If i over hear a conversion between two people ,I don't assume their talking about me .
What do you do with verses that specifically say that some will fall away from the faith? Are they people Jesus never knew...and if they are...then how can they fall away from the faith..they were never the faithful then. No...many place in scripture God tells us that people will fall away from the faith and they can’t return from it. If they fall from faith..then they must have been in the faith in the first place. its probably this “Depart from the faith” (vs. 1). This is the faith as a body of revealed truth,
I don’t really read the whole thing...since I’ll be confronted with words that we don’t speak nowadays. I just tune it all out.
aside from the 'th ' or ' of ' at the end of some words ,I'd be surprised if you didn't understandth one word in there .
Scripture is not a conversation between two people, and cannot be compared to such. Scripture is the Lord explaining the truth of our lives, our eternal life and our earthly life.
What we need to know to be righteous and receive eternal salvation is very clear in the 1611 KJV edition, so much so that a child of ten can understand it. So, succinctly, Repentance, baptism and living a righteous life are the main purposed commandments for eternal salvation.
Be reminded...Jesus says...some things are reserved for our Father's knowledge only...
also....it shall be revealed in due time.
Therefore, we are led to conclude, it is not the KJV edition, it is God's selection of information limitations which are ours
to follow, purposed for His plan. Further, another example....even Christ does not know the day and and hour of His 2nd advent. If He does not have a full understanding of God's plan...why should we feel we are entitled?
Our level of righteous following of Christ very well may be associated with our level of understanding allowed by God. The Bible alludes to that conclusion. After all...what doe we need to know? We need milk before full course meals.
Be careful with following other editions, most are slanted away from the true intent of God's word. Almost of which have been produced since the 1960's, as someone on here previously observed.
We are reading what was said and taught . We read what Jesus said to someone and that conversation is important and who he's speaking to is key . Each letter for example is written to a particular someone or a particular church. This is key also. Its not like a book of sayings or phrases like in Hinduism for example. Its historical. These things were recorded , written down through the working of the Holy Spirit. But its historical.. These are the words that were spoken and the events that took place.
Whoa!!! Now we are to gossip about all people who study language and translate from that study? On top of that!! take the translations of men who lived in the 1600's that believed that murder was OK, as they believed in murdering Jews. They translated the word Passover as Easter, because Passover was of the Jews, they didn't think the word Passover was scripture.
That is on a par with saying all of that KJV translation they did back then is not wonderful because it isn't perfect.
When we read John 3.1-16 is this not a conversation between two people? Jesus and Nicodemus?
You believe in monitoring the truths God speaks by who God is speaking to. You believe some things are historical only, I believe all scripture has both historical and spiritual meaning at the same time. I believe that the Lord is simply speaking truths we should listen to. The Lord accepts you with love, and the Lord accepts me with love, we simply believe differently. We both know of the saving power of Jesus.
Ok why did you add historical ' only ' i never said that . Tell me is God speaking to You or Moses in the narrative? You or Abraham? You or Peter ? Of course the answer is obvious. But what we do learn from these texts is key .
Also aren't much of the Psalms simply David talking/singing to God? Begging, pleading, crying too, etc
Sorry about misunderstanding about the historical only. We agree on the key being what we understand about these texts.
We don’t talk in that archaic language anymore...and I don’t care to decipher what it means...because you are right, God will reveal His Word to us...but I don’t have to make it extra hard on myself to understand the normal things too.

I asked God about what Bible I should read...and I saw soon after the definition of what each Bible had to offer and the nasb offered the best translation out of all of them..so I took that as my answer.
