We have all you can eat buffets 11am-3pm for about $11 good, Love all of it!

Love that picture of samosa's, potato, peas, lots of cummin and spices good!

I love the Basmati Rice, covered with chicken tikka,in a curry masala sauce!

That sweet carrot pudding,oh yeah

Anyone who could elaborate on which cooking oil (not ghee) that generally serves indian food the best? Many would say peanut oil or even mustard oil. What say ye?

I think peanut or coconut oil but I just use olive oil for everything and it is fine.

Really? Doesn't it get "too hot" and sort of stuck things? I use coconut oil mostly, sometimes peanut oil but also soya oil and corn oil even. Olive oil I really only use fresh.

I dont really have any problems with it and I think it is healthier than the others, less cholesterol.

I've read that Safflower oil is great for wok cooking as it is light, hi-temp, and imparts no flavors. I use coconut as it is supposed to be healthy, our local Amish community has a grocery store where they package bulk foods for reasonable cost.
 
I love Indian food but the spicy variety doesn't love me. I try to avoid it but sometimes the temptation is too great and I end up spending too long in the bathroom.

I have asked for that in the past because I dont like it too hot but I find no difference. Maybe it is already pre made??

I think you mean, Idly, dosa. You misspelled Idly as Imili.

Idly is like small cakes made of rice flour. Dosai is like in the shape of pizza,except it is thinner and made of rice flour. Dosas are crisp. Idlies are soft.

Both Idly and Dosai go well with Chutney, Sambar, Molaga podi,etc.

Good to hear that you appreciate South Indian food.

Idly and dosa are good for breakfast. Usually had during breakfast. Sometimes for dinner.

Dinner is also a heavy meal. Idly and Dosa is had usually for tiffin. Mostly, Idly and dosa are not had for lunch or dinner. Lunch and dinner you will have the main course which will be rice and side dishes.
 
The first time..I had 'Indian food'..in 1978.
- One fellow (student from India) cooked an Indian dish.
- I was in the graduate school/study.
---
His dish/cooking was still better..
- Even though..I tried several Indian food/dishes..over the years.
& Indian dishes at the hotel..
- I was in India..years ago.
- Short trip.
