Well, he is the vicar of Christ so it must be true. (sarcasm)

He can be called anything he likes. Probably the last true Vicar of Christ was Pius XII

JP II did and said good things but he also did weird things like kiss the Koran. Some have wondered if he was not guilty of indifferentism, the notion that all religions lead to God and therefore are all approximately equal.. or some say Equal period.

My friend, I have felt His Raw, Almighty Power. If I can say this . . . Trust Me! He is here; He is listening; He is orchestrating everything according to Plan.

This life is incredibly difficult . . . and so the Lord gives us the remarkable work called "Endure." We have to endure the trials and struggles of this fallen world, and that requires Holy Trust.

Hang in there.
well, i have often persisted in faith without a lot of Trust.. I guess bc Jesus Christ appeals to my sense of logic as well as to my spirit.. but also.. I always remember the Real Presence I have experienced. It is not called the Real Presence for nothing.. (Transubstantiation... Jn 6:27..)

So what happened during the dark ages? All the blood thirsty popes that bribed and murdered their way to power? Were they in line behind Peter?

Beautiful! What you said is amazing, which is that you have been touched by God, and thus have made His Gospel to finally be one of reason and logic. I know exactly what you're talking about. Glad to know you, brother . . . and don't let me forget that you've been touched by God as well. My memory is terrible when it comes to who says what . . . here. :)

Yes, I was reading about this in a newspaper, can't recall which one at the moment, maybe the Wanderer, my favorite.

He knows he's going there...? doesn't want it to last forever... so I guess it doesn't
Oh Reeeaaallly? Wow. I disagree. You know, I've often thought that the real punishment in Hell was the eternal separation from God.

that is one of the pains of Hell. According to St. Faustina Diary #741 there are about 7 pains of Hell... one being that the misery will never end..

someone once said of eternity... Hell in particular.. that it is an "eternal now"

If you persist in your sins until death, that is your eternal now... bc tht's what u chose..

Is this the 2018 story? If you’re referring to the 93 year old atheist reporter that said Francis abolished sin in 2014, then I would take his comments with a grain of salt.

Yes, God lets people say all manner of foolishness.
Daniel 2:21 NLT - "He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars."

Amazing. And if I'm correct, this would include the likes of the Pope and Adolf Hitler (not to say that they are like each other).

Popes say a lot of things.
And Pope Francis generally manages to put his foot in his mouth. The popes before him were circumspect, but this Communist pope plays both sides against the middle. Or is he simply muddled?

I say there is no hope for the Pope.

I didn't mean to imply there were no bad popes until the 21st century.

On the other hand, there were very few "blood thirsty popes" and only one or two in the last 2000 years who has murdered.

Jesus knew there would be this kind of thing going on in His Church. who knew better than Christ himself how awful human beings can be? He knew better (knows better) than anyone how ROTTEN all of us are... (some more so than others of course). Yet He chose HUMAN beings to be the temporal heads of His earthly, visible Church. The Church has to be visible to the whole world and the Catholic Church is that... Only a fool would formulate his life according to what an obviously heretical / evil pope says

The Church is both human and divine. Most people simply focus on the human aspect. I've been guilty of that myself at times throughout the years...

There is much wisdom in the words of the rock song by Steve Miller Band

You have to go through Hell to get to Heaven... lots of truth to that

If you follow truth and justice and ... well, in a word Jesus

you will be, as Jesus predicted "hated by all"

relevant scripture

Lk 1619
