Mathew 1-18
18 Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah[i] took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 Her husband Joseph, being a righteous man and unwilling to expose her to public disgrace, planned to dismiss her quietly. 20 But just when he had resolved to do this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet:

23 “Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall name him Emmanuel,”
which means, “God is with us.” 24 When Joseph awoke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took her as his wife, 25 but had no marital relations with her until she had borne a son;[j] and he named him Jesus.

I was [Predestined] to be His, because He Purposed it to invite me into His fold. He knew I would accept as I have done. He knew when He called to me I would hear His voice. I am His because He first made me His!

Hello @Benadam, what is the connection that you'd like us to make between John 6:65 (that speaks, in part, of how/why we are able to come to saving faith in the Lord Jesus) and Matthew 1:18-25 (which concerns His birth)

Thanks :)

Hi Benadam,

Without the incarnation I would still be a rebel without a cause. God is with us and he 'awoke' me. Amen!

Hi Dueteronomy! Thanks for asking! You know Joseph is called a just man according to the Word. Joseph was put in a position that required him to judge and pass sentence on the Son of God. Mary and Jesus would live on the street by any other husband.

He couldn't pollute his bloodline yet he couldn't sentence Mary to s life of shame on the streets. Mary couldn't tell him because only heaven can reveal a virgin birth. Who could believe such a thing? Especially the virgin's groom. The Incarnation can't be revealed by an earthly source. It just wouldn't be believed. Heaven had to reveal the truth to Joseph and that had to be granted by the Father. Faith in Our Savior Jesus Christ is a divine supernatural faith as this account teaches us.
I am a big fan of Joseph.
I'll bet Jesus was well familiar with this dynamic as a child. Peace and Grace to you Dueteronomy.

How wonderful! Amen! I can't imagine how wretched our lives would be without Him. Grace and Peace!

John 6:37
Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never drive away.
This (and similar verses as in the title) should never be taken out of context in order to distort the Gospel. Therefore we must first go to the Gospel itself and then see how these fit. In another thread, a brother posted John 3:16-21. So we should go from John 3:15 to 3:21 (plus verses 35 & 36):

JOHN 3: THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

THE BRAZEN SERPENT WAS A TYPE OF CHRIST
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

"WHOSOEVER" MEANS ANYONE AND EVERYONE, AND INCLUDES ALL
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

GOD'S LOVE EXCLUDES NO ONE
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

GOD'S LOVE INCLUDES THE WHOLE HUMAN RACE
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

FAITH IN CHRIST IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

SOME MEN CHOOSE DARKNESS OVER LIGHT
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

EVILDOERS HATE THE LIGHT OF CHRIST AND OF THE GOSPEL
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

THOSE THAT CHOOSE TRUTH COME TO CHRIST
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God...

GOD THE FATHER HAS GIVEN CHRIST ALL AUTHORITY IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH
35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.

THOSE WHO BELIEVE ON CHRIST RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

In view of this passage, the ones who hate the light of Christ and of the Gospel are barred from coming to Christ. Thus the Father grants that only those who believe and obey the Gospel will come to Christ and receive eternal life.

Mark 6:6

“And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.”
Is Jesus confused ? Why is Jesus surprised by thier Unbelief ? Shouldn't he expect it ?

We are merely educated by experience. Hindsight is a perfect 20/20 ratio. God viewed me the same as everyone else when
He makes Himself first known. The Hindsight to that is God [Purposed] it so He would call to everyone once or twice or more within their life. But His knowing I would accept is also [Purposed]. The Advantage for me was everything at that point. God was giving all I need. When He calls upon you and knows you will accept Him, He is coming with His Essence to impart into you [Life]. God treats us all equally, but those He knows "who" are going to Accept Him have [Favor] over those who reject Him. God's Favor in equality between all humans is a Tremendous Blessing and Advantage that is [priceless] when I sit back and add up everything God has done for me. From the situations He rescued me from, to the deals He miraculously got me out of, to even being hired for positions versus several other candidates, the Healing Power He has bestowed upon me, the list is endless here of what HIS FAVOR means as a Blessing and Advantage [over] those who rejected Him

So basically its the same as calvinism but with a twist . The twist is ' foreknowledge ' . Its the same error of placing ' election ' as if it means ' to salvation ' and instead of irresistible grace ,this is replaced by ' previenient grace . Which we have no verses that say any of this. Inspite of years of teaching this nonsense .

No, it's the facts from God Himself.
Satan could not kill Job because of Favor, in this case [Hedge]. Anyone accepting Christ has this Hedge immediately. That is just one Biblical example of God's Favor. I follow no one single person from the 3rd century on. The Word of God is my answers and i just type what can be found in scripture mixed with how my brain processes it to a understandable viewpoint.

Blessings come after, not before we are saved .

Hi throughfaith,

Does God know who will be saved ?
