With a great falling away set to occur when the man of sin comes around (2 Thessalonians 2), I was hoping to get some opinions on what the truth is that a billion plus individuals will refuse to love is, and what the lie is that they will instead choose over the truth?

and I’m sure it’s east to see why so
Many refuse the love of the truth because it calls for us to put our sinful deeds , sinful thoughts and intentions behind us it condemns a lot of what we are greedy , proud , untruthful , it condemns those who refuse to help others in need things like that are offensive to a religious person who looks at it like a law and perceived themselves righteous already

so it’s hard for someone to accept “ I’m the issue I have to change “ and the truth tells us that very clearly It’s very difficult to accept that , but to deny the truth and continue on in sin hearing the truth and rejecting its truth is to hold it in unrighteousness

it’s about those who look at the gospel as an excuse to continue in sin and imagining God doesn’t know or care or that he will just ignore it those who reject the things Jesus said because those things lead our minds and hearts to repentance

we first have to know and acknowledge that we have a lot of behaviors that we need to change because we’re now talking about eternity

to be in the body of Christ and freely continue in sin on the mind it’s not a big deal or God doesn’t care or I don’t need to change I’m different than others I’m saved already that’s not the truth the truth comes from the gospel of the kingdom and calls for repentance and faith

Pride and the big lie that we can "pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps". Some have been deceived by Satan into thinking they must, but I think most just prefer to think of themselves more highly than they ought.

I think every response so far has some truth to what will be reasons for the choice people make. I was waiting to see if anyone would put the data about the man of sin together with his other aliases (the little horn, the beasts mouth, the false prophet, the Antichrist), and finally see that BenjaminN just put him together with the Abomination of Desolation, which is correct and another alias for the man of sin. We therefore can put these other data together to find more specifically what the lie is that people will choose over the truth.
For example, as we know the little horn is in alliance with the Beast of 10 horns in Daniel 7 and Revelation 13, we then see the whole world who are not written in the lambs book of life in adoration of the lie the man of sin will propagate through the beast and the dragon (Revelation 13:4 & 8). So the next question now is: What is this lie that man will choose over the truth that will have all mankind who are not written in the lambs book of life in adoration of the devil, the beast, and the beasts mouth (aka, the man of sin)? Hint: it's more related data with the beast.

Remember that it is not the acts of sin that hold us in bondage, but rather the nature of sin (The Sin Nature). When one’s faith is in the Cross of Jesus Christ, the dominion of that nature is dormant, but when we are trusting in ANYTHING other, it is revived (Romans 7:9).

When the Believer is proclaiming Christ while forsaking the Cross, this is a form of godliness because they are rejecting the power which is the Cross of Christ (1 Cor. 1:18).

The falling away means the Believer is proclaiming Christ while forsaking the Cross. The Believer is no longer living by the Faith of the Son of God who loved us and gave Himself for us (the Cross). This is apostasy! The Church is sick!

the answer is belief of the new things in order to change the mind from the sinner who is deceived in accepting his captivity to sin and doesn’t believe it’s possible to be free of serving sin

I do not believe that anyone can lose of forfeit their salvation. If the apostate is saved they will simply have their works burned at the judgment seat of Christ and enter heave with no rewards for the King.

What is the strong delusion you ask? Believing lies as truth. Look around it's everywhere. It's the strong suit of the apostate and the false professors. Lying sings and wonders are their stock in trade.

The are more than a remnant of bloodline Jews who are saved. The 7,000 remnant men Jews you are referring to have not bowed their knees to Baal. Meaning they have not had money/mammon or things/idols as a prior love, and so did not do wrong for the love of those things. There will still be repentant others who will have previously bowed their knees to Baal.
I do not, however, see the connection you are trying to make with the topic about the lie that so many around the world, including one billion plus current members of the church are going to choose, while rejecting the truth.

--Paul is (in 2 chpts) giving the TWO DISTINCT [/OPPOSITE] responses [/beliefs] people will come to embrace following "our gathering together UNTO HIM"/our "Rapture [IN THE AIR]"/"THE Departure" (he shows this at the FRONT and BACK bookends to this [overall] CONTEXT)

a) "And because of this, God will send to them a working of delusion, for them to believe what is false / the lie / the pseudei" (2Th2:10-12... same ppl that 1Th5:2-3 says "[and THEY] shall NOT ESCAPE [FLEE OUT OF - G1628]")--this is speaking of IN "the DAY OF THE LORD" TIME-PERIOD (when "the man of sin" will have ARRIVED to do all he is prophesied to do in those 7-yrs [the "IN THE NIGHT" ASPECT OF the entire long "DOTL" time-period])

Second clue everyone. As the beast who rises from the sea in Revelation 13 is another description of the beast who rises from the bottomless pit in Revelation 9, the Lord then informs us that the plagues in Revelation 8 & 9 are due to the love mankind has for the things his hands produce (Revelation 9:20). If you can then interpret the metaphors for the plagues, you will find what the lie is that people choose when the beast rises from the bottomless pit (aka the sea).
