Esther 1:10 On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, the seven chamberlains that served in the presence of Ahasuerus the king,

11 To bring Vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal, to shew the people and the princes her beauty: for she was fair to look on.

This is cut and pasted directly from the KJV.

My inquiry is, has everyone heard that apparently the King summoned Vashti the queen to dance naked before everyone? And that when she disobeyed this lewd command, she was put to death. Because I have heard this from angry feminist websites, from Jewish theologians and scholars and I don't see that in the scriptures.

This cited KJV source is from the Jewish Hebrew Bible. What on earth is the source of this other information? Is it valid? Are there historical ancient scribblings about it somewhere? Can we trust Jewish scholars and historians to understand their own scriptures?

1. There is no dignity (let alone royal dignity) in nudity or nakedness. (I hope this lewd version is false.)
2. It defies reason that a king would command such a thing of his queen, let alone his wife even if he is "merry with wine."

I get there was merriment and imbibing involved, but the scriptures point out that not everyone was drinking, but all were merry. So, I don't get the impression it was a drunken orgy.

Two comments: Firstly, you are right in holding to the text of Scripture and not accepting other explanations without question. Secondly, the Persians were pagans, and the mores in that society were different than in 20th-century Western culture. I would say 21st-century, but having seen some of the outfits in popular music videos these days....

The text of Scripture justifies neither Ahasuerus' demand of Vashti, nor her refusal to comply. It simply records what happened. One would have to consult the likely limited extrabiblical sources to unpack the story further.

I am unable to find sufficient indication in the Bible that Vashti was
executed. I'm not saying there is none; only that I've thus far been unable
to find any.

There is sufficient evidence to strongly suggest that she was demoted to the
king's harem, and lived out the rest of her days in obscurity.

NOTE: It's sometimes assumed that Vashti was ordered to appear in the
nude because the only item of apparel mentioned in the story is her royal
crown. However, it's far more likely the crown was required in order to verify
that she was indeed the queen rather than one of the king's nondescript
harem dolls. It's also possible that the king just saw an opportunity to show
off his family's wealth; and besides: any woman's looks, pretty or not, are
enhanced when she's adorned with jewelry.

Those poor creatures; how they must suffer, tormented by misandry.

Both suggestions are false. Vashti was summoned simply to show everyone how beautiful she was, certainly not to disrobe before a crowd: To bring Vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal, to shew the people and the princes her beauty: for she was fair to look on. (v 11).

And she was simply banished for refusing to come to that feast. So just disregard all the lies and foolish talk of unbelievers.

It's more than misandry, it's pure misanthropy. They are hateful. They hate men. They hate women. They hate children. And there is no reason or reaching them. They hate God for the "inequity" they perceive. If they read what I just said, they would deny it (and hate me).

I have tried to reach out to them, but they are closed off. They have pagan musings going on in their minds.

That is good news. But, unfortunately, it's Jewish scholars that are going with this. And, not only this, the horrible, grievous fable of Lilith which is its own kind of abomination. When I hear about "Lilith" the mother of Cain it's like hearing nails on a chalkboard that doesn't let up. Cringe worthy.

Well some 'Jewish scholars' have some choice words to describe Jesus and they are not that kind.

1 Corinthians 1:27 (KJV) But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

Just IGNORE all the Jewish scholars. Since they have rejected Christ they have been blinded to the truth. And don't forget that is was the Jewish scholars (scribes) who wanted to have Jesus killed. Along with the chief priests, the elders, and the Pharisees. So they have absolutely no credibility.

I have read the account.. There is no report in the scriptures that say the king demanded Vashti present herself naked..

Secondly this King was Not a Jewish King.. He was the ruler of the empire that stretched from India to Ethiopia the Persian or Meda Persian empire..

So on both counts these angry feminists have no justification to be angry at God or Christians or Jews even.. No where in the account does God offer any support for the actions of the king..

Eve was the mother of Cain according to scriptures.. And there is no Lilith in the Bible too..

People should be careful with fables that some Jewish sects make up and mix into their teachings..

It's wise to stick to the text.
My estimation is drawn only from the text, he was drunk, and sent some guys to fetch her, she knew he was drunk and refused. I would say likely because he was drunk. Simple enough. No need for the fancy elaboration.

It's pretty normal for a sober wife to not want to be around a drunk husband. Drunk folks act and talk stupid a lot.

Jewish scholars...why are they so venerable? Let's look at their history. They killed the prophets, they made up a whole other law that they called "the traditions of the fathers". They attempted to first derail Jesus ministry, and failed so they sought to kill him. After that they fought against the Christians as the church grew. They persecuted and killed Christians, and to this day they try to derail Christianity. Jews are as pagan as any paganistic sect in the world.
