Oh yes, grandson and I had early fun with single actions, he with a Ruger bearcat and I with a Ruger single six.
Are you a fan of single actions? Have you a favorite?
Well good! I'm considering Savage for my bolt action. They seem to be good value, high quality guns.
Savage is awesome, seems they have kept their head down and produced very good affordable firearms all this time. The 223 can shoot the 5.56 as well, I believe.
Yeah, Ruger Vaquero 357/38, blued.
My dad introduced me to them many years ago. He’s a fan too.
I don’t care about pistols, but revolvers is another story lol.
At one time I had the Ruger Vaquero .44 Mag in stainless to which I added faux pearl grips along with a proper western rig. It was purchased solely as a side arm for horseback where a semi-auto could actually be more dangerous to both rider and horse (think along the lines of firing a round and having the horse buck). Outside of that setting I much prefer the capacity (and ability to rapid fire if necessary) of a semi-auto.
38 is about an 8th of am inch shorter than 357, so a 38 cal firearm will not chamber a 357. However it does work you can fire 38 in a 357. However you are correct about chamber pressures. It is possible by not likely that a 556 could damage a firearm rated for 223. However now you have 223 wyled which is rated along with 556.The other way around. You can fire .223 in a 5.56 but not the way you stated. The 5.56 is a higher pressure NATO round which could cause damage to the chamber on a .223. It's like the .357 magnum/.38 scenario where you can fire .38 in a .357 Magnum but not the other way around.

I love Ruger, they are a wonderful company. I also prefer revolvers. Not that I don't like semis, because I do. I just happen to really love revolvers. I even have a black powder revolver which is great funYeah, Ruger Vaquero 357/38, blued.
