No, I do not believe that ( i.e the way you are saying it and making it sound). However, whatsoever, God says and does is purely for our own benefit. note , purely for our benefit not his. We do not add or remove anything from his divinity or Being either by our goodness or "badness". All his thoughts towards us are thoughts of peace, not of evil to give us an expected end as it is written in Jeremiah.
You must have read the scripture in 2 Peter that tells us that God suffers long with us because he is not willing that any of his children should perish but all should come to repentance. He makes his love available to all including sinners and punishes or chastises us when we sin because sin works to our detriment. Therefore he wants us to come out of that state of sin or darkness into his glorious light to enjoy the eternal life he has promised us.
Sin or darkness has no part in God. As such, if we say we are his children, we must come out of that environment of sin into the environment of God to have our inheritance. Light and darkness cannot coexist. they are parallel. If we obstinately remain in that sin environment, when that which is perfect comes, sin including the wicked is destroyed. Ithink, that should be expected since the two cannot coexist. .
The sinner is destroyed not because God does not love him but he chooses to destroy himself by the evil of his hands. It is done for the overall good of all creatures
So, when we talk of the unconditional love of God, we must have the overall picture in mind.
That’s warped.
God’s the one that made the everlasting punishment for sinners.
Matthew 25:46
These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Revelation 20:11-15
Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
God does love us..but we will either have eternal punishment or eternal life. Those who have eternal life will be new creations and walk that narrow path that leads to life. Really doesn’t sound like an unconditional kind of love.
Matthew 7:13-14
Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
