The will of God for our life is for us to be holy and perfect as he is. -- so that we can be gathered together with the heavenly hosts ( see my post #119))
Hello @infinitekhanol, when people ask their pastors the question, "what is the will of God for my life/how do I discover what it is", they are typically referring to something about God's will that is specific to them (IOW, who/when should I marry, should I pursue secular job, or should I go into full-time ministry as a pastor or a missionary, which college should I attend, etc.).

I don't know what you really want to know, but knowing God's will is simple. Love the Lord your God with all your heart mind and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. So you examine your position, as we Lutherans say your vocation; husband, father, son, employee, child of God, and apply the things you learn from the ten commandments to those vocations, and your position in life.

I see this keeps happening . There seems to be a knee jerk reaction when you say God did not stop speaking. Surely you accept that God did not stop speaking at the first 5 books of the bible? Ok if your comfortable with that, how about up to the book of Isaiah? how about Up to Malachi? Ok let's keep going. I assume you read a bible with the 66 books in it . So I assume you would not be happy if that bible did not have any more pages in it after the Book of John? You'd probably want a refund ? But I assume you do have those pages right up to Revelation? Ok my point is simply that God kept speaking and revealing . He didn't stop at the book of John . Or even the book of Acts . Although I'm nearly convinced that some churches only have bibles that only go as far as Acts . They may only have the four Gospels and the book of Acts . Really thin bibles lol .
We call Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John the Gospels for a reason. They don't have to be validated by or have brother Paul's stamp of approval.

John 2
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.

Just for a cross reference could you give which commandments Paul tells the Church to keep please ?

1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
13 Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

This is about the revelation given to Paul which was not known before. The Gospel of Grace. The mysteries.

Paul was given the revelation as the Apostle to the Gentiles directly. Revelation not known before Paul ,not revealed . So that's why people need to keep reading past the 4 gospels . You won't understand the 4 gospels without Jesus revelation he gave to Paul in the 13 epistles .

Yes. But I think for believers the two are tied together. You cannot take the free gift and leaving off the other while calling yourself a believer.
Jesus sets us FREE, gloriously free. When He healed Bartimeus He said "go thy way, thy faith hath made thee whole and Bartimeus followed Him in the way"

That is generally the way of it.

No one is saying that. I'm saying the bible doesn't stop at the Gospel of John. Paul's writing is equally from God .

This is happening to this very day....people to whom the Father has not been revealed will hinder others in their journey....only one reason........the Same reason they rose up against Moses...jealousy
as Elijah said...lord I am one and they are trying to kill me....
and the descendants of that time very alive today...continually mocking the Word....how sad...
I wonder of their life on the death bed...when the end is near...take a look at this life

8 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;
9 And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.
10 Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?
11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

Yea. I hear these things even from the Pulpit But, for me, I do not think we should encourage these kind of questions. I believe that when we stay in the path -- i.e, stay in the light and walk in the light, the Holy Spirit will guide us aright. It is okay to desire to be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. ( I do not think we should reduce this desire to such specific questions as in your post or like questions. We should focus on the overall picture of the kingdom and the things concerning us will fall into place.
