy the wicked but it is also to save those who will hear and repent.
In his just anger he allows this to happen. To show who is really in charge.
There is nothing I would like more than to be with Lord in the millennial reign but yet again to witness the hand of God to stir up a revival and to see my unsaved family and friends saved before the great and terrible day of the Lord would be of equal blessing.

Sounds like they're attempting to predict what God's Holy Spirit will do. I think Jesus actually says this it is not possible:

John 3:8
8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

From what I've read about it so far, it's supposed to manifest as a combination of the first three, but only their positive aspects, none of the negative. Now, the question I have is: If the first three were genuine moves of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, why does their need to be a fourth that prunes the "negative?" Did the Holy Spirit not get it right the first three times?

This is just one person's opinion however. A lot of people are commenting on what this "fourth wave" is supposed to bring. But as you say, only time will tell.

Hi Evmur.

Are you talking about the book of Acts primarily? Acts describes a time of signs and wonders to be sure. But it describes something that happened in church history. It doesn't prescribe those same things for all believers in all times.

Evmur, maybe in pure numbers and "decisions" made at revivals, etc. But how do you know souls are actually being won. Where are the statistics on retention rates? Where are the numbers on how many of these "decisions" lead to disciples actually following the Lord for the long haul?
